Different substance. Different amount found in blood. Different explanations- none for Halep. But they were both able to employ expensive legal teams, Halep and Sinner both being high earning players. So this different treatment argument is just untrue. Sinner was lucky that he worked out quickly where the contamination came from otherwise he probably would not have been able to appeal successfully his suspension like in Halep's case. The only similar case was an Italian player ranked quite low and he had the same treatment as Sinner. The fact is none of the people in the public eye who commented on this are either legal experts or doping experts/pharmacologists or players who think they were treated unfairly themselves. Just attention seekers. To me it says more about their personality and sportsmanship than anything else, you just don't kick someone on the ground no matter what you think privately. Especially if you have been in a media storm yourself before and for things far worse than doping.

Why does Sara Errani come to mind in this context? She's an Italian tennis player with a strikingly deep voice (reminiscent of Francesca Schiavone). Traces of letrozole, a hormonal and metabolic drug, were found in a urine sample taken from Errani on 16 February 2017. She claimed that her mother had to take the drug because she had developed a tumour years ago. When preparing pasta for the family, her mother had accidentally contaminated the food with letrozole. The pasta eater was nevertheless banned. Incidentally, Sara has just won an Olympic gold medal in doubles, together with another Italian tennis player who has made a huge leap in performance this year: Jasmine Paolini. - I can't help but think that the sport of tennis is facing similar revelations as cycling during the Armstrong era.
@Sobchak22 ай бұрын
Sara Errani doesn't have a deep voice at all, why do you have to make things up? Letrozole is an aromatase inhibitor used to treat estrogen-dependent breast cancer in post menopausal women. That's what Sara Errani's mother was taking to treat her own breast cancer. Letrozole is a banned substance because men who take anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) have sometimes used it to prevent the feminising effects of AAS. Also, letrozole can increase serum testosterone in men. It wouldn't have made any sense for Sara Errani to take letrozole to improve her sport performances, really. It's not very difficult to understand it, but you do need to have some notions of pharmacology to be able to have an informed opinion on this.

To immediately announce that someone failed a drug test and punish them, before a full investigation of the facts has been done, is criminal -- in America, at least, you are innocent until proven guilty. I've watched Sinner play tennis, and it's not doping that makes him a great player -- it's his stroke mechanics, court sense, and solid mental center that make him great. Just the mental part alone has a vastly greater effect on how a player does on court compared to doping -- just look at how the mental strain on Alcaraz at the Olympics representing his country kept him from getting the gold medal, and its brutal aftereffects at the US Open. @Ineddiblehulk Maybe Nick should do some proper research before making bull-headed comments - and maybe you should too before trusting everything Kyrgios says. Marco Bortolotti (2023) and Matilde Paoletti (2021) - both italian players who had a similar cases (re: Clostebol) and were exonerated quickly. These were the precedent cases referenced in Sinner's trial report. These were lower ranked players who were given due process and were treated as fairly as possible. Why should Sinner be treated differently from them? Wouldn't that be anti-double standard discrimination? Come back when you've got facts to prove and not just sticking up for an ignorant Twitter troll who hasn't even won a Masters 1000 but talks like he's the Michael Phelps of tennis. Please.

@@Ineddiblehulk You're talking nonsense. Until a couple of weeks ago you didn't even know what 'preferential treatment' meant.

There is no fallout. Kyrgios is working very hard to get back into the limelight and whatever he says, is of no consequence. Djokovic is boiling inside because Sinner keeps beating him, so we know HIS motivation to poke his nose into this. It is usually those who are about to be forgotten who make the biggest stink.

You should charge Djokovic for living in your head
The H2H is still 4-3 in favour of Novak - my dear child 😂😂😂😂😂 That hard fought Turin round robin win - inspite of Novak winning more points - is of no consequence because Novak won when it mattered in the Turin finals by spanking both the kid and Sinner back to back in straight sets. LoL 😂😂 Sinner was humiliated in front of his home crowd in Turin finals. And he erred by beating Rune and paid a big price. LoL 😂 😂 😂 Still he leads in Grand slams 2-1. LoL 😂😂😂😢 So don't br@g like an 1d10t.
