the thing that makes mahomes special is also what led to his downfall. The overconfidence in his own abilities was what led to that red zone stop, some of the terrible sacks he took, the interceptions, and it cost them the game. What about the rest of the Chiefs fans who have rooted for this team through thick and thin (and let's be honest, it's been mostly thin since 1970 until Mahomes was drafted)? Do we deserve "humble pie?" Most of us take this loss in stride, knowing that Mahomes played poorly. It is a really poor loss, the defense did enough to beat Joe Burrow who played a very ho-hum game. Mahomes just choked, and we've never seen this out of him on this stage before. Never. Just don't call us bandwagon fans. I remember every brutal thing about every QB we've had since 1988, including that giant freaking cast on Steve DeBurg's throwing hand and all he could do is hand off. Seriously, get a backup QB! My goodness I'm done.

@@MattRowland He never called you a bandwagon. He’s referring to the general chiefs bandwagoners/Mahomes dickriders. They are straight clowns and have such a huge ego on how “great” mahomes is. Mahomes is still young, and he'll mature and learn to keep composure. The other playoff losses before Mahomes hurt because it felt like we were destined to never see a Super Bowl, for all of eternity. Mahomes changed that. Would anyone be surprised if Patrick Mahomes was right back in the AFCC next year? No. I'm optimistic and enjoying having a great team. Can't win every year. Patrick will grow from this.

Nick comparing this situation to the Patriots in 06 blowing a lead is kind of silly. Yes the Patriots blew a lead like the Chiefs but this one is far more egregious imo. The Patriots were on the road, against a vastly superior QB with a severely less talented team. The Chiefs were at home against a talented 2nd year QB with a bad O-line, and scored 3 points in the 2nd half. The Patriots scored 13 in the 2nd half & lost 38-34. The blown lead is the same, the circumstances are wildly different. Also: The Patriots had already won 3 SBs in the previous 5-6 years at that point, they were more of a dynasty than KC at this point. Do better Nick

The Chiefs scored just three points in the second half and overtime Sunday. The Patriots scored 13 points in the second half of their 2006 defeat. Kansas City was at home Sunday, while New England was on the road in a hostile environment in 2006. The 2006 Patriots also weren't a great team. Many of the team's best players from the 2003 and 2004 back-to-back Super Bowl teams had either moved on, were older and not as productive, or were injured. It was a miracle they even made it to the AFC title game after upsetting the 14-2 and heavily favored San Diego Chargers on the road in the Divisional Round. So, the situations are clearly not identical, despite how much Chiefs fans like Wright try to make it that way. -NBC Boston Couldn’t of said it any better myself
@coldwinter54282 жыл бұрын
Plus bradys offensive supporting cast was meh at best that year. Reche Caldwell was his number 1 WR... Reche also dropped what could have been the game winning touchdown. Hill, Kelce and a healthy Mckinnon dwarf Bradys offensive supporting cast that season talent wise.

When Nick Wrong took a dig at Brady and the Pats and tried to make a comparison and said that the Pats loss to Indy in ‘06 was more egregious, I just laughed at how desperate he was to find anything to console himself for this devastating loss. Comparing apples to oranges just so he could sleep well last night. Suffer, Nick.

J-V not just that on the road, Brady and the Patriots was playing against Payton Manning not a second year quarterback Joe Burrow in the league, big difference.
@youtuber_007862 жыл бұрын
OMG the excuses coming from the Brady fans 15 years later. They blew an 18 point lead...PERIOD! And one reason why they were up 21-3? Because Asante Samuel had a pick 6 on Manning. They were in that game because of the genius of BB and shutting down the Chargers the game before. Heck, many had Bills beating KC last week but Mahomes willed his team to victory and didn't get any help from his defense. And let's not forget, DIllon is a better RB than anyone on the Chiefs roster.

I caught that sloppy shot-from-the-hip attempt also: Nick tries to drag Brady/Pats (among others) down with him whenever his team gets exposed. The Manning game was at IND, too, against a Colts team with multiple HOF candidates. CINN was at KC, a traveling youth sideshow vs. the juggernaut of our era (supposedly). Burrow & Chase might reach Canton one day, but Chiefs have 6-7 potential HOFers. Absolutely no excuse for yesterday’s failure. Oh, and, just for good measure: Nick mentions that Patrick “has been to four Super Bowls but Brady had only reached three by the same age“; not only is this factually untrue, Nick conveniently omits the fact that Brady _won all 3 of his first trio of SB appearances_

Nick Wrong, this stuff is hard to do. It's never easy. Rodgers won a Super Bowl 11 years ago. He's just as talented as Mahomes. Dynasties don't just happen because you say it's going to happen. Chiefs gagged like your Legoat in 2011.

Nick, I feel for you. That game was the biggest heartbreak moment of my football fandom life. It wasn't just that they lost, but how they lost. They totally choked the game away. Right down to winning the OT coin toss and being unable to move the ball and then throwing an interception. I never had Nick's swagger about the Chiefs and Mahomes, but it still hurts to see my favorite team fold its tent in such a huge moment. Pathetic performance.
