As an LSU fan it’s a very bitter sweet moment. Happy that we won’t have to play a Saban team next year; but in the same breath, now you can’t have “beat Saban’s bama” as an accomplishment/goal of the season.

Too many signs there to not see it. 17 million on a house in Florida. Co-owning 2 Mercedes car lots...in Florida, both before the season started. So it’s my freshman year at Bama (2016) and my parents are visiting for the first time and my mom wanted to go to morning Mass at St. Francis! It was my first time since I had been in college, so we decided to sit in the back and about five minutes in two people shuffled in next to us without me paying much attention until my dad (a diehard Georgia fan and alumni) said “holy shit” and wouldn’t you know I looked over to see Saban and Ms Terry sitting right next to us! They both chuckled and my dad ended up apologizing, and we got to speak with him a bit during thanks before communion!

I feel so fortunate as an Alabama alumnus and football fan as I attended when Coach Bryant was there and lived to see this amazing Saban Alabama Dynasty. In addition to enjoying the teams’ success over the Saban tenure, I have always been so impressed with his development of players, his caring for Alabama and the entire sport of College Football as well as the amazing things he, Ms. Terry & his foundation have done for so many people in Tuscaloosa and the entire state of Alabama. I hope and pray that Coach Saban and his entire family are in good health and he gets to enjoy more amazing times as a husband, father, grandfather and son. After some long overdue family time, I suspect he will get involved in a less time-demanding role to protect and help the sport he loves. Thank you so much Coach Saban for every second you spent at Alabama! As Josh noted, there is a lot of toxic stuff happening in college football that could have accelerated his retirement plans but I mostly hope that he and his family are happy. Roll Tide 🐘!

When I became a Bama fan Coach Bear Bryant was the coach. After Coach Bryant retired the program had some highs but certainly plenty of lows. When Coach Saban came on the program was restored to its glory. We’ve enjoyed an amazing run with Coach Saban, but the time has sadly come for him to call it a day and focus on his family. He’s earned that a million times over and I wish him luck. I also wish the AD luck in finding the right person to be the successor.
