Hockey is too fast a game to criticize both players here. No question Essimont had the "take no prisoners" finish your check mentality, but I can't fault him for that. Very unfortunate for Jensen. The timing of the collision against the boards was not what you want to see.

League will be talking about 23 in Tampa player for suspension for that hit
@crazycanuck25448 ай бұрын
It's literally the rulebook definition of boarding. "A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently or dangerously." With the game misconduct addition of "When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for an infraction resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed." Defenseless opponent? Check. Opponent impacted boards violently or dangerously? Check. Opponent suffered an injury to the face or head? Check. Honestly laughable how 2 refs, and Toronto combined can't properly interpret unambiguous, clear, written fucking English in a rulebook. This is Eyssimont's second major infraction in a week after jumping on the back of Xhekaj for no reason and he should've been suspended for both of them. This league is a fucking joke.

Look at the timing with the boards right there, total cheap shot, people will say oops, the player will say oops, bullshit, very dangerous place when the guys off balance that distance to the boards, fking cheap Shot.

Yep definitely a predatory hit but it’s clean regardless. A lot of guys make it to the NHL because of a predatory play style. You have to be aware and can’t watch your dump ins like that.

Boarding: when an opposing player pushes, trips or checks an opposing player violently into the boards. Not sure how much more violent you need to make a boarding call. It was also on the verge of being late considering the puck was across the blue line when the hit was made

@@kylewatson9626 It seems more like he ran into the board after the hit because he was kind of skating this way and not the hit itself that sent him into the board. I get the point but it doesn't look like a penalty at all. At least on the review because at full speed it looks like it should

@@matthieucarrier8136 Jensen 100% hit the boards because of the hit 😂 he was 3 feet from the boards, dumped the puck and was shoved from the side. I don’t think Eyssimont’s intent was the injure, however anyone who has ever played hockey at a competitive level knows when throwing that hit how dangerous it could end up. If Jensen was against the boards it would have been fine, but initiating contact from the side that far off the boards and sending him into the boards in the manner should 100% of been called.

How the F$#% was there "no penalty?" That was a boarding penalty ALL DAY LONG!! Brutal! Rule 41.1: A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently or dangerously. The severity of the penalty, based upon the impact with the boards, shall be at the discretion of the Referee. There is nothing in this rule that talks about "from behind" so don't use that as an excuse not to call a penalty. Watch the NHL videos for what they deem to be boarding...all kinds of examples...including from the side.

Nope NHL rule book is different from USA hockey’s. Hit has to be from behind to be a boarding. This is clearing to the front and side. Clean
