Nick Wright and Cris Carter discuss the benching of New York Giants quarterback for quarterback Daniel Jones and if Eli should request to be traded instead of mentoring the rookie. Eli has a no trade clause in his contract and has previously expressed no interest in playing for another team.

man i feel for Nick he's being talked down on by Cris bc Cris is a former player and HOF. he knows more about this then him tough spot to be in but it doesn't make Nick's point wrong. mentally you should be prepared to lose your job to a younger transcending player for a franchise. you can't act like it wasn't going to happen the NYG are 0-2 part of that is on Eli so Cris to me is a little wrong here.

I don't want to watch an " opinion" show where the layman's opinion is considered stupid. I'm a lay person, nick is also a lay person I can more identify with his perspective, but if Chris is dismissive of his opinions simply because he didn't play then it makes me feel like my opinions are also invalid. All of this sad talk about Eli Manning is getting out of hand. Eli hasn't been playing well for more than two games. He's been on shaky ground MOST OF his career, outside of two incredible playoff runs and Super Bowl victories.

In CC mind athletes can't be replaced and to entertain the idea that they are dispensable after 14 yrs in the league is the biggest insult. Athletes are such divas these days, grow up! Welcome to the real world where if you're no longer capable of doing your job you are replaced.

Yes but if the Giants were 2-0 They wouldn't be moving on from Eli right now but they're not Carl Banks actually said on an interview the other day that Eli was disappointed but not really upset because he knew it was coming number one and number two he may have even requested it because of where his record was going

Here we go again, Cris thinking that just cause he played that his points are valid and Nick’s aren’t. Nick made a great point. After the atrocious season last year, Eli DEFINITELY should have seen this coming. Then they drafted Daniel Jones, confirming they were nearing transition. Cris just called this dude a “superstar” when Eli hasn’t played up to that level in a few seasons. His time’s done.

Hear me out on this because you have to consider what Nick witness from his favorite team. I know Alex Smith is not on Eli's level, but once they drafted Patrick Mahomes, Alex knee his job was about to be taken. He prepared mentally and also did his part to help Mahomes develop. His point is that you don't draft a QB in the top ten to not start at some point. Everyone knows that but CC wants to compare all scenarios to his from 20+ years ago as a WR

CC comes off as completely unobjective and seems to give Eli's performance WAY more credit than he deserves. The Giants have gone above and beyond what most teams would do in response to (at best) average quarterback play. If Eli didn't expect to be benched at some point in the near future, then he's incredibly naive and lacks self-awareness. They've been a bad football team for years, and any other team would have changed QBs far sooner than now.

Players in this position have in the back of their mind that they will eventually be replaced, but the mindset of an NFL athlete, especially Eli, is “Im the man. Im the starter, and I’m alway going to think of myself as the starter.” Imagine your starting qb thinking he shouldn’t be there..
