FORSÅ is absolutely best lamp ever. I had mine for 10? years now and it was bought second-hand. I am 22 btw, so it survived almost half of my life, including my teen clumsiness, several moves from one apartment to another, ragequitting and so so many crafty times when I accidentally pushed it over edge or it got hit by various objects or my clumsy moves. That fcking lamp still works like wonder. I love it and at this point I think it is my very best friend.

Regarding hangers - the wooden ones look nice and I had them for years, but they take up so much space. I've switched to flocked hangers now, and it's surprising how much more space there is in the wardrobe after removing the wooden ones. Flocked hangers hold on to your clothes better so they don't slip and get misshapen, and take up way less space - definitely the best option IMO.
@BellePullman
@BellePullman Жыл бұрын
it does depend what clothes you're hanging of course - but the wooden hangers do take up more space on the rail, but they're providing that space for the clothes hanging on them. Ohh to have as much hanging space as Ikea thinks you have!

The wood hangers with the silicone ribbing are the best of both worlds but honestly its drives me nuts having mismatched hangers so i go for what i can always find, the black flocked hangers.
@dianekelly6764

The flocking gets on the clothes. The directions on the box say to brush off the fuzz or wash the garment. Brushing doesn't work, and I want to wear, not wash, the garment. I lived with flocked hangers for 6 months. I want to get the silicone-coated thin hangers.

Ooh yikes I hate that velvet material. The friction and feeling when the clothing scrapes along the velvet makes me cringe, like how most people feel with nails on a chalkboard. Could be a me issue, I just hate the sound/sensation. Silicone like others suggested seems like a better option.

We purchased the larger size Applaryd sofa because we have no guest room. Tried many sofa beds versions - hated them all. Too much prep time involved, and not enough comfort. The Applayrd seats have innerspring coils which provide good sitting and sleeping support. The width of the seat when the back cushions are removed is just about that of a twin mattress. The longer length suits just about any person's height. To protect the the velvet upholstery, and serve as a sheet covered sleeping surface, I purchased a twin size memory foam mattress topper, and an Ikea cotton sateen duvet in the matching red shade. The topper is a tad wider than the seat, but the slight overhang actually increases the feel of the width. Wash the duvet between guests, and keep on the topper which is easily rolled up into our rectangular ottoman. So easy to take off the back cushions, pull out the topper and lay atop the seat, add a pillow and a duvet covered comforter and voila, a very comfortable bed with good support - feels just like my Tempur-Pedic mattress - and almost no effort is involved. I think this is a fabulous investment for a single person living in a one room studio situation - sofa by day, bed by night. This sofa is really fabulous looking and easy to lounge on. Best sofa I have ever purchased!

Ikea is one of those places where you go in with a short list and end up buying far more! Their 'rooms' give you ideas as well. As a result, I once bought some wall mounted rails and cushions (with tabs) which you suspend from said rails. This gives comfortable back support for dining guests stuck on the bench by the wall. I've just moved to France and was stunned at how differently the "rooms" are styled here. In the US, they sell the "dream". The vision we would like to have. In France, where people have less discretionary income and are more practical, they like to envision how things would look in reality! So, fridge covered with magnets, toys and clutter in the living room, etc. It's taking me a while since I like seeing the inspirational ideal. But then, the French frown on credit card debt and living within one's means. Another foreign concept!

Nick! Love that you include and find value in Ikea products despite the old reputation that comes with us all ending up having the “same stuff.” I think you can absolutely utilize Ikea products and still curate a unique home that tells “your story, your personal style.” So thank you!! 😊🙏 One thing I’d love to see is a video on how ‘pet-friendly’ certain products are. 😻🐶 I have 2 amazing, hilarious, *energetic* cats… 🥰 that also end up destroying my couches and chairs despite providing them with multiple cat trees and dedicated scratchers. 🙄 It just is what it is. 🫤 I’ve learned over the years that the finer-woven the fabric, the less damage is done from scratching… and also, I’ve learned that cat hair on furniture goes almost undetected if you simply match your pet’s coat to your decor. Which is why *all* of my furniture is grey/white. 😸😂 But I love colour, I love texture! If you could do a video on durable, scratch-resistant materials that aren’t “Crazy Cat Lady” leopard print, I would be in heaven! 😅😊🙏

It has a narrow footprint, so you can fit it in anywhere. I have one as a bedside table, one in my office, and one on the dining room sideboard. The shade is white pleated fabric, and I tea-stained mine by just blotting with a wet teabag. Also, I usually dash through the lighting section...now I wish I had stopped to look around, thank you for the recommendations.

my favorite idea memory was getting incredibly lost/turned around and having to ask how to get out. now I know all the hidden shortcuts as well as how to walk in lower level without having to go up escalator first 😅 love this store if I have a couple hours to spare browsing! I never ever leave empty handed❤

The USA / Canada IKEA might stock some slightly different products but my personal favourite now is a metal cart called Râskog. It has three units for storage, is super easy to assemble, it's narrow enough to fit everywhere. It can serve as extra in the kitchen, at the dinning table, at the work station, in the bathroom etc. Super versatile and with that slight curve looks good both in modern as well as traditional interiors.

