NHS doctor tells Health Secretary he won't get jabbed

A consultant anaesthetist has told Sajid Javid that he will not get vaccinated against COVID and is unhappy at the mandatory requirement.
Steve James told the Health Secretary that his 'natural immunity' after contracting coronavirus was far superior to any booster.

Actually he turned straight for the nurses and gave his back to the doctor initially - only when the doctor spoke up within mic shot did Sajid have to acknowledge him. Seems strange to me why he went for the nurses and not the doctor initially. Is it because they don’t have the medical training necessary and so are easier to lie to and convince that they need the vaccine, thus they will propagate your talking points? I think he knew that if he spoke to a doctor (regardless if the doctor is in favour or not), he will always get a more balanced and nuanced answer that wont benefit the message he wants to deliver.

To be fair he is absolutely correct that he is being advised by a ton of experts who are a lot more qualified about epidemiology and vaccines than an anaesthetist. For one thing, this guy saying the vaccine only lasts 10 weeks is dead wrong. It starts to reduce effectiveness after ten weeks, but it isn’t useless.

I am afraid medical issues are now so complicated that a minister who is not a doctor nor a clinical scientist cannot even comprehend the issue and make comments as meaningless as the ones shown here. About to be dismissed from my NHS job of 5 years because of this mandate. I'm not even in contact with patients and they've paid me a full salary working from home for 2 years!! Makes no sense whatsoever and is so against our basic human rights. So glad this Dr spoke out!! Javid was trying to intimidate those nurses into giving a positive spin for his illogical policy, yet their silence spoke volumes. It’s quite clear they have mixed feelings towards it. The more confident Consultant who has worked in covid ICU since the beginning takes him to task. It looks to me like the doctor has the prestige and authority to speak up when a lot of the other staff are too afraid. I've had my booster over Christmas, I've been very ill with delta and I work in a school which is currently rife with Omicron, but I don't want NHS staff who we were all clapping on our doorsteps to face the sack over this. It's terrible that everyone just abandoned the care workers for refusing the vaccine. School staff will be next and staff I work with don't want the vaccine. Unfortunately because this arguement has been left to the fringes, people might assume that i am anti vaccine, but I'm not, I am just aware that public services need staff to function, and that many of us have gone above and beyond for two years and none of us deserve the sack.

Let's be clear here, the doctor isn't against vaccines. He's opposed to the proposed mandatory vaccination as a response to the current Omicron variant and the efficacy of the vaccine and boosters on long term immunity. As he clearly states, he doesn't see the proposal as being viable because that would mean monthly boosters for all NHS staff. I think that is the very point; the media present ALL scepticism as anti-vaccine and anti-science but the vast majority of people who are sceptical have many reasons for doing so. The fault is with the sensationalist media and the establishment bodies who want to force everyone to behave as they wish. I don't even think that this government is in control of the narrative, but are responding as to appear in control. They knew that immunity was going to have to come, either by encountering the virus or a vaccine, but the media and opposition used this to brainwash the public against a government that isn't widely and publicly trusted for their own gain.

Just because he is a doctor doesn't mean he is a vaccine expert...my son says exactly same thing and he is 18. My opinion is that he has a choice as to not take the vaccine and I respect that but why are most of the vaccine doctors encouraging us to take it and risk their livelihoods. People are being saved by others taking the vaccine, ie reducing infection, meaning less impact on hospital bed occupation, more healthcare available for other illnesses to be treated or dealt with....it just doesn't end with having a covid infection....its the knock on effect.
