In 2019 I got out of my car at a Walmart to get my daughter a school lunch and as soon as I look up I see a guy 20ft away put a gun to his head and pull the trigger killing himself. A dude got shot in the face on my block and the city never cleaned up the blood. I used a bucket to wash away the spots in front of my building and the rain took care of the rest eventually. For like a week afterward I would walk my dog and have to pull her away from trying to lick the blood. The guy lived, btw. Some gang thing where they shoved a gun in his mouth in his doorway and blew his jaw off. He was running up and down the block groaning and spilling blood everywhere. That was East New York. I live in Crown Heights now.

A guy got stabbed right outside my window and he bled out waiting for the cops to get there. It was some sort of fight at a funeral for the lady next door who just died. I guess it was someone from his family who stabbed him. There was a bunch of family out there yelling and screaming and crying, really nothing I could do. I think I was watching Kanye West videos on KZbin at the time and I just went back to that. The fire department did come the next day and hose the blood off the sidewalk.
