I had a viral infection the prior week of this video being made so I really needed to beat the hell outta my drums after being out sick for a week. Heres a warm up example video when playing metal material.

You are definitely not the only one watching this in 2012.. I have been watching this since mid '09. Nick is the main reason I started playing drums. Much support Nick!!!

Man you cease to amaze me with the stuff you do. Every video is just awesome.

You are icnredible at the drums. I've learned new things just watching you play. You are an inspiration, keep it up man.
@monkeychunkey14 жыл бұрын
I find it so amazing how he blasts so clean with the traditional grip. It's like the flying fingers technique but instead of fingers flying, they are like flapping. The butterfly blast. Or something else.
@konarider15 жыл бұрын
I got to get some octobans on my kit!!! Dude, this is so sick...a metal improv solo that isn`t just constant boring blast beating. You have so many fresh and innovative ideas man it`s nuts! 5*

Sick drumming! I don't think I've seen a traditional grip blast beat in my life. Really impressive.

Ahaa. I have just hold some pairs of 2BN's in my hands but never tested any. I was about to buy them but then I bought Harvey Mason signature ones. And I have always had wooden sticks, so I don't know what does the other kinds of sticks feel. You have had any and if you have, could you tell a bit about some? I would be pleased :) great warm up btw :P

i like the green drums i wish i could get them but were they seperate to the kit or with it
@domthecolossus15 жыл бұрын
well if you want heavier with a nylon tip, the only thing i can suggest is (if you are willing to switch from wood to aluminum) is to go with tommy lee's signature stick. it's quite thinner than a 2B, but ways a little more than them without feeling gross...
@Monstretundersengen14 жыл бұрын
Dude this video is what finally got me to get off my bum and get a little drum kit of my own. I've only been bashing stuff for about a month now but I'm getting there! :D Just letting you know that you've inspired at least one kid to hit stuff and make cool noises! I'll copy this some day, just give me 25 years O.O Mad skills!
@Jay_EmTea15 жыл бұрын
Few things that caught my eye: 1. I like how he has about 14 different cymbals 2. How he's SO fast the cymbals move without him touching them in normal play(exaggerated comment, but who gives a damn) 3. Nick Peirce used be with the Faceless And 4. Just nicks drumming skills in general, best I've seen. Nick Peirce is one of my drummer heroes.... Next to Greg Donnelly (drummer for Conducting From The Grave)
@magikarpp13 жыл бұрын
im totally taking ur technique as inspiration/model for my technique, u rock.
@domthecolossus15 жыл бұрын
they actually do make bigger for kit thomas lang's signature stick is the beefiest wood stick on the market way bigger than a 2B, but smaller than a marching stick if that helps any......
@RatedRTV14 жыл бұрын
like the traditional grip for metal!!! rarely see that these days. i am not a big metal drummer,but i can tell you got some chops bro. keep it up!
@Nautamies15 жыл бұрын
I used to have that problem few months back, what model are those sticks? I personally like 5A 55A and 5B's. I was just setting up my seat and kit better so I wouldn't hit the rims so much. And that worked, I'd recommend that for you
@Unrated4814 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I got a crappy drumset and i'm wondering if I could get a sound close to your toms even if yours are acrylics, mine are simple wood I guess, And I'm using Evan G2 I think... I'm not sure what I should try to get a better sound. Tune it high or low ?

Wow dude thats quite the anomaly, usually a custom crashes get cracked withing a year. But then again I have to replace every cymbal in my setup minus hihats and a ride every year. I just started the switch over to meinl last week. $800 later. oof

I'm actually switching to Meinl myself. Their cymbals are so rediculously musical sounding and versatile. I just picked up an 18" Byzance dark china and its the best upgrade I've had in years. Its trashy, cuts right through and it has killer riding qualities. No other china I've had can live up to that cymbal. I highly advise that move my friend.

Wow! First of all, nice drum kit dude! Second, awesome stick control and attitude! :D But where the hell was your battlecry or insane shout at the end? That would have been, should I say more than "the most of bestest thing" to end that mayhem! ;)

6:45 is fucking sick. the whole thing is actually very song-like in its structure, and for improv, was fuggin ridunculous.

I use 2BN Vic Firths. I'd prefer a Hardimon Jr. with the acorn nylon tip and the taper of a 2BN. In a perfect world of course.

I've cracked 2 of them in a short period of time. I'd get a 15" or 17" Zildjian A Medium Thin Crash. Way better sounding and more durable. Brilliant Zildjian cymbals tend to crack easier.
