I love your points about coming out and societal norms. I liked how Tara was also upset when someone said how brave she was and they never expected it. I didn't accept my own sexuality until after I was 20, and after still never felt the need to come out.

I also never accepted my sexuality until I was 23 years old. My experiences shapes my way of thinking and pray my viewers find happiness within themselves on their own terms, as I have, no matter the age. I aim to create a safe space for the younger ones to see that it’s okay to be themselves unapologetically. 🫶🏾

When I first saw episode 5, I legit thought Imogen was pulling something with the “my dog died”, like she was lying to keep Nick from canceling the date. The sudden emotional switch you pointed out didn’t help that. It was a couple scenes later when I fully realized “oh, no, this is an actual plot point, and her dog really did die, oops.” 😳

Yes! The emotion switch threw me off because I was like wait a minute… 😂😂 but I felt bad for her just didn’t want her using that to hold Nick hostage because he and Charlie deserve better lol

Great reaction! You mentioned something in passing that resolved some confusion I had with Tao. "He's protecting his friendship." That's it precisely. Not trying to mis-use your words, but that makes a lot of sense to me. Annoyingly, Tao is very dismissive of Charlie as an individual: he dismisses Charlie's opinions, Charlie's interpretation of events, Charlie's agency to make decisions for himself. And yet, Tao does get into it with Harry on multiple occasions, acting protective. Tao doesn't know how to value Charlie as a person, but Tao does value their friendship. Thanks for the insight.

Yes!!! And that’s what I didn’t like most about Tao is that he never valued what Charlie wanted or had to say. But I did appreciate him valuing their friendship and protecting Charlie.

Tao disregarding Charlie's opinión that Nick might like him back and going behind his back to ask if Nick was single was disrespectful. He had good intentions but created more problems and confusion. He said it with such conviction too. He's in love with a girl! 😑 Such an incorrect assessment of the situation based on gossip. Way too invested in Charlie's love life, just like Nick's friends were way too invested in his.

nick and charlie has a speical bond and their connection towards each other and also there chemistry so powerful.and there passion is so magical and the hug that nick gave charlie is for saying iam sorry that u feel u have to keep this a secaret to me nick feel so bad that he ask charlie that but charlie is makeing sure that nick is ok that he will be there though the rough and good and he will support him in verty thing he goes though because they both love each other . and i love how nick was honest to charlie explaning what happen and how he feels and also to Imogen as well it take alot for sameone to press there feelings to people that they care about. and the photo was so beautiful them them in the snow together haveing a speical magic time together

8:38....THANK YOU! As a dog lover, that scene with Nick & Imogen BOTHERED THE F out of me! I have watched a TON of Heartstopper reaction videos and this is the FIRST ONE that has addressed how FAST Imogen went from sad about her dog dying to INCREDIBLY HAPPY about where they were going on their date...I mean...not even a transition period for that. As someone who has loved and lost SO MANY dogs in my life...it would take me WEEKS to do anything joyful afterwards...as long or longer than it would for most humans I've lost in my life, tbh. It is about the ONLY part of the show that I thought was poorly done.

Yes, my mom lost our dog and she was emotionally a mess for a while. So I felt like Imogen just used that to keep Nick locked in.

Nick is getting all the attention, but I honestly feel Charlie is equally, if not more, the better boyfriend. He sacrifices his own needs to make sure Nick feels safe to figure out who he is and what he wants, even as it puts him in a similar position as he was in with Ben. He protects Nick’s secret even at the expense of his own friendships. Charlie empathizes with Nick because he knows how difficult coming out (or being outed) in the school can be and he wants to make sure Nick is ready. He tolerates abuse at the hands of Harry and Ben to continue to protect Nick. Yes, Nick is a sweet guy who is caring and supportive, but Charlie is actually doing most of the heavy lifting here. I think the issue is that many of us identify with Charlie and we’ve always wished we could have a Nick in our lives… Nick is a fantasy man for those of us who may feel like he’d be out of reach for us. I also think there’s some pretty privilege going on in the fandom… which sadly reinforces what someone like Charlie feels in terms of feeling inadequate or unattractive. Joe Locke has already pointed out he was trending on Twitter for being ‘ugly’. This kind of crap boils my blood. No 18 year old should have to deal with such toxicity based on a role in a show that’s supposed to be very positive.

I agree, I think we do identify more with Charlie as most of us as have had similar backstories. I praise them both equally this season as I just love them so much. I do think that Nicks ability to be handle situations, the way he does, at such a young age is what really captures me because like WOW. I do love them both equally, although Charlie will forever be my baby and I will protect him at all cost lol And Charlie is far from ugly so those people must be mistaken because that’s completely delusional.

You mentioned at 6:21 how Charlie looked so tiny. Kit mentioned this in an interview that both he and Joe are actually very close in height, only 2 inch difference between him and Joe, whereas in the books Nick is supposed to be a little bit more taller than Charlie.

Tao is woefully misunderstood because we know that Nick's feelings are real. As far as Tao knows, Nick and the rugby lads were awfully homophobic to Charlie the previous year, Nick doesn't stop the lads from being verbally or violently abusive to Tao and his friends, so he thinks that Nick is faking his friendship with Charlie to play a joke on him.

I get it, I really do but I think sometimes it comes off as jealousy. Like he immediately writes Charlie’s feelings off for him, tries to find any little thing to sabotage their situationship and then gets angry with Charlie for putting his attention on Nick while taking his attention off of him. Like I said, I get Tao sometimes, and other times I don’t.
