Something to keep in mind, HDZ didn’t work with ELRS and Betaflight devs. Since they used ELRS SPI and a F411, this board is not officially supported by Betaflight and ELRS, and they used an already existing target in Betaflight. Using SPI means that you’ll be stuck with ELRS 3.x, which is now 2 years old

Something that really helped me to do better indoors is an adjustment to the rates. Go for more center sensitivity, and lower your super rate a bit. The increased control gave me a huge bump in confidence and I was able to get far closer to obstacles.

What is the budget. Beware we can get some fpv products for less expensive, but when we buy the cheapest they generally don't last and don't have any support or a user base that we can confirm with. Also Its best to start a separate comment rather than a thread of a different comment.

yes, the motors props are the same. The retail race version should have the peek screws and the freestyle metal.

I no longer pickup my leaves, I will use a blower to get the leaves around the house, but I set my mower deck on "mulch" which just shuts the chute off, when i had a bagger I would bag them and compost them, but yeah back to my point, if you just mow over the leaves several times it chops them up small enough that they end up putting their energy back into the ground, makes it so you don't have to feed your lawn with chemicals, and makes it 100x easier than picking them up and bagging them. And if you do, its well worth making a little compost bin and throwing food scraps and a little dirt on them mix them up and when I used to bag my grass too (I have 2 acres) and had a commercial mower with a bagger, I would fill my compost bin and it would convert itself into compost almost as fast as I could fill it up. I use that on the potatoes and flowers, and peppers, just not on tomatoes because of blight / mold etc.

The camera on the freestyle is outstanding. Right now it looks like it’s all about whoops, if it could on something like the rocket race I would be interested more. I have a dog that panics sometimes if I fly whoops inside, so I fly outside year round. But I really like the system of the HDZero. Great review and great flying.

Bought the betafpv air65 and the canopy broke after a few day causing the antenna to come loose. 1 minute unplugged caused it to fry. I can only get a few feet before I get static. Happened a lot to the hdzero vtxs

I started with the vrx, with hdmi input it does add latency over not using hdmi inputs. To my its a bit like going from analog to walksnail or dji, the additional latency is there, but within a flight or two I adjusted.

These HDZ 5in1 is making me really consider going HDZ, I went all in on DJI FPV V1 and so... Yeah I have immersion RC Module and adapter into the Composite 3.5mm plug on the Goggles and a 1.3 ghz receiver that matek used to make. So I like the DJI V1 because its versatile in that way, but.... I don't know, Its hard to spend more money at this point on VRX and DJI v1 has no HDMI input, I do have a little box that converts HDMI to Composite but I am sure it adds some latency. Maybe I am wrong. I don't know on the other hand Flying my Meteor with the Betafpv 5.8ghz into the immersion RC is so clear and good, I get a little break up on 25mw when I am near my wifi router, but bump it up to 200mw and it goes away. I wonder if anyone else has made the leap and bought HDZ goggles and regret it, the quality doesn't seem that much better really, especially considering I only fly whoops indoors in the winter because its cold cold in the winter here.

Got the race hd version in the mail today…it flies very nicely out of the box. I can tell it’s heavier than my air65, but it is night and day better than my old mobula6 hdzero v3 that is almost 26g. Only issue I have is that the camera wires are running under the canopy and tilting the camera sideways to the point that only one prop guard is in view. Hopefully I can bend it or shim the other side and level it out.

Update: got the freestyle version today. Unless I’m concerned with lap times, this is the whoop I’m going to fly. The image quality is soooo good compared to analog. My only slight knocks are the non adjustable camera angle, and the antenna looks like it could get stuck in the props. Looks like there is a solution for the antenna on their website if you have a 3d printer…that’s something that should probably be included in the box for $200.

Super Video. Well flown, as always. One thing about the outdoor flights, and extremely evident at the end/crash (at 13:46 specific example) is the white out - wash out of color in the sky in the brighter area of the sky. The Sun washes out a very large area, turning it white with overexposure. While the other colors look intense during the flight, this back are washout does distract. This is a photographic thing, related to exposure and ASA setting(or sensitivety of photo chip). Is this common on HD cameras? Have not noticed as bad exposure flare before. Any suggestion?

I've been testing the last few weeks and it is legit. I just wanna throw it on a 75 frame with 0802 25000kv motors, though. That will be sweet. My main gripe with the race edition is the plastic screws. I stripped one by accident and it was a pain to remove.

