Nice gold for 2 hours gold panning!

Had 2 hours to kill in Kamloops, BC, Canada. So I thought I would head over to Tranquille creek a great little public gold panning area and see how much gold I could get in a couple hours. It was not the biggest haul of gold I have ever had, but not too shabby for just having a pleasant day relaxing at the creek.

What a nice job you have! I minored in Geology, and had a grandfather who was a Parks and Rec. major at the local university (WVU). He had a large rock and mineral collection and got me interested in geology and collecting at a very young age. Unfortunately, here in the state of W.V. we have very few precious gems and basically no gold. I wish I lived in an area where I could go weekend prospecting for gold. The West is a dream of mine. Maybe one day I will move out there. In the mean time, I enjoy videos like this. I get to learn and live a bit vicariously through them. I wish you good hunting, Dan!

I visit WV to ride the trails, come to NC to walk the creeks and pan. It's not a far trip and I live near Reed's goldmine in Cabarrus County the first discovered gold in America. Walking waterways is legal in NC, as long as you don't go up onto the land surrounding more than a few feet to get around a deep hole. Whole bunch of black sand bottom creeks in my area, white quartz veins and iron deposits abound.

He doesn’t just pan anywhere, he usually pans in areas that are known for being more rich in gold. If you just went anywhere you’d be lucky to find a couple tiny specs. Also some of these places I think charge to mine there

Most of Dan's trolls have probably never touched a gold pan or used a detector in their lives. They troll because they assume that their knowledge is greater however, experience is just as important as knowledge. You can know about swimming techniques and still sink in the pool.

After the first hour and a half I bailed and picked up a classifier, 100% worth the money, saves so much headache. Then work got busy and crap weather happened and I haven’t gotten out again. This summer I’m planning to hit it a bit harder

something that I've learned watching you and Pauly both is that gold can settle higher up than expected in floods. Granted you won't often find nuggets or even pickers higher up, gold is still gold.

Your videos are awesome Dan! To anyone doubting their panning techniques, I test myself with lead shavings. I weigh them, lose them in dirt, recover and weigh again. If you are good with lead, you will be better with gold. 🤘👍😜

I have never panned for gold, but I like watching you, Dan Hurd. I have always wondered about how much gold might fall out of a pan when seemingly so much dirt falls out on those shakes. In my thoughts, I want to check all of the material in the pan carefully, but I see the way you pan and figure you know what you are doing. I guess I don't really know much at all about this, but its fun watching. If you have earlier posts where you show panning is done, I would love to know. Not sure I would ever take this up as a hobby, I have a lot of back pains and bending and stooping for even short periods is painful. Thx for all the fun videos!

Dan , I tried a spot while on a camping trip. Well my pan was full and I only did 5 pans. But really enjoyed the time one the water. My problem is that instead of finding the elusive shiny yellow, I had pans full of garnets that just about cover my little 8" pan in red. I can't complain cause I was in the creek and under the beautiful skies of mother nature. Happy hunting and stay safe. I can't wait till the next video.

Watched you moving boulders by yourself a while back. I used to move/haul landscape boulders using a set of snow tire chains welded together to make a sling and a come-along. May be helpful to you in some instances. Good hunting.

Hello Dan, greetings from Australia.I have been using sieves that are fitting inside a bucket for close to40 years.I need only one third tohalf of bucketful of water for this classifier to work.In contrary to last couple of years water is in short supply.
