NIACIN for Brain Health, Anti-Aging & Disease Prevention + How to ENJOY Beef LIVER - JERKY RECIPE
Over the years since first incorporating beef liver into my diet, I've experimented with various preparation methods, and I think I've finally landed on the most delicious way to enjoy this super nutritious food. I have actually started to crave it and, of course I love the benefits, too. I'm so grateful every time I eat it. I hope you'll try it out!
Timestamp for food prep is 7:02
For this recipe, I used:
Approx. 1 ¼ pound of beef liver
Salt & black pepper
Dehydrated onion (onion powder)
Liquid stevia (the one I like - amzn.to/3DZZrgL)
BPA-free disposable gloves (for general food-massaging & meal prep - amzn.to/2TeGsxm)
I bake the liver at 375F for approx. 25 min, flip each piece, then bake an add'l 12-15 min. I then lower the oven temp 175F and leave it in the oven at that temp for approx. 90 min. (Keep an eye on it.)

In The Middle East, we usually eat liver with pomegranate molasses. The sweet and sour of the molasses balances the “liver-y” taste. Loved your recipe, so excited to give it a go!

Here are some secret Tips... Specially for you Jennifer.... To remove the smell of liver after washing place it in a bowl of water with a Tb spoon of vineger for 10-15 min n then wash.... Mostly people complain that it becomes hard after cooking.... The secret is there s a very fine transparent layer on liver which you have to pull... Its not that difficult... Just remove that even before cutting in pieces.. When this is removed then its never becomes hard after cooking.. And finally always add salt in last moments... Thats also a trick so it remains soft....♥️🌹

I am Egyptian so my favourite preparation method is alexandrian stir fry liver cooked with bell peppers onions garlic and cumin chilli salt and stir fried in olive oil not a lot just two table spoons . The chilli is optional , also I add pomegranate molasses two tea spoons for tartness and sweetness instead of the stevia. It’s juice and excellent and delicious . Before the cooking I defrost it then let it sit in lemon juice garlic onion marinade for an hour , it removes the smell. I always buy grass fed beef liver.

I haven’t had liver in years but I remember my mom making it for me when I was a child. She always said it was good for you and I was borderline anemic then. She fried it in a pan with salt, pepper and put grilled onions on top, usually served with spinach and mashed potatoes. I just might cook some after watching this, thanks for sharing. Learning a lot form your videos and getting inspired to take better care of myself and my family. 🙏🏻

Thanks. I hope you try the liver!! And, yes, it's the lighting. I'm standing in front of a south-facing window, and also I'm positioned in the opposite direction compared to the latter half of the video, therefore the sunlight is providing "too much" natural light, and that's what has created this blown out (overexposed) effect; so everything looks lighter/washed out.

One 3 oz serving per week is really modest! Start of this month was my first time trying chicken liver, it came out so gritty.(possibly overcooked) I had to run it down with water on the days I did have it. The second time around, air fried it for 12 minutes and it was perfect! I'm doing around 2oz of cooked liver, every other day. I've had great energy in the PM, when I occasionally took a nap prior around 4-5, even if only 12-15 minutes. Now I don't find myself not needing it. Also the health of my nails was the biggest thing I've noticed so far, my cuticles look like they've never before. Probably the oddest observation I'll ever make about a body improvement. 😂 Will try and gather the courage for beef liver in the following week, and try this out :-)

I love baits or liver steak. When I cook them I usually prepare them the night before. Season with salt, garlic, bay leaves and pepper and add lemon juice or cider vinegar and marinate overnight to gain flavor. To cook, I place it in a pan with olive oil, let it heat up and fried it very well on both sides. Its very tasty. Serve it with baked potatoes or beans or rice.

Hey Jennifer, I am a new subscriber and I am so impressed with your discipline to eat healthy. How do you keep yourself motivated to eat healthy foods all the time. i really want to shift my way of eating but I love eating delicious foods too much 😩. My resistance is currently with food and no matter how I have tried to shift it has been difficult for me to give up sugar and bread. Do you have any guidance on how you changed your way of eating and keeping consistent with eating healthy? It must be more of a mindset shift but are there days when you crave sugar and bread? How do you keep yourself motivated. Any guidance would be helpful. I really want to change my way of eating but I don’t know how to start. Lol 😆 I’ve been following Jennifer and have started eating so much healthier because of her! So I am pretty willing to try anything! I even eat the same sardines, bone in like she recommends. With the right seasonings it’s really good on toast! My favorite is bruschetta, topped with sardines in olive oil, and adding a balsamic vinegar glaze on top, it makes the fish VERY palatable! ❤️

Hi Jennifer. I asked on another video for your beef liver recipe for your help of a suggestion so hoping to soak the some here lol. I have wanted to add beef liver to my diet so badly for years as o can force myself to enjoy anything if it is good for me and has amazing nutritional value like this. I am not fussy per taste etc but no matter my attempts, your recipes and others I literally cannot get beef liver down even taking a few bites it immediately makes me nauseous as soon as I chew (not frol taste of texture) and upsets my stomach. It is really the most bizarre and comical thing as I live such a healthy lifestyle and eat very clean among have had many of the same staples you do for years so can't explain this scenario. I take quality beef liver supplements in the meantime which I take a low dose of or I have the same issue if taking the full recommended. Thanks so much for any thoughts as this is really stumping me and so annoying! 😅

