Nick's Cafe Charlieville Chaguanas T&T - Bread ,Channa and Cheese

The name Nick's is synonymous with Bread,channa and cheese. This sandwich has put them on the map for some awesome home cooked sandwiches . The most popular the channa and cheese, chowmein, chicken and chowmein mixed and liver.
History from Nick's Daughter - The shop has been there about since 1954.
It's been in the family for about 65 years.
My grandma (Mokiman Ali) was the one who started The Cafe back in the day.
After her, it was my dad's brother and his wife (Ishaan and Aisha Ali) running the cafe, there Menu was pretty different back then just your basic channa sandwich and black peas, in those days you got a sandwich for only 25 cents.
My dad was born in 1951, little did he know that he was next in line to take over the shop.
In 1963 my dad was 12 years old without any further education but the basic primary school education, he started running the cafe (56 years later, the cafe has become a landmark for Charlieville, Caroni Savannah Rd)
and the menu has changed tremendously
From Bread and Channa, to Channa and Cheese , Chowmein with Channa, even Stewed Chicken , Chicken Liver and Gizzard. The best part of being part of the community of Charlieville, is that he has see so many changes throughout those 56 years, and everyone is treated like family.
Their opening hours are Monday to Saturday 5am to 3pm

I buy from them every so often and always enjoyed it. Never noticed until now that they dont use gloves to serve especially knowing hes holding the bread and channa usually drips out the sides. Would be good if the guy handling the food wear gloves. Feel that should go without saying

@@joannedouglas3250 doubles men don't touch the Bara though. They use clippers to pick it up. I know there are some who use hands but they have someone seperate collecting $. And once it's on the paper they use spoons to dish out channa and other condiments. I think the issue really is this guy could be touching other surfaces as well as money. N he's not washing his hands. That's how others get sick. Better to be safe than sorry.

To the misinformed fools commenting on the use of gloves please educate yourselves and don't advertise your stupidity on the internet! Food safety requires hand washing NOT gloves which are not sterile and could have any number of germs on them because they're NOT WASHED! people touch the outside of the gloves before putting them on, transferring the germs from their hands to the gloves and into YOUR FOOD! Do you wear gloves when you knead flour?Do the kitchen staff at the restaurant/bakery wear gloves? or the 👩🏻‍🍳👨🏻‍🍳 chefs on TV? Anyways, they've been in business for decades, humble and hard-working.I'm pretty sure they don't need your advice or $✋🏻🧠 Knowledge is power..Read!📚
