This is why I love vintage watches, but none more than the Omega's from this era with the 30T2 movement. I believe that this was the golden era of watchmaking, but of course that is my personal feeling. Keep up the great work Sao, and this is one beautiful collection.

Hi my friend. I was not born rich to be honest. Had to work extra hard to save up and build a collection of my own. Aside from running my business, part of the fun is I need to collect a few pieces of my own as well. It's very addicting and which is why most antique collectors in general are always running out of cash! haha

What a beautiful collection. Great information provided on this historic Omega model(s). As for favorite - hard to pick but has to be number 6 the first gold version you shown. That watch is stunning with the dial, gold case and blued second hand.

Utterly gorgeous! I have a 2179 with a 99xxxxx serial number 30T2 SC calibre but a worn (incorrect) submariner dial and no second hand. I intend to bring it back to as near original as possible, starting with hands and dial. Could you suggest where I might get these parts?
@TimelessHistoryChannel4 жыл бұрын
hmm...If you want to hear honest truth then you're better off buying another complete watch. Finding factory original dial and hands are not easy for a watch of this age or any vintage watch in general. That's why, I always tell people if you're going to buy a vintage watch, best to buy one that is complete and correct. :-( What you can try is maybe message on the Omega forums and see if someone can supply you with one. Good luck!

In general, what do you use for strap replacements since any original strap wouldn't likely be wearable? Do you lean toward Speidel, or is there a diff source yo use? Thank you!
@TimelessHistoryChannel Жыл бұрын
I normally use my own handmade straps, or ones from my local supplier. I do not use Speidel, but try Hirsch.

They are valuable depending on the condition, what has been done to the watch, warranty, and so on... Dial refinish or case polish will definitely affect the value a lot.

Notice:The No.9 CK2834's second hand should not be shorter than the minute hand.
@TimelessHistoryChannel Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. But actually, the hands are correct. When it comes to a 1940s or 1950s Omega “Manual Wind” model, when there is inner minute track, only the second hand follow and not the minute hand. Minute hand will be longer. ONLY the automatic reference that the minute and second hand must follow the track. Hope this help. 😊

Would the radiation of those 40s watch conerns you?
@TimelessHistoryChannel3 жыл бұрын
Not at all. If you discuss with any long time collectors we are blessed that new collectors are afraid. This way we can still buy them at a reasonable price and enjoy some of the nicer watches. As long as I am not licking on the dial or sniffing the radium dust, there is nothing for me to worry about. I have a radon and a geiger in my work shop. Have even tested over 30 radium watches in one room and the radon is not even at the danger level. But if you are afraid, stick to something from the 60s.
