Love the last one. I just purchased my first vintage Omega this weekend. Ref# 198030. I’m already in love with it. Came with original leather band and box. He told me the watch didn’t work but all I did was put a battery in and voila, it works. Best 200$ I’ve ever spent.

Wow man! Amazing collection. I recently aquired a 30T2sc ref.2179 in mint condition, like the 2384 were both purchased by the U.S. Army, altough they were both used by civilians too. It is a 1945 model, even came with its original papers (a kind of booklet from the argentinian importer). Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

That's awesome man. I'll have a part two video of my 30T2 collection hopefully soon. There are about 10 more pieces including my 2179. But the civilian version and not mint like your of course. So take good care of your!

Incredible collection! Wauw! Ps. Quick question - why no visible patine? are the dials renewed? Thanks
@TimelessHistoryChannel5 жыл бұрын
A vintage watch does not need show patina in order to be factory original. When the previous owner takes good care of his watch it will remain in great shape for many many many decades. And it does not mean a watch with patina will be factory original either. It could be an old redial which aged over the years. Know your stuff is the most important thing. All of my 30T2 come with factory original finish dials. NOTHING IS REDIAL.

Have you ever examined your vintage Omega cases and lugs with an eye piece. When I viewed my 1965 gold filled Omega 560cal.'s bottom lug portions with a magnifier I noticed wear holes in the corners and edges. And there's severe hollowed out corrosion pits were the steel or brass used to be. Have you ever noticed this on any of your vintage pieces? Thanks.
@TimelessHistoryChannel5 жыл бұрын
This sort of wear you'll find mainly on gold plated or gold filled model. My eyes are still pretty good to spot these issues without using a magnifier. I try to avoid them. But very minor wear I can live with it.

Just now found your channel and web site. I enjoy your videos and am finding them very informative. I have a couple of questions: do you polish the watches in your collection or the ones available on your web site for sale as you're restoring them? They do not look like highly polished cases at all, but they are usually in pretty nice looking condition and I'm wondering what your thoughts are on polishing. Also, do you ever replace parts like hands or crowns on your watches? The watches in this video are all beautiful and appear to be entirely original; do the watches for sale on your site ever have replacement parts or are they all original? I would like to get a vintage watch or two, but would never consider myself a serious collector, but rather someone that would enjoy having and wearing a nice vintage watch, so I'm not sure how important 100% original would be for me. So, I am interested in your thoughts on this topic. I am blown away by how much you know about these beautiful vintage watches. Thanks for the great videos. I'm looking forward to watching more of them in the days ahead.
@TimelessHistoryChannel5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, follow this link to learn about myself and the sort of work I do to restore a watch: www.omegaenthusiast.com/contact.html - I do not polish the case on my watches. But in some occasion the watch may come to me already slightly polished. But I myself will not polish the case as I like to keep my own watches to be as original untouched as possible. I do not replace movement parts either. Omega do not make generic parts for their movement either. For instance, you cannot take a machine part from a BMW and try installing it into a Mercede, they will not work or fit. I do my best to restore my watches and keeping them as original as I can. Which is why I make those "watch's wrong" youtube videos to educate people.

Awesome Video. Thanks!!! Would it be possible to make a video of "How to clean a dial?" please.
@TimelessHistoryChannel5 жыл бұрын
hi, sorry for the slow response. Holiday season. not all dial can be cleaned up nicely. And on some dial if you try to clean it will remove all the font/print on the dial! That would be a nightmare. Best to let a watch maker do the cleaning lightly while he is working on the watch.

Have you renew some of your dial omega’s? Are you recommending renewing old omega watches?
@TimelessHistoryChannel3 жыл бұрын
I do not collect or own anything that has a renew/refinished/restored dial. All of my watches must retain their factory original finish dial. I do not recommend you to refinish the dial. But it is your watch, so you feel free to do whatever you wish as long as you are happy.

i had a 1943 omega 15 jewel watch that i bought for 10 dollars back in the late seventies on skid row in Vancouver . i threw it away because the balance spring broke and i thought the watch was not worth fixing .
@TimelessHistoryChannel3 жыл бұрын
Ouch. Hurt to hear that, but nothing you can do about it. Only a handful of people were collecting vintage watches in the 90s and early 2000s.

@@TimelessHistoryChannel : the case was fine but the dial was corroded and its quite possible it had seen military duty in the second world war and came home with someone to Vancouver and maybe pawned or sold for the price of a beer or something .

@@TimelessHistoryChannel : i also bought an old 1940-50s connie from a thrift store . it was heavily worn inside the lugs , probably from one of those flex bands that guys used to wear back in the day . the bumper movement still worked fine though but something happened and it got thrown away or something . silly me

The movement is exactly the same as all other 30T2 movement, but since it is a Chronometre version the finish on some parts will differ from regular version. And the regulator bridge has a different regulator design as well.

Great collection! Love those vintage Omegas. However, do yourself a favor and watch your video before you post it to KZbin....they’re pretty messy. Half the time you’re showcasing the watch it’s partially off screen and you keep twisting and turning the watch, just hold it still in front of the camera for a few seconds each time. Also sometimes you’re too close and it’s out of focus. Hope this is constructive for you.
