I have no doubts that Kochetkov would beat someone's ass on his own. I watched him with the Wolves and his first game he had a stick broken on his face and his response was to laugh and yell at the entire Iowa bench in Russian. Now, that being said I do hope the Hurricanes pay attention and make sure the bruins don't do anything stupid on their ice

Koochie had more then a few fights in the KHL. But yes. as an old school player from the 80's and 90's, the rat should have had five Canes on him. Pasta should have been in the locker room getting stitches. I know RBA does not like fighting but you CAN NOT lets this stuff go!

I think the Canes reacted appropriately. They had a lead, and Boston is drowning in that series. No reason to give them a life line by making a martyr out of Marchand. The slash wasnt that serious and Kochetkov is more than fine standing up for him self.

Thank you for the Spurgeon rant. The DoPS has been particularily awful this year and the fact that he got away with trying to snap another player's ankle without so much as a game missed makes me sick to my stomach. It's absolutely shameful that they don't protect their players.

Over in the UK (where I’m from) the DOPS for our league (the EIHL) is beyond shocking!! Most of the refs don’t care that players get hurt, miss blatant penalties and they wonder why they get so much abuse hurled at them. It really grinds my gears!

I’m a Wild fan, but what Spurgeon did was just filthy, stupid and should’ve been punished with more than a graze of the wrist. It wasn’t even a slap, literally, what a joke. I usually adore our captain, but it wasn’t a quick retaliation, it was an aimed cross check at the ankle, a clear attempt to injure.
@EvaMaster101
@EvaMaster101 2 жыл бұрын
As my bro put it, he was saved by his spotless record and the fact that he (thankfully) does not cause an injury. Any large D-man causes a major injury there but Spurgeon is saved by his size. Doesn't make it not dirty, and doesn't make the NHL's decision correct, but there it is.
@Dentros21
@Dentros21 2 жыл бұрын
As another Wild fan who always thought Spurgeon has made a name for himself by playing clean, smart hockey, and the fact he plays as well as he does in his position for his size, I was very disappointed in his actions, so stupid, and not only should he have been fined more heavily and probably suspended, but it should have been immediately addressed. He is the captain...lead by example.

@@EvaMaster101 true, I just hate rules like that. Just because someone is smaller doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be upheld to the same standards. It’s like abuse, just because women are weaker doesn’t make it less of an issue. Just because the dog is smaller, doesn’t mean it’s bite can’t draw blood. His spotless record is great and we’re proud of him for that, but it doesn’t excuse what he did.

Yeah, a lot of dang it's from the regular season Avs-Preds game including Rittich's all timer, but I think the Predators added a few more in Game 1 (arguably the whole game). But Ekholm with the "assist" to Cogliano? And even more especially the triple dang-it by Borowiecki on the goal that went to Landeskog? First he kicks it towards the net--oh no! Phew, off the post! Then he buries his own goalkeeper trying to move Landeskog, and in the process he kicks the puck AGAIN and...it didn't hit the post that time.

Thanks for the looney-ness of the Nashville bloopers, since I knew that Smith dang-it was eventually coming. I can't really feel too much like teasing the Preds for that lost puck goal though, since even the cameraman (whose job is to follow the puck!) also lost track of it as well. As for Marchand, he's proven time and time again that he gets really nasty when he losing and I can only hope that the Canes can survive his viciousness if they hope to keep half of their team out of the hospital with how he and the rest of the Bruins are favoured by the officials (which has also been demonstrated time and time again!).

I know it's hard to show a full five-minute stretch of play, but the Leafs 5-minute PK was probably the most incredible five-minute stretch of hockey from any team this season. The team was buzzing, the building was electric, and they generated more high-quality chances than the Lightning did. It's easy to see how that game could have gone very differently if the Leafs didn't open with that stellar performance. Just phenomenal to watch.

But he could give away the game. Does anyone remember his string of loses in January or do people have such short memories that only the last month counts? Smith's got to go next season, get someone like fluery and make Skinner the back up, Koskinen can go too, although at least he is consistent, (let's in the first goal and then it great after that)

You missed a moment in Game 1 between the Rangers and the Penguins where the refs took the game away from the Rangers. Chytil scored what should have been the game winning goal late in the 3rd period, but the ref called it no goal because of goalie interference. But if you look at the replay, Kakko was PUSHED INTO THE GOALIE BY A PENGUIN!! HE CLEARLY TRIED TO AVOID CONTACT AND HE WAS CLEARLY PUSHED IN, WHICH CLEARLY MEANS THAT IT IS NOT GOALIE INTERFERENCE! PLUS, CHYTIL WAS THE GOAL SCORER, NOT KAKKO! I THINK IT WOULD APPLY TO THE PLAYER SCORING THE GOAL! BUT EVEN IF IT ISN'T, HE WAS PUSHED IN!!! IT WAS CLEAR AS DAY, AND THE REFS STILL CALLED IT INTERFERENCE!! And because of that, not only did the game go to triple overtime (which were intense), but it gave the Penguins the win as Malkin scored in the 3rd overtime. The triple overtime should have never happened. That game should have ended in regulation. But it didn't ALL BECAUSE OF THE STUPID REFS!! THEIR STUPIDITY HAS COST THE RANGERS THE GAME! IF THE CALL WAS DONE RIGHT, CHYTIL WOULD SCORE THE GAME WINNER, AND THE RANGERS WOULD TAKE GAME 1 IN REGULATION! THE STUPIDITY AND STUBBORNNESS BY THE REFS SCREWED US! IT'S RIDICOLOUS!! And the fact you didn't include that in this video, that's a Dang it. Please include that moment in next week's Dang Its. Thank you.

