Gold Nugget! - First time down into my Pickerton claim since the water levels dropped from spring run off. I spend the day Metal Detecting the upper bench, finding lots of gold and lots of lead. See the difference, and see who wins the epic metal detector battle of Gold vs Lead. Oh ya, and I found a gold nugget!

Whelp, not bad for a few hours , looked like 23 grams of gold at ~$1,700 USD. However, at the end of the video it was 1.16 grams, and the Gold Price Per Gram is $ 55.32, so not all that much overall from this find. Still a great hourly wage, allot better than working at the local burger joint. An hour or two in great weather enjoying the wilderness, and you made a more money in that time than most. Note: The experience of knowing where to look and not waste your day really helps! The formation of the bedrock acts like a sluice box and funnels the gold into those pockets. Really cool how water and rocks work together!

Hey Dan I'm from Colorado. I used to find a lot of gold in the culverts where the Stream or the Overflow off the roads would drain through. And just below the culvert I would gather the soil right below. Flipping over rocks in the streams and the Big Thompson would usually find small nuggets. Now that it's been flooded several times and the roads have been washed away. I'm wondering if I shouldn't go back and check the areas that I found the gold to begin with. Good luck on your Ventures

I found a bunch of 'fly poops' in the NJ glacier deposit I've been prospecting. The gold is in EVERY sample I've taken from the moraines, but it's all very tiny flakes and only a handful per sample. Still, that means there could be a higher concentration of them from deeper in the deposit. I'm going to get samples from where groundhogs have been digging into the side of the hill, near the bottom.

Hey Dan, great experiencing your Videos. Regarding your water supply, as far as ease of carrying amounts of water, look into a Camelbak, Hydration Bladder, Hydrapak or the like. You can carry much more with you without going back and forth to your water supply of bottles. You can also take it off in place and tether it in the water to have cold drinking water. You also have the option of bringing in your regular bottle supply or increase the size of bottle and use as a refill station for your Camelbak. Cheers and keep your videos rolling

Congrats on your finds. Is the river water not potable? I know there can be stuff in the water but fast running is often not so bad. You might want to look into carrying one of those Lifestraws for extra water if needed. There is another channel that tests before/after of various water filters under microscope and also letting whatever grow in a petri dish. I was really surprised how well the lifestraw worked. Always assumed most of those were just so-so with marketing hype.

Dan, if your finger is the same size as mine then making a crude comparison the bullet looks to be a .44 calibre possibly from a Magnum cartridge and since it is in great shape with rifling engraved in the side it looks like someone fired it across the valley and it wound up there where you found it as the velocity ran out. One could almost reload it and refire it. Here lies another experimentation; what if a bullet with rifling cut in one direction was fired from a firearm with rifling cut in the opposite direction, how would that effect accuracy? Now to quote the bank robber on the ground in the first Dirty Harry movie, "I gots to know?"

As always, loved the video! Always happy when you find gold, Im always rooting for you! Quick thought/Question: I dont know the laws at all so not sure if this is viable, BUT can you bring a shoot/tube with you that can move water up to level where you could be sitting and using your pan instead of squatting? I am sure you are used to squatting after all these years, but just a thought, especially so you dont have to add knees to your issue list 😊 My father was a stone mason and we would always try to figure out better ways for him to work to help his hips and knees.

Hi Dan always look forward to your enthusiasm, each pan holding a suprise or not. How can you tell that some of the larger shale pieces you discard don't hold a flake in an un-split wafer. Anyways keep safe and well all the best from the uk

I so love your videos. I also worried about you. Is there a way to bring in more water? It's a big priority right now so maybe doing things tandem so there's more muscle to carry gear in would be a good idea, for now. Health first! Thank you for all you do for your adoring fans like me!

That bullet is either from a 38-357 OR a 9mm, On another note, I'm getting older too so between us we might could get a full day in. So just let me know if you are needing help, I'll bring my own GM 1000 and pan.