Yes, the lawnmower is primarily what I use. It's the stopping and emptying the bag so frequently. We used to have a riding mower with two bags. From memory I get 10-15 55gal bags full of leaves weekly when they start to drop. Its not only our trees but all the surrounding trees.

Thanks Nick, great video as always. That voltage drop was crazy! I usually run my 1s batteries down to 3.2 and then come in for a landing, but from experience I know I can run them down to 3 or 2.9 before the voltage starts dropping off rapidly, although nowhere close to that speed! Is that what happens with digital rigs? I'm running analogue for reference.

Nice, but for goggles i have DJI V2, DJI 2, Walknsmail Avatar, Fatshark HDO2, looking at avatar x and HdZero, at some point i have to limit or mark what whoop gos with what goggles and what controller. I am one of those who want all the new products, WEAK starting to think its just not worth it, think in about moving to just DJI controller 2 AND Randio master zero. So frustration some OF us new guys have, been in FPV for less than a year, been working with DJI only. BUT REALLY LIKING HDZERO maybe sale all the other analog goggles ya more than yo all need, anyone else feeling like me?

@JosephCesario-o1s for 1s im running rcinpower 1202.5 11500kv. I tried the newbeedrone flow motors with same specs and they performed ok but motor shafts BENT when you looked at them wrong. Keep in mind if you wanna use the typical newbeedrone beebrain v2 canopy, you can fit the eco cam perfectly (I add some glue to keep it from moving) the lux cam won't fit that canopy and it's the most durable option imo. Ive put maybe 20 hours on this drone and no problems so far. Amp meter reads 24 amps at full throttle so it's right on the edge. You preferably need a 12a board or 6amp cont. At least. If you're not worried about it eventually dying some day, I'd go up to 2s with the eco board but so far so good. An analog board that's perfect for this 1s setup is the gep taker f411 12a 1-2s aio. It has blackbox too. Theres very few 1s aios with 12a escs plus a blackbox. Good luck! Edit: also get the babytooth frame 1.5 - 2mm the frame with replaceable arms has lots of resonance issues from my experience and it's just more work that isn't necessary. You'll also need a battery pad. I use alien double sided tape, its too sticky so you have to de-stick the battery side of it. I usually just stick it to my pants and hands to make it not fuse to the battery 😂

The fatshark scout hd goggles, but I don't think those are on the market anymore. Also the Emax transporter 2 HD goggles are hdzero goggles. Might be able to find the scout hd second hand. the scout HDs came out back with hdzero was called sharkbyte and then fatshark and hdzero relationship dissolved, but the last I read HDzero still supports the scout hd goggles....but there doesn't seem to be a manual or firmware specific to the goggles.

The battery tray only holds up to a GNB 380mah battery, but the tinywhoop, webleedfpv, tattu, aerial outlaws 1s 300mah is a better battery with longer flight times.

I don't think I fully understand the question. One major difference is the nano3 uses the mipi connection which has a tendency to pull away from the vtx and/or camera. It also gets damaged more easily and isn't really available to purchase spares of. Vs the traditional wires and solder connection of the lux.

We can use it on a 75mm, but getting under 20 grams will take some ingenuity. I don't know that I have seen a 75mm under 20 grams.

There is a fairly significant image quality difference between walksnail and hdzero. Although less now with the new hdzero lux camera. For tinywhoop I suggest hdzero.

I think the 4 wires are functioning like usb 🤔 if it really was composite video i dont think that kind of picture quality is possible but who knows. Maybe they have cracked the code 😂

one wire is voltage the other is ground, that leaves two potential wires to handle the video side.

I wish it didn’t seem like EVERYTHING new was Elrs….or at least not ONLY Elrs. I get it’s free to use and everyone can use it but it’s still new so there are soooo many pilots still using their current systems, I can’t really afford a new drone along with a remote and the headache of learning a new protocol all at the same time lol.

I don't suspect the dominance of ELRS is going to change. Especially in micros ELRS has dominated and now most micros come with ELRS or crossfire, and thats its.

@@NickBurnsFPV I would have loved this in crossfire as I feel I only switched to it recently with the Tango2 Pro including many receivers. I am jealous of what I see in comparison recently, the only crossfire AiO is NBD and I didn’t bother getting one because I have two Mob7…I’m stuck in the past lol even PH2. Oh well there should be some awesome stuff out when I finally make the full switch.
