From the depths of the most unimaginable pain rises something of sheer, ethereal beauty. It is almost beyond belief that Nick could have come back from the abyss and created this for us. Warren and he have, together, created miraculous, timeless music. Thank you, both.

Beautiful. Looking forward to what's next for Nick. I'm probably a minority but Skeleton Tree, Ghosteen, and Carnage are my absolute favorite work he and the Bad Seeds have done. I know they are constantly evolving which is what made their music stay fresh for decades but I'd be very happy with a few more projects in this style.

Don't want to ruin the mood but as much as I love them too and as much as I love Warren's impact over the years I can't help but feel that this video is an unintentional self parody of some sorts. What was once a new direction seems a bit annoying, especially in this song here. The band is not there anymore, it is just Cave & Ellis. I really hope the next album brings back the band in full shape and gives room to those other talents.

The rock and pop band’s line up after a founding and influential member has left is a fragile, mysterious thing, impossible to quantify. So often the post main member exit of a band is replaced by an equally talented line up with creative forces still being lofty , what other groups would kill for. But the fans don’t buy it, far beyond just the hardcore fans of that particular member, the new band is lacking within both critic’s circles and a fan base ready and willing to keep loving the new material, performances of the group. What happens is a loss of particular magic that those 4 souls in a room created that cant be replaced even with a different stripe of magic. It was something undefinable about those people in a room together. They don’t have that “IT” anymore that made them unique, authentic, so relatable to the audience. It was the ring that got the band even in lesser quality first releases of the group, that got them signed, and rose above equally talented groups coming up at that time. The undefinable “thing” that happened, that hit home and connected. Cave said the lack of guitar left a guitar shaped hole in the group that was new, exciting, powerful. But the hole was the form of Mick Harvey, and it indeed was not because the output, projects, albums without Harvey were not “the same@, no 2 Bad Seeds albums ever were. That chemical or soul connection interplay that produced some essence of what Nick Cave had been with The Bad Seeds, Birthday Party is gone. They COULDVE release a techno record that would’ve been unmistakeable Bad Seeds . The line up of the band and contributions in size were always in flux. How did Cave assemble throughout each edition such players of brilliance and I’m not talking technical, S.Howard , they all brought something irreplaceable. To me, instantly apparent, was (not in grinderman that’s another story), but with Cave /Ellis and Bad Seeds productions, was the “fact” Cave/Harvey were the one combo you couldn’t FUCK AROUND WITH. I don’t know critics view on this, Cave reviews positive or negative was never something I enjoyed. To my small group of Cave long long time fanatics, the impression and reaction and connection is weirdly the same, in the LACK OF ESSENCE and magic felt when listening or seeing the new material and performance of the old. I didn’t think Eno was so much a loss to Rixy rather a sharpener if what Ferry McKay Manzenara honed in on and delivered. There is Bad Seeds in name only without Harvey. The hole Cave spoke of being guitar shaped and beautiful was a Harvey shaped hole that took with it part of Cave’s essence of which there has never been another like. He was the one you couldn’t lose. I’d love to know how other Cave, Bad Seeds fans feel outside my small circle. Is it a lack or a sharpening if we get without Harvey?

Unfortunately, I think that Nick and Warren are starting to repeat themselves quite a bit with some of these arrangements and melodies and sentiments. In some of their soundtracks also. But I'm still very committed to their music and their direction. And Nick & the Bad Seeds are still one of the best live shows out there. Carnage was a great album, however. This track above sounds more like an outtake from Ghosteen.
