It's an (now old as can be ) Ford Taurus name that had deep ties with early 90s Ford Racing. It stands for Super High Output. Ford had an idea to collaborate with Yamaha in the early 80s and created the 3.0 DOHC V6 aluminum SHO which at the time made 220 hp and 200tq. Heavily underrated as it would overtake Fords 5.0 on the regular. I've always loved sleepers and there's really not more of a factory design that holds a stronger version of a sleeper. They produced the SHO (the real ones I'd say) from 1989-1995 and then a cool tiny V8 version in 1996-1999 which I love also, but only come automatic. Those are really rare now too. 3rd gens were cool, but lacked the soul of OG SHO character. The 3rd gen SHO was awd and had a 3.5 L Twin Turbo V6 ..pretty sick still. I've always been a car dork but cars cost too much to keep up I feel like...I'll get the SHO going again hopefully

Toyota and Yamaha collaborated to build the head of the DOHC a little earlier in the 70’s. Big Toyota fan here. I have a 3rd Gen Hilux (pickup) that came with an 18r (cammed 22r in it now) and want to put the 1st gen celica DOHC engine in it. The 18rg. Group B Rally engine. 18rg uses basically the same block as the 18r.
