Nick Shoulder has my ear in 2020 as did Bob Dylan in 1960, been listening to him for about two months l like he's songs and remakes of some of the old songs with his twist to them. You don't need total perfection to be a good singer and performer he is raw and down to earth what you see is what you get. Thumbs up and keep the songs coming. l think the thumbs down are people that don't have the strength in there wrist to point there thumb up so take it as a thumb 👍

am so weary, I’m as glum as I can be. All y’all have lost it, I meet your madness with pity, I don’t blame you for being scared, but its the wrong direction that your teeth are bared. We’re fully busted, we know the ship has run aground, the things your trusted, they burned the farm and moved to town and though I might eat all of my steaks rare, I never sold my soul to a billionaire. I keep the door, open for you. Bound and determined, you can’t lie to me. Bound and determined, to ruin everything. You say you’re country, you lay a claim unto the soil, if you were country, you’d save your land from being spoiled, do you drink water, do you breathe air? I think if you were really country you would fucking care. I’d be just like you, if I were fed the things you’re fed, I’m just as frightened, we’re off the rails we’re in the red, you’ve got opinions but your proof it lacks, and only one of us is dealing in alternative facts I keep the door, open for you. Bound and determined, you can’t lie to me. Bound and determined, to ruin everything. Do you love freedom? Or security in dreams, is life worth living if there’s lead in the last stream? To a glutton what’s allegiance worth, if the meek like me are to inherit the earth? Its not oppression, to ask for basic decency, you’ll learn your lesson, while you’re repeating history, and if this song get’s me shot, at least my voice it wasn’t silent you’ll forget me not. I keep the door, open for you. Bound and determined, you can’t lie to me. Bound and determined, to ruin everything.

@@littlerockstar5729 Pot kettle black. Ignorance means lack of knowledge or information. Nick clearly has an excellent grasp on history and the legacy of his ancestors. He acknowledges it, embraces it, but knows that it wasn't all gold. There's shit that needs to be acknowledged and atoned for. If you're upset with this message, you're the poor lil snowflake in this scenario

Nick is the man! And good on y’all for that intro and embracing history rather trying to erase it like everyone else these days.
@jamesveccie4 жыл бұрын
He's pointing out the hypocrisy of southerners trying to gloss over their racist history in order to justify discriminating against (primarily) black people. He's not embracing that racist history, he's rejecting it. Listen to the lyrics carefully.
@calebtws4 жыл бұрын
james v I’m referring to the video itself and the production at this location. Everyone wants to tear down history and pretend it didn’t happen rather than embracing history for its lessons, learning from it, and going forward with those lessons.
@Zvox3 жыл бұрын
@@calebtws I'd be careful using the word "everyone" in this context. The people that are trying to pretend history didn't happen are not "everyone", they're the right wingers that have been trying to rehabilitate the image of the Confederacy since the civil war ended to be about "heritage" and "history" rather than what it actually represented, the rich starting a war to defend what they viewed as their right, to own human beings. There's a reason Nick pointed out that the reason that neighborhood is historically black is because it used to be slave quarters. I'm assuming from your use of the word "tear down" that you mean the removal of monuments to the Confederacy. Nobody that wants confederate monuments torn down is doing it because they want to pretend it didn't happen, they want to do it precisely BECAUSE they learned from history and know what happened. The only reasons those monuments exist is to preserve a legacy of white supremacy, a statue does not exist as a source of education. If you're getting your education from looking at a bronze statue of a dude that did heinous shit while fighting for a heinous cause, there's something seriously wrong.
@HeathsHobbyLobby3 жыл бұрын
@@Zvox it's the Democrats that are the ones trying to tear it down. The ones that were involved in it. The ones that promoted slavery. Now they want to tear it down. I bet they do! Once they start tearing this stuff down then it's the history books, but who are we kidding they have already messed with that.
