Jeff Lumby nails the evil laugh perfectly! It's almost like it's his natural laugh. Even after watching the Viz dub (which is amazing!) I just don't get that sense of fear and chills from Keith Silverstein that I get from Jeff Lumby when I see/hear Professor Tomoe.

In my opinion, the Cloverway and Viz voices sound close enough to me. That isn't a bad thing because I have always liked the CWi voice. One of the voices that sound GOOD in the old dub, same with Sugar voicing Rini, Katie voicing Mars ans Susan voicing Jupiter.

Both Japanese voices were great for their respective versions and as for the English dubs, while I do prefer Keith Silverstein's voice just for sounding more unhinged, I have to admit that Jeff Lumby was actually quite good too. Definitely one of the few voices from the old dub that I genuinely like.

I didn't watch Sailor Moon DIC too much to be nostalgic over the voices, but Jeff is defo the best of the english voices, he fits like a glove in voicing daddy Tomoe and he really slays in performance even more than his VIZ counterpart.

Nothing will beat Jeff for me. He sounds so menacing and scary. Keith is too nerdy and weird to really fear. Not to mention (although its not shown) Jeff also does an amazing job with Tomoe as a calm father. He speaks so calmly, but he can transition right back into the villain seamlessly.

I really liked all of the voices for prof.tomoe,especially his English dub voice from the cloverway dub of sailor moon. Jeff lumby was amazing as prof.tomoe and I really liked his serious yet sometimes silly moments in the episodes of sailor moon s. a few of the voices from the cloverway dub of sailor moon I actually liked when I was younger and I still like it. Keith is also really good as prof.tomoe in the viz dub too.

I am one episode away from being done with the Viz Media dub of season 3, and I must say that this guy is my favorite Sailor Moon villain so far. Both English voice actors, especially Lumby, did a fantastic job voicing the professor, making him creepy, intimidating, and bringing him to life. While I was watching the Viz Media dub, I noticed that the professor sounded so familiar judging by the tone of his voice. I know I heard his voice from a video game. I did some research and as it turns out, Silverstein is the same voice actor for Dr. Wily from Megaman 11. That is pretty cool.

Jeff Lumby's lower but more entertaining performance works wonders for 90s Tomoe. Silverstein is unquestionably a great choice for the Crystal version. I personally think Dan Woren would be a great choice too. He can ham it up (like in Fate/Zero) and is no strangers to characters selling out to world destroying entities.

The original anime made Prof. Tomoe impossibly cuckoo, so who do you get (at the time) to voice someone with both a menacing yet and utterly wacky but still definitely mad laughter? Akira Kamiya, given being Kenshiro AND Shuutaro Mendou. Kenshiro may be his best role, but Prof Tomoe is still my favorite role of his, given how BONKERS he is

His long running role of Kogoro Mouri from Detective Conan had been taken over by Rikiya "Ohma Zi-O/Kiritsugu Emiya" Koyama since then. It was frankly a massive surprise that he came back to voice the bad guy in the Gokaiger anniversary movie, but he's retired from regular roles.

When I watched Crystal I little missed the ridiculous side of Tomoe because I had good laugh from him like when he prepared tea or played Twister in his subordinate's workplace. But I understand why things like this had to be removed: with such scenes and overall character design from the old anime he was more laughable while he was supposed to be intimidating; yet the the entire old anime, all 5 seasons was kind of lighthearted and took very much of creative liberty, sometimes even deviated too far from the source material.

The silly characterization of Tomoe was a product of the 90s anime filler and wasn't in the original manga series, which Crystal is based on, in the manga and Crystal it is heavily implied Tomoe isn't even himself anymore, but just like Kaolinite his body was taken over by the alien egg.

I actually like Kirimoto-san better than the original Japanese. He captures the fact that Tomoe submitted his body and soul to save his daughter; he's more believable as an obsessed-scientist and a loving father... who turns into an utter monster. Lumby has the insane laugh down, and the tea ceremony was fun, I will give him that. The sin lies in the dub not alluding to the Holy Grail or the three talismans. Mr. Silverstein is a mad scientist with a lovely insane laugh, spine-chilling and fun as well! Hard to believe he's Kenji Tsukino as well.

Dr. Tomoe always reminds me of Dr. Mifune from 'Terror of Mechagodzilla.' I guess because he's a typical mad scientist who's allied with malevolent extra-terrestrials, who's also blessed with a sick daughter who's a cyborg (at least in 'Crystal') who also happens to be a harbinger of a destructive power that can end the world.

I like Tomoe in the manga and Crystal better than the 90's Sailor Moon S because of the sign of Accept the things you cannot change, have the courage to change the thing you can and have the wisdom to know the difference, the Serenity prayer show Tomoe refuse to accept the things she cannot change were he use inappropriate experiments then save his daughter the badly injured Hotaru using what appeared to be a mix of cybernetic and genetic technology as a tool for revenge not for love but Hotaru was supposed destined to die in the accident then Pharaoh 90 shows up who had him declare his undying allegiance and devotion to the cosmic entity in return for great power and knowledge far beyond humanity. Although hesitant, Tomoe willingly devoured the Daimon egg of Germatoid for power and thus become completely possessed by his evil which is the right path but realized that this is the wrong path that lead to terribly consequences of his demise by working with a evil being like Pharaoh 90 granting Tomoe and others power of Deimons but power destroy them which Tomoe paid for the price for his mistakes with sins with selfish, hatred and jealousy which happens to the other villains in the previous arcs like Beryl, Demande and Galaxia, if Tomoe the other villains Accept the things you cannot change they truly do the right path the war would never have happen and everything be at peace for all times but they didn't but now is up to Sailor Moon and her friends fix the damage they cause by making thing truly right by having the the courage to change the thing they can and wisdom to know the difference with the power of love to defeat them and save the world and universe by not only restore everything but making thing better than before with new powers have friend you love be reborn and awaken from revives from sleep with courage and wisdom with the power of love can triumph over evil Sailor Moon says no matter what.
