Guys, this a YT movie. It was pretty intense to 10 to 13 year olds. The effects are better than the Disney Percy that is on now. Grover and the Centaurus are WAY better than what the attempted in Harry Potter!!!

In terms of inaccuracies there’s too many to count but I’ll still try: 1) percy, Grover, and Annabeth are all supposed to be 12. 2) all children of Athena are supposed to be honey blonde with grey eyes, like Athena herself. 3) yancy academy was a boarding school, so percy shouldn’t go home until the school year is over. 4) Mrs. dodds is meant to be an old lady with a demon hags body. 5) Chiron should be the only centaur at camp, as the rest of the centaurs are wild and like to party. 6) they completely skipped over clarisse, who’s Percy’s bully in the first book. 7) demigods cannot use technology bc it sends up a signal/flare to monsters (why, idk). 8) the quest is not to find the pearls it’s simply to confront hades and return the bolt; the pearls were gifted to the trio by Poseidon via nereid in Santa Monica. 9) they completely cut out St. Louis and the chimera battle and replaced it with the hydra in Tennessee, which makes no sense at all bc the hydra is supposed to come in in book 2. 10) they cut out the hellhound scene at camp which is what alerts Chiron and the campers that there’s someone at camp trying to hurt percy. 11) percy isn’t supposed to get his sword to keep until right before he leaves for his quest. 12) percy is supposed to give the flying shoes to Grover bc Zeus swore to kill percy if he dared trespass on zeuses territory (air). 13) the entrance to the underworld is meant to be a recording studio, not the Hollywood sign, and they cut out charons personality. 14) they cut out all of the side quests along the way, like ares’s mission for them in Denver, crustys water bed palace, and their pit stop in Santa Monica. 15) hades in mythology did kidnap Persephone and trick her into eating the pomegranates, which means she must live in the underworld. However, Persephone is not prisoner and visits earth in the spring/summer. Her visits cause the seasons, and she does not cheat on hades. She actually does love him, and he adores her. 16) the underworld is supposed to represent an airport lmfao I’m starting to lose track but in summary, they essentially changed the plot and so many aspects of the book that the movie is nothing at all like it. Additionally, a lot of the details they ignored or a changed are vital to the series as a whole and messing that up messes up the entire premise of the series (eg starting them at age 16 in book 1 messes up the whole timeline and prophecy which is supposed to culminate in book 5; centaurs being wild and untamed party animals is a vital detail that is important in future books but that idea is ruined now, etc). The movie would be great as a stand-alone movie not based on the books, but as far as “book based” movies go, this one has got to be the worst of the worst, and don’t EVEN get me started on the sequel

Seems like Nick & Cory said they will stick together no matter what happens. Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief is a testament to their oath of keeping their mouths shut as much as possible and letting themselves take a spa while watching everything unfold onscreen.

i think that outside of the movie just not being great, the main problem people have with it is that it's just a bad adaptation. About half of the movie never happened in the books. There was no hydra, no bolt in a shield, no big fight at the end, there was no map, they just got the pearls as a gift. And there's also the issue of completely changing/erasing characters' personalities, but at this point i don't even care

This first movie is not so bad, the second one is where it gets really bad. They tried to use the other 4 books in one movie and got pretty bad and weird. The series got right more stuff but made some others bad, although the paecing there looks better. I'd recommend checking it out if you want. ❤

@@shadowdweller5094 its ok, we have different opinions. I revisited the movies with some reactors and now with adult eyes I think is worse then when i first watch it as a teen. This one is not so wrong now as i thought before. Besides cutting some important scenes, this follows pretty much the first book, with changes of course but still. They tried to fix some complaints In the second but at that point it was just confusing for new viewers. But its fine. I don't hate any of them.
