Norm was a big part of Nick's life. I heard that when Nick first moved to LA, he met Norm at some shady diner. Norm showed him around town and was a good friend. Norm than invited Nick to his first Hollywood party, really crazy party he said. "Lot's a drinkin, lots a dancing, lots a fornicating." Nick was shocked, an actually Hollywood party. "What should I wear?" Nick asked Norm. Nick was a bit nervous ya see. "I don't give a damn, it's just gonna be us two."

Norm's always been one of my favorite comics, but this Reno story has solidified him as the GOAT to me. He realizes his friend is messing with him about moving to Reno, so he decides to just lean into it. Even calls him up later to be like, "so, when we moving to Reno?" Nick's like, "Norm, I'm not moving to reno, it was a joke." So what does Norm do, knowing he's probably not got long. Confide in a mutual acquaintance how much he's looking forward to moving to Reno with Nick, on the off chance they'll bring it up after he's gone.

I think he was everyone’s family member in a way. I mean, it doesn’t matter the year, that man was in the mainstream for as long as anyone can remember. Whether it was his early SNL days, to his recurring character on The Middle, or his stint as Col. Sanders, Norm always popped in in our lives every little bit, and every interaction with him always left you just feeling good. Like you’d just seen a dear uncle, sometimes out of the blue. Norm just had that relatability and familial demeanor in a way that truly makes him feel like a family member. I really can’t think of another “celebrity” who I feel that same bond with than Norm, and like so many other family members his death was unexpected and made me really value all that he gave. One of a kind.

Walters saying "YOU'RE supposed to be FUNNY!!" and not even realizing that the vast majority of the world would watch this and think it's one of the funniest things to EVER happen on The View, honestly just makes it that much funnier!!! So good!! Norm was 1of a kind, un- fuk with-able, gold standard comedians to ever bless this earth with his unique brand of humor. I don't really look up to celebrities like pop stars or actors , but there are a handful of comedic geniuses out there that I'll be genuinely sad to see go. He was at the top of that list and the world is a slightly less pleasant place to be in his absence.

One thing I loved about Norm is that he never made fun of his friends when others expected him to. His bit on the Bob Saget roast was genius. If someone expected Norm to perform a different way, he did the opposite. Every single time. From the roast, to the Iowa State Fair, to his podcast and show. Even when Spade had him on his show and they wanted him to blast OJ and he refused to do it and claimed he was only guilty of being the “greatest man to ever carry a football.” One thing I did notice was that he LOVED Nick. On his podcast and show they had him on and he was so good. Norm loved Nick and you can tell it was mutual. Norm is my #1 comedian of all time. Yes that’s subjective, I love Carlin, and Pryor and Chappell and I really like Theo. But no one could get me laughing like Norm. The best of the best.

Towards the middle of the night he was up on the platform where the dancers do their sets. At one point he stopped dancing, looked directly at me, smiled, ate his cigarette and dove like he was crowd surfing a bunch of ghosts and belly flopped the dance floor. 😆 He instantly got up from the ground and kept dancing. 🤣 It was hilarious!
