Also I would be more interested in videos to help people make say $100 a day. Basically enough to not have to work crappy jobs. If one can make $100 day then go from there. These high figure videos get attention but the reality is getting to that level takes years

I only started around 3 years ago 🙂. It's achievable quicker than you think - even through just display ads if you're writing every day and publishing based on a niche you know and understand, and with the right keyword research. We've had a site go from 0 to $6K/mo in 11 months while not having anyone full-time on it last year 🙌

@@jamieif that's pretty awesome! I think my problem is trying to do too many sites simultaneously instead of focusing on one. Things have changed so much over the years... the bottom line is you pretty much have to be an expert in a topic - or write from the perspective of a begginer trying to figure it all out. The key is authenticity :)
@jamieif
@jamieif 2 жыл бұрын
@@CoconutPete Haha I know the feeling, I'd be a lot richer if I just stuck to the main site instead of starting new sites that often don't have much impact😂. Expertise will definitely help (not just in hypothetical [and overrated] E-A-T, but youll be able to write quicker with more high-level tidbits and require less research, etc), but many successful people also learn on the job also and don't start out as experts, just curious beginners! Agreed on authenticity, you need to be personable and build rapport (part of the SPEAR framework) as well as understanding what the user wants. Then good things happen!

@@jamieifHey, Jamie. Any suggestions on niche selection? Do you think self development niche has opportunities?
@jamieif
@jamieif 2 жыл бұрын
@@krystalmarie5637 maybe 🤷‍♂ no idea - it's for you to decide whether you feel you have the expertise, and do your keyword research to find topics you feel you can compete with! If you're the self-development expert, and have the resilience to keep at it without seeing the results for a while, you'll do well 🙂

I always wonder why do these people tell their secrets when it's guaranteed people will copy them? I see this all the time. Could it be they are really trying to sell them?
@jamieif

I hope people find it helpful - they're not unique secrets, I'm sure tons of people know what I know! The industry is big enough for me to still survive while also explaining what i know 😉
@lemmingdot

Nobody comes on these podcasts just to share their "secrets." Everyone has an agenda. I run a very successful site and I'd *never* tell my competition how to beat me. Also, this "helping out" is quite specific to the affiliate marketing industry. You won't see a company helping out its competitors in "real life", LOL. It's a crazy idea, yet people somehow believe that we in the affiliate marketing industry are one big family. :) It's a trap, don't fall for it.

Most people aren't going to do it anyway. And there is just so much out there... it's not like you're competing for the same 10 customers. The world is big and so is the the web and its users.

@@mosesnandi But in many cases you're competing for the same top 5 spots. Why don't companies in non-digital business do the same and 'help' each other out?

@@niche-pursuits Smacked about a fair bit on our sites that didn;t have e-commerce/digital products on them in Google - the others held pretty well. Fortunately, Google even at its peak was only about 50% of our 2 largest sites traffic, so even with a pretty big hit, traffic is only down ~40%. Bing has held well which is our biggest source of affiliate traffic. Still stings a lot though, and enough to make me not consider affiliate SEO as a good long-term play generally to put all my eggs in that basket, so now while I still am trying to recover these, I'm not focusing more on SaaS projects, and our e-commerce projects. Though, if you have an e-commerce site, these tips in this interview on writing affiliate content are still just as relevant as ever and still work! You just need a domain that is HCU-proof!

Very interesting and helpful info, Jamie! Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, the connection on your side was a bit choppy and I missed ~ 15% of what you're saying. For future podcasts, please try speaking slower. I'm reading the transcription - the AI didn't get it either - LOL!
