This shifts way early. 2nd gear under 20mph and 3rd under 50mph. The 4.1 gears are probably on the deep side for the 3.06 first in the 700r4. And manual shifting would help. Still a sick car though.

Add some subframe connectors on the nova. It will be very noticeable on how rigid the car becomes. Now you can get better launches, no more body twist under acceleration. I added subframe connectors to mine and it made the chassis like a full framed car. Enjoy the nova

As a 22yr old thats been obsessed with mid 60s, 70s and 80s from the music, movies, the style of dressing and especially the muscle cars i can tell you this is one of the greatest classic american muscle videos ever made! The Nova is Bitchin, the song choice and location was badass man 🤘🏽 got a 3rd gen camaro im building/daily driving and next i want a 70-72 Plymouth Duster, 2nd gen camaro or a Nova doesnt matter the gen but i would love to build a 4th gen 75-79 haha Anyways keep on making more videos of classic american muscle man! 🤘🏽

If you would get a governor kit and raise the shift point on the shifts the 60’ times would be much improved. There’s a few videos on KZbin explaining the process. You can even raise the shift points by grinding the weights you just need a scale to monitor the difference. 👍

I miss my 71 nova. Black on black. Never got around to finishing that project. Had a potent Pontiac 400 engine t400 trans i was putting together for it but hit hard times had to sell it all. Probably the nicest 70's car I ever owned. Always wondered what happened to it. Haven't seen the buyer or the car ever since.

Badass car. That transmission / rear gear combo leaves a little RPM in first and second, however, still dropping a 5 second 60 time is impressive for something of this age. I bet with a little more grunt out of first and second, it would roll into the high 4's.

Lose the leaf springs and try a truck arm kit. Also mini tub the rear so you can use bigger tires.The ride height of the rear is affecting your launches badly, because it won't allow full weight transfer.bring the rear back to stock height, and it will launch so much better. Been working on cars since I was 8. I'm 36 now.Also, put aluminum wheels on it to reduce rotational mass. Meaning,the lighter the wheel, the faster it can turn. Oh,I don't know if you have a floor mount shifter or not, but if not, get one. It will help make the shifts more consistent.

That car would be a lot more fun with a well built 327 (balanced, blueprinted, ported camel hump heads, a hot cam, headers), and an M20 Muncie 4-speed. I had such a setup, and it works well in Camaros. I could rev my old 327 to 6,500 rpm with a hydraulic cam and still not float a valve ( ended up busting a main bearing cap bolt instead after 8 years, should have went with 4-bolt mains).

Sounds pretty close to what I had in a '72 Camaro. I had a '66 327, .030 bored, hot cam, Edelbrock Torker intake, ported camelback heads, headers, Holley 600 4BBL with vac secondaries, M20 Muncie, that engine took a LOT of abuse. It was hard to keep rear tires on it. I use Thrush "Turbo" mufflers on it, and it sounded really bad, especially when the revs got over 4,000.