Now if you're *someone who shall not be named* and have lots of penalty minutes and previous fines and suspentions for intent to injure, this would be a suspention. No, the Kochetkov incident was not a dang-it for Carolina "because they didn't come to his defense". 1) Raanta was punched in the face while run into by Pastrnak, and Kochetkov sees firsthand on the bench that the Bruins will hurt anyone they have to in order to try to win, including the goaltender. 2) Marchand is the league's consistently dirtiest player and you can see him trip, high stick, cross check, and punch other players during the entire game but he only gets called for 2-ish penalties. (Typical call results for Marchand/Bruins). 3) Kochetkov is cross checked by Marchand, showing Kochetkov firsthand how desperate Boston is and how the dirty Bruins will try to hurt anyone they can, so Kochetkov stands up for himself against Marchand to let Marchand know he won't let him get away with his crap. Kochetkov even gives Marchand a nod, almost as if to say "bring it" to Marchand, then Marchand swings his stick like a bat and the ref skates in to protect Marchand immediately. The Canes are more focused on winning the series and not stooping to Boston's dirty level, so jumping in would risk penalties, further injury, and possible suspensions. TDA acknowledged this after the game and the Canes all know this is part of Boston's game but that they shouldn't stoop to Boston's level.

You should be fined then suspended for the amount of time the injury puts out that player... you injure someone for 2 games on a fineable offense you get suspended for 2 games. You injure someone ending his hockey career, you lose your contract, fined the fine, and you're ejected from the NHL.

The Hurricanes goalie a Marchand slashed each other. If the refs had let it go, the Canes would have needed to do more, but the rookie was standing up for himself and I think it's cool that his team left it at that. Bump, slash, push, slash, done. Now, when Marchand touches him again, the team needs to get in there, but I like that, this time, the goalie got in Marchand's face about it and that the team let him stick up for himself a little.

As a Wild fan, I just want to say that I am EXTREMELY disappointed and ashamed in Jared Spurgeon's actions. And I think I speak for all Wild fans when I say that. That behavior is absolutely disgraceful, and as you stressed, has absolutely no place in the sport. I would have completely understood a suspension for Spurgeon. So the fine of a mere $5K (max allowable fine is, as I learned, 0.25% of a player's salary) is not just laughable, it's pathetic and infuriating. Yes, I'm going to root for the Wild, but I simply cannot defend Spurgeon in good conscience here. In soccer, that would be a straight red card (ejected from the game AND your team has to play short a man for the rest of the match AND you can't be part of the 18- or 23-man squad for the next 1-2 matches). I don't care if you're angry, Jared. That is childish! Good night.

I don't think the Kochetkov thing should be a dang it. He's proven in the AHL that he's willing to stand up for himself and fight his own battles. If Marchand wants to get laid out by a human tank twice his own size, he doesn't need the help of the rest of the Canes. Pyotr can hold his own and can absolutely pummel him.

Full Disclosure, I am a Hurricanes fan. I say not a dangit as most of the team on the ice was already occupied by the scrum in the opposite corner while this was going on. And by the time any of them probably realized what was going on, the linesman was already there and taking Marchand off the ice. And going after him later would just be inviting punishment by the league. Plus as noted by someone else, Kochetkov seems to be able to handle himself and I think would have no issues getting a piece of Marchand if needed.

I might be a bit biased because I’m a Bruins fan, but the goalie was out of his crease and going for the puck like he was going to make his own play. As you always say, “If you’re a goaltender, tend the goal!” but I’m pretty sure I saw that guy almost go all the way to the blue line at least once or twice. When Marchand touched the goalie, he was out of the crease and the puck was on its way to another Canes player. Marchand didn’t try to block him from returning to his crease, where he should have been heading back to, and instead decided to shove Marchand like he wanted to pick a fight. And of course Marchand is a little stinker and gives him a tap to be like “Cut it out.” A goalie’s pads are supposed to be enough to block shots going faster than a car on the highway, that stick tap probably didn’t even get through. The Canes didn’t even come rallying to the rookie goalie’s defense, so I think even they saw the goalie was partially at fault there. The guy doesn’t speak a lick of English either, or so I heard from commentators. Fresh from the Russian leagues and maybe still playing by their rules of being a scrappy goalie. EDIT: Apparently this guy has a history of picking fights, he’s even tried to go across the ice to pick a fight with the other goalie. So was Marchand wrong for hitting the guy with his stick? Yea. But the goalie didn’t have any business trying to start a fight in the first place. That’s an L for both sides. I’m probably gonna get blasted for just being a Bruins fan commenting here but I don’t care lol I’ve loved the team for over 20yrs and that’s not gonna change.
@daniellebrossoie8215

Marchand had no business contacting the goalie in the first place. Kochetkov took exception and gave a small slash, then a shove. So th fault is all on Marchand for instigating, especially after the bruins already took out Raanta. Then to take a two hand baseball-swing slash is over the top. Whether the the goalie felt it much is irrelevant.
@therecanbeonly1497
@therecanbeonly1497 2 жыл бұрын
My only comments would be that there was no need to contact the goalie in the first place - but it's Marchand so... And it's definitely more of a dang-it for a veteran like Marchand who has to go to the box, Carolina gets to pick someone to serve the goalie's penalty. Marchand sat in the box while Carolina scored an insurance goal.
