Funny thing is I discovered Nick because I was a huge Luka fan back in the mid 2010s when he was on Real Madrid and i found Nick was like the first person in mainstream American media who talked about Luka, and since day 1 referred to him as a generational prospect back when Luka was 16-17. It’s just “Day to Davis” but yeah. It’s rough man, as a Laker fan seeing AD every night he was doing the best he could but just could not stop himself from getting hurt. The last two years btw he played in like 90%+ of the games so he’s conquered his injury woes for me. Mavs shouldn’t be worried about injury, it’s just a fact that he’s 31 and Luka is 25 which is rough. But the mavs are contenders now w ad they could go to the finals if the players jell cuz it’s an amazing mix and a scary playoff matchup.

Hey Nick, kc kid living in dallas now, all the buzz around dallas is the luka trade is centered around the Adelson family’s lobbying efforts to legalize gambling in Texas. They made no headway this legislative session and will not have another shot for 2 years. Word in the mavs building is they want to use the threat of the mavs relocating to vegas as their last bargaining chip to get their casino/new mavs arena approved in dallas and can’t have a contending mavs team with a top 5 player to make that realistic.

People don’t understand basketball if you say Bron nd Luka won’t work. Playoff basketball comes down to half court offense. How you gonna scout a pick&roll? Bron can play screener, high man or low on the weak side. You can’t double Luka no more. They both can play elbow low post. JJ is gonna have a field day drawing plays up. They just need a lob threat. They get Claxton or even Capella from ATL. They might be in the final this year.

I think LeBron and Luka will be able to play together just given that both of them have high levels of basketball IQ. Both players are driven to win, and are willing to sacrifice their own individual stats to do so. And both are prolific scorers and passers. I can only imagine a pick and roll with LeBron and Luka could be unstoppable. You would basically have to have two elite defenders guarding each of them and switch on every pick and roll. But then again, there is nobody in the league who can guard either one of them, one on one.

I would like to offer an argument for Luka’s ceiling, rather than floor, is 4th best player. Giannis is a top defender, and Shai is looking like he could even get a defensive team at one point, and they’re both on Luka’s level offensively. Jokic is also on Luka’s level offensively, and is the third best defender of this group. Luka’s offensive talent isn’t so much better than any of these guys’ to make up for the clear defensive deficiency.
