Let’s just pretend that Kevin Love and the rest of the Cavs squad didn’t show up as usual. Lol! KD started 1-7 from the 3 and really didn’t pick up the pace until later in the second half. Lebron wouldn’t have scored nearly 50 points if André Igoudala wasn’t out. There were honestly bad calls throughout the game. Let’s not just chalk up the loss to the charge that the refs called. Not saying that isn’t a factor but there’s so much more that happened throughout the game to consider. My hat is off to Lebron for an outstanding performance; however, this is the NBA finals with the 2 best teams in the league competing against each other. Expect the unexpected, play with the hand that you’re dealt and hope for the best.

@Sally Woods So your ok with the refs breaking the rules?? I am saying the call could have gone either way, NO WAY was it definitively one way or the other, and replay didn't help, and the proof of that is the on-call NBA ref the casters used said he thought it was a charge lol, so don't give me that "missed called" it was a judgement call.

I dont care who wins... but in my opinion.. nick is 100% right. Refs can only review to check restricted zone. If he is out of the zone then the call remains a charge. The refs did overstep their authority.
@C2Poke
@C2Poke 6 жыл бұрын
The NBA rule clearly states that referees can only review a Block/Charge call "when they are not reasonably certain" as to whether the defender was inside or outside the restricted area. Lebron was CLEARLY 3 feet outside the restricted area when he drew the charge on KD, so the refs could not have been uncertain about whether or not he was in the restricted area. Therefore, the play didn't qualify for review. You cannot review a Block/Charge call just because 2 refs made different calls. The Cavs got robbed.

How can anyone - even a Warriors fan oozing blue and yellow - not come to a consensus that the officiating was garbage in the 4th? First LeBron loses the ball because of a Looney foul that goes uncalled. Then he makes a defensive play causing Durant to lose the ball...overturned for free throws. Then LeBron draws a charge (legal guarding position is clear, you cannot debate this) that gets overturned. Next possession, the refs call a fair foul on Klay for putting george hill on the ground (probably not intentionally). After Hill misses the last free throw and J.R. is in the middle of his worst decision of all time, LeBron is RIGHT in the face of the ref asking for a timeout for at least 2 seconds of game clock. This is the finals between arguably the two best teams in the NBA. How is the officiating so bad? Also, in OT when Tristan Thompson got thrown out for contesting a jumper. Even the announcers were calling out the officiating throughout the game. GG to the sports world this year honestly. Basically every sport has become refball...first it was the NFL with ruling catches as not catches in crucial game winning plays (Steelers vs. Patriots), now it's in the NBA Finals. I think I'll just watch some hockey or something at this point.

@kurteybean193

While I don't disagree that the rule is fundamentally broken, I'm just arguing that if that is the rule, that a defender can get a legal guarding position and draw a charge, then they should stick with it. I've seen James fouls get not called all the time too, but in this particular game, the 4th quarter was HEAVILY biased for the Warriors. The NBA officiating is garbage if the idea that these calls are balanced out by the no calls on James. Just call everything correctly and solve the problems or have everyone stop watching the NBA (as they already have been leaving in droves since the 90s)

jhelz william , that was the correct call. Bron foot was still sliding when Durant started his notion. That's a block. They didn't review the call. They reviewed where LeBron's feet were as they could not see it on real time. You can review a call because of that in the last 2 mins if it is an out of bounds play, a flagrant, or a play around the restricted area. Once they do that, they can review a foul if one was called. That's what happened. People are mad because they don't know the rules & it happened to LeBron. No one would be saying this if this happened to KD. Everyone would be lauding the refs for getting the call right.
@joshuasaunders7369
@joshuasaunders7369 6 жыл бұрын
his feet were closer to the dotted line than to the restricted line. They used that as an excuse to review the call. There was nobody in that building that thought he was inside that line. Period. I would be saying this regardless. I don't want the correct call if it is done through review, penalties should not be reviewed like this.

they couldn't have broken the rule when a call was never made. that's what people like you don't get. the refs made a call here. they went to review b/c they had a ""trigger" if lebron was in or out of the restricted area. but he wasn't even close to the restricted area. so they used a trigger that shouldn't have been a trigger to reverse a call that was made on the floor. THAT was illegal b/c they made up their own trigger in order to review a call.

just like they admitted in the last 2 minute report that green violated the lane on hill's 2nd FTA, but it DIDN'T warrant a whistle. same case here. love violated the rule, but it wasn't blatant to suspend him. these things are not comparable to what the refs did in this call. they made a call. MADE UP a situation to review the call, and then reversed it. you don't make up things in a game to decide a game.

Trades 1 and trades 2 ended up being HORRIBLE. Cavs lost Kyrie and all they ended up with is Jeff Green, Nance and Hill. None of which have been exceptional. Hood and Clarkson have been useless in these playoffs. They could have traded Kyrie for a superstar, but they didn't. Isaiah Thomas was a reasonable gamble, but it turned out terribly. The Cavs knew that Thomas was injured during the trade, but made it anyway. And they went against LeBron's thoughts that they shouldn't make this trade. They also gave away Dwayne Wade for a second round pick, and they lost Jae Crowder for George Hill when Jae Crowder showed a lot of promise and an ability to play good defense. These trades, while well intended, ended up being a major blunder. The fact that the owner is patting himself on the back for them is absurd.

I wouldn't have traded Kyrie but he ended up being damaged goods. Same seriously injured knee. Crowder was garbage and a sour apple. They turned an even worse IT into Clarkson/Nance. Clarkson is better than JR because he plays hard and smart. Don't forget the biggest prize, the #8 pick. Hood was a bust, but worth the small risk. Wade was useless for them. They needed 3pt shooters. Lebron publicly lobbied for thompson and JR bloated reward contracts when the Cavs were only bidding against themselves.

There needs to be something implemented where refs face repercussions for obvious bad calls. Refs can call anything they want there needs to be something where if there’s a obvious controversial call that was obviously a bad call there needs to be a fine or something, some of these refs don’t keep the rules consistent at all. This doesn’t have to do anything with the call last night just the calls throughout the playoffs.

Maybe because the play shouldn't have happened in the first place? And it was so close that it took multiple replays to see it was actually a goaltend. But, in any case, the play shouldn't have happened because of the blown out-of-bounds call that should have been Cavs ball on the prior possession. Can't point out one blown call that benefited the Cavs but not acknowledge the blown call that benefited the Pacers on the previous possession.

The refs didn't cost Cleveland the game..they still should have and could have easily won that game. Love should NOT have fouled Curry. Hill should've made the free throw. Smith should've known the score. Cavs should've showed up in overtime. All of these things were completely in their control and they repeatedly dropped the ball on closing the game out. Warriors capitalized on all of these mistakes, that is why they won. Not to mention how many mistakes the Cavs made before that point like letting Curry get a wide open 3 to end the half.

JayAtLeastTried- no ur not u can only review a call like this if the refs think there is doubt that he was in/out of the restricted area then you can determine if he was in legal guarding position and change the call. The problem here lies with the ref’s ability to replay and change a judgement call based off a trigger that is based on whether or not the player was inside the restricted area.

NBA officials have been able to review block or charge foul calls in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter or during overtime since the 2012-13 season. According to the official NBA rulebook, the call is deemed a block if the defender is: a) Not in a legal guarding position, or b) in a legal guarding position, but inside the restricted area. The call is only deemed a charge if “the defender was in a legal guarding position and outside the restricted area.” James was not in the restricted area, but you can see his body moving while Durant goes up for his shot. Therefore, the officials changed the call.