My partner and I have owned the Applaryd for nearly a year now and still love it. We get compliments on it when guests come over (a friend recently said “that’s from IKEA?!”) and the price point is perfect. We needed a couch upgrade for our new condo that we were moving into, and it was either spend thousands of dollars on an EQ3 couch we couldn’t agree on (we liked different styles) and then wait weeks and weeks for it, or get a much more affordable couch within days of ordering it. The first time we spotted it in IKEA we were both smitten, and it’s still so comfortable today. The only slight downside is that since the seat cushions don’t detach (kind of weird), there has been some rippling of fabric on top as the seat foam has relaxed. But I don’t really mind it!

I was in Ikea this past weekend for the first time in about 20 years, and although I love your videos on their products, I found it totally overwhelming...definitely retail sensory overload. I wish I could have taken more time to really look at different things...maybe another time, though I found what I wanted and it was perfect.

I wonder why the public has such a problem with veneered products. I was a kitchen designer and a veneered slab door was preferable to a solid wood slab door because, depending on the wood, you avoided the door warping when the temperature changed, requiring the need for an ugly baton behind the door to stabilize the wood. Why would the wood have to be solid for the bottom of the Ombonad tray? It's beautiful!

6:04 It was good, only it's spelled "fjäll", which means the vowel sounds more like an "eh", as the Norwegian spelling "fjell" better shows.

IKEA is my favourite place to afternoon when I am a little bored and looking for something to do. Who doesn't love wandering around a lot of small rooms gaining decoration ideas? Stopping for some refreshment just to do it all again downstairs. Greetings Nick from Perth Australia.

We just moved out of the Vancouver Lower Mainland to PG and unfortunately they don’t have an IKEA. It’s the only store that I miss since moving here and it costs “Way to Much” for delivery. The closest IKEA is now an 8 hour drive and this makes me sad 😞. Let’s get an IKEA in Prince George! 😊

The thing with chrome and nikel is that they look good when they are in style but other metals just look good when they are in style and when they are not. Also crome ages poorly.

Great vid ,I own nothing from Ikea but I did like several of your picks could happily live with most of them ,I do love my puffy office chair though .Old time tip for plumping feather cushions and pillows ..grasp two corners and drop them on the floor ,this is faster and more effective than fluffing .I really don't get the rabbit ear ,karate chop thing .

The feather-proof inner liners can be very expensive. You really need them -- otherwise, you will have feathers poking through your cushion covers. Sharp, uncomfortable, and messy. Until I got the inner liners, my dog would have feathers stuck to his coat -- the incredible canine-duck.

So as far as office chairs go, nothing in Ikea is really that good if you're gonna be sitting for 8 hours. No "chic" office chair really is. However is the office game changer is an adjustable desk. Standing for 15-30 minutes every two hours does wonders for your back and joints. Ikea has those too, and theyre pretty decent.

When we moved and needed bureaus in a hurry, we ran to IKEA and bought the dark Hemnes in two different styles. I keep swearing we’re going to upgrade to beautiful and expensive bureaus, but after years of using these stupid bureaus, and not having any issues because they work perfectly and simply never wear out or break down - we’re kind of stuck with them! I kind of wish IKEA had planned some functional, stylish or structural obsolescence into these #%^*+ bureaus!

When you mentioned about the pillows sold without covers ... Do an episode on fabric materials for pillows, curtains, quilts, and so on to buy value (including sources) and make. I'm sure you have a sewing machine around there and related skills. Do a series of making/DIY projects. Curtains have huge markup, even considering buying cloth most common places where the cheapest raw denim is still more expensive than buying finished jeans from a retailer.

The Applaryd sofa is gorgeous but I wonder if you can switch the legs out for wooden ones? I love furniture that's up on legs (so easy to clean under without having to move it around, & they also make your room look more spacious), but I have learned the hard way that metal legs are not for me. I'm a klutz, and metal legs are not kind to toes.

Watching this while literally sitting in that Ekeneset armchair that got the silver (number 2) on Nick's list. Can confirm: in addition to being a timeless elegant design and a very solid high-quality piece, it is also very comfy. I use it as my work chair and sit on it for 12 hours straight. My backache actually went away when I swapped my old chair for it!