I’d say I eat maybe 5 or 6 pieces and maybe that’s too much. My bathroom habit changed for the worse, maybe it’s too much iron for me. I think I need to adjust my servings. Great simple recipe. I could not agree more about niacin. I was wondering the nutrients remaining in the liver after a long bake. Do they remain in the liver or are they dissolved? Nevertheless I will try it your way 🙂 Also my way of preparing the liver is: in a pan I put some butter (animal product), add sliced onion and garlic to sauté, when the onion is translucent I add small chunks of liver, add salt & pepper and I roast them. Not to much, because I like some to be a bit raw inside. That is why I asked about the long baking and nutrients/vitamins to be preserved. Thank you for yet another great advice. Keep doing such a great job. Incredible health advocate you are 😇

I have been a vegetarian for almost 20 years. I am 26 now and chose to stop eating meat around my 7th birthday after seeing a lamb tied up and then roasted for Easter. I am so grateful that my parents supported my independence, but they were unfortunately not well informed on how to eat a healthy vegetarian diet. I remember eating literal straight salt and licking the salt off of pretzels. I think that might have been a sign I was lacking nutrients. In my teen years, I developed an eating disorder, and my menstruation stopped for three years. I am sure I was not getting enough nutrients then. I have had mood and memory issues my whole life, but I had a very traumatic childhood that I thought was the cause. I am doing much better these days in all areas, and I overall feel mentally and physically the healthiest I have ever been. As a teen, I avoided eating fat, but a few years ago, I dated a man from Syria who poured olive oil over everything. At the beginning of our relationship, I made him cook with less fat, but over time I could not avoid the reality that he was thinner and had a more stable metabolism than I did. Increasing healthy fats has been amazing for me. But I can tell that I still struggle to get the nutrients I need and that still more fat would be good in my diet. Around two years ago, I began to consider eating meat again, maybe just fish. I still have not done so because it is a rather emotional and spiritual thing for me. Your videos have inspired me to try beef liver! I realized that the main thing stopping me has been my ego about being a vegetarian. I thought about it and realized if it will truly benefit my health, eating beef liver from cows that were treated well a couple times a month does not go against my morals. I think the fact that it is an acquired taste and not something I would often be offered by other people would help me see it as a special supplement to a mostly vegetarian diet. Maybe I will try beef liver and oysters, very healthy foods but not exactly tempting or widely available like fried chicken haha. And if I do not notice improvements, I will go back to my vegetarian diet. Trying new things is good, and eating meat sparingly for my health does not mean I disrespect animals. Maybe this comment is more about telling myself that it is okay, but I still wanted to share. 20 years is basically my whole (conscious) life! Introducing meat is very difficult and a big deal for me. Thank you for your videos!

Hi Jennifer, thank you for the recipe. I have one question once you bake it, let it cool, store it in freezer how do you consume it when you take the frozen jerky out...do u defrost it? Heat it ? Or snack on it cold ? Leave it out till it's room temperature then enjoy it ?

I just tried making liver last night after watching your last liver video. I really wanted to like it but I don’t think I can ever do that again 🤦🏻‍♀️. My 3 chickens loved it though 😃. Thanks for the video!

@@user-rn5un7kh2p lol! I have more in my freezer too. My coworker just told me to rinse it first, which I didn’t do, to take some of the blood off and she cooks it in a tiny bit of lard and onions. I guess I’ll try that next just so I don’t waste it. If not the chickens are getting another good meal 😆.

We parboil before cooking in onions and bacon grease. Might defeat the process but certainly helps with the flavor. :-)

Hi Jennifer, thank you so much for this video. Do you eat 3 ounces of the dried jerky each week or do you mean 3 ounces raw liver which will decrease in weight after drying. Best regards

I have not started on beef liver, but I do cook my chicken liver in a curry with some spinach! Care not to overcook or it'll have a weird powdery texture. Thanks for this idea! You look lovely. Q: many videos back you advised us to start meditating for many reasons, one of which it attracts abundance. Would love to hear you talk more on this subject 🦄

Jennifer I want to consume meat but I found a study that scared me, it said that animal protein “tends to leach calcium from the bones and encourages its passage into the urine. Plant protein-in beans, grains, and vegetables-does not appear to have this effect.” Any thoughts? I trust your opinion and you appear to read scientific articles so I am curious to hear your thoughts!

Hello Jennifer, thanks for the breakdown. I’ve been using freeze dried capsules since I haven’t brought myself to thaw and cook my raw liver yet. Do you also take liquid cod liver oil?
@JenniferMyers
@JenniferMyers 2 жыл бұрын
I don't take cod liver oil; however, I do consume actual cod liver, in its own oil. It's not an everyday food, but I do consume that. It's very high in Vitamin D, omega fatty acids (EPA & DHA); it also has a good amount of Vitamin A (preformed Retinol). So it's excellent for the skin!!

@JenniferMyers

I didn't, no (I don't color my hair). It's the lighting. I'm standing in front of a south-facing window, and also I'm positioned in the opposite direction compared to the latter half of the video (and most of my other videos)...the sunlight is providing "too much" natural light, and that's what has created this blown out (overexposed) effect; so everything looks lighter/washed out.
