when a bike comes to me in that condition, the chain and sprockets go into a thinner/gasoline bath on day two. the chain is always worn out, so I don't even put it in for cleaning. scraping dirt is a waste of time

@@JacktriPpEr77 I agree, but the bicycle is not without costs of use, it bothers me the most when people who do not have a lot of money do not maintain the bicycle, and that requires 90% of time and 10% of money. for example, if they use wax on the chain regularly, the chain would last 6 times longer and the cost of that maintenance would be under €10, and if they don't maintain it, the cost is €100

One small question: is it worth using this plastic chain/spoke protector on the rear wheel? Does this protector fit any type of cassette?
@stevengagnon47772 ай бұрын
I personally like them . They do get hard and brittle, so replace them with a new cog set as there is no extra labor involved. Those aluminum alloy derailleur hangers bend pretty easily pushing the derailleur in far enough to over shift into the spokes. If that happens under a large load it jams the chain edge into the spokes cutting them a weakening them and sometimes braking them . We sold many replacement wheels from this every year . Along with a new rear derailleur.and hanger .If the chain got twisted then a new chain too. The hanger can be bent for example parked in a bicycle rack or falls over and not noticed until its in the spokes. So it's a good thing for this kind of bicycle that gets used for running errands and commuting. Or tavern runs as stuff seems to happen during them.😊
@NiceBikeService2 ай бұрын
As for me, this thing is unnecessary and adds extra noise. They say that these plastic rings are put there to prevent the rear derailleur's foot from getting into the spokes, but if your derailleur is properly adjusted, this will not happen.
@stevengagnon47772 ай бұрын
@@NiceBikeService I worked in Madison Wisconsin right in the heart of campus. Children and collage students are pretty careless with parking their bicycles. Those aluminum alloy hangers bend easily. It was a very large University and large bicycle shop. Lots of broken and mangled pa r ts due to the bent hanger. We did have an average of five thousand new and used bicycles sold a year plus repairs. With the plastic guard easy cheap repair. With out it filled our boxes with parts and sometimes very expensive repair or a new bicycle 🚲. So it depends on the type of typical customer.

What lube for chain do you recommend? And that yellow grease for bearings? Great videos.
@NiceBikeService2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The yellow thick grease is Divinol Fett Top 2003. With chain oil, everything is very individual, some people like paraffin oils, and I can't stand them. Motorex dry power and hanseline graphite chain oils worked for me.

I know that bike, it belonged to Ramses II. 🤕 He had obviously neglected her. Aside from this, I think that chain should be replaced or you will damage the transmission, if the misplaced screw hasn't already damaged it; or the drill. Of the chain, I think that changing a link does not serve as maintenance, it is simply changing a normal link for a quick link. You can clean it without open it. Good idea about toothbrushes. 👌 How did you manage to remove the cranksets so easily, with the bike in that state? 😳
@NiceBikeService2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. It's too late to put a new chain on this transmission, as it will be spinning. So we decided to clean it and ride on. The connecting rods came off easily because they did not have time to stick to the axle, apparently it was pre-lubricated
@AmenomejodasPajaritos2 ай бұрын
@@NiceBikeService Well, if the chain is not stretched of course, it is better to take advantage of it while you can. Of course, applying lubricant is a must, and if possible wax. I've applied the 4 toothbrushes yet... Ty a lot!
