I feel like Nick is very self-sabotaging, almost to a pathoIogicaI degree. It seems like he’s often depressed, regardless of whether things around him are going well or not, and he refuses any praise for his work - he’ll create awesome things (like the TAFS opening shorts) and nearly 100% of the audience will be like “this is great, keep doing this please!” …but then he’ll go “ahh, people don’t like this. I genuinely enjoyed making these and it made me happy, but people don’t like it, and so it’s like what’s the point.” At the same time, he’s a truly cerebral person - which is very rare - so he’s cognizant of all this and self-aware of how absurd it is (ie. the illogical disconnect between depression, happiness, productivity, meaning, fulfillment, etc etc). For a lot of people who deal with depression, you can just tell them to go to therapy, but honestly with individuals like this, they see right through it and are able to anticipate & dismiss the therapist. It’s pretty tragic. I just hope someday he’s able to take a step back, get out of his own way, and realize that people like him - he’s hilarious and smart and creative, we really appreciate what he does, and we’ll be here for whatever he gets into next.

Honestly Adam has been killing it with the interviews, and while the opening shots were fire, they weren't the reason to watch the interviews. Nick leaving wouldn't affect that aspect.

Nick is great, but reading these comments and the comments in the sub good lord he's become overrated. And it's not even his fault. Some of his fans are at actual cult level. It is depressing to read. I say this as a cumtown fan and fan of this podcast/show. Adam has been the better part of it almost since the start of TAFS, and it's because of the interviews. Doubling down on those is smart and I see this as a relief.

lol nick is such an idiot. they had such a good format here, with Adam being a great interviewer, and Nick's skits being funny and original, especially the one before the cuomo interview. instead of capitalizing on this, putting in the work, and actually getting guests for adam/writing and filming skits, he whined like a baby on the podcast for three years. he wants to make films? write or direct something? he had his opportunity to prove his talent with TAFS, but since all he did is sit on his ass and complain instead of actually making something, there is a much, much smaller chance of anyone in the business taking him seriously. just so, so dumb.

For real though, Nick says that he doesn't know what he'd contribute to a classic interview style web show but his presence will genuinely be missed. Adam is funny don't get me wrong, but Nick is too. A lot of great interviewers had sidekicks. Some were greater than others, I don't imagine anyone wants to be the next Andy Richter, but still. Nick probably wants to leave for plenty of other reasons too I'm sure, and this isn't a "fuck nick" or some entitled "why is he REALLY leaving" thing. It's just if he's leaving because he thinks he isn't funny or not good enough or whatever then this random gay commenter would disagree. Whatever he chooses to do from now on I wish him the best.

I just found Cum Town like a year, year and a half ago, something like that... Maybe not even that long. Stav was kinda annoying but he really brought a lot of energy to Nick and Adam who both seemed pretty low energy delivery to me. Adam brought some funny moments and was very cool in that he was the butt of many jokes and took it well (better than Stav did apparently). Nick is the main person that made me laugh. Nick was by far the funniest of the three, to me, and I loved his broad knowledge of culture and things that he could make jokes on basically every topic, I loved how talented he was at impressions... I didn't get into TAFS because the bits I did watch seemed very low energy and not as funny. Now with Nick leaving it's like... well if I was ever gonna get into TAFS there's no point now because I would've only been here to listen to Nick. Fuck. I'm gay.
