Saw this movie at the premiere in Telluride. It is a fantastic film. Very experimental and stays with you long after the credits roll. Can't wait for everyone else to see it

@@Estrellitawilliams Yes. From its opening in 1900, the Marianna site was an open campus of about 1400 acres without any perimeter fencing. The site was originally divided into two sub-campuses, South Side or "Number 1", for white students, and North Side, or "Number 2", for "colored" students. The sections were segregated until 1966. Wikipedia has lots more. Marianna is only about an hour from me. I had not heard of this (but others yes).

Saw this at my school’s film festival. Thought about it for a while. It may be the most visually creative film I have ever seen and truthfully the content will stick with me for the rest of my life. RaMell Ross spoke with us after the viewing and is such a passionate person with a kind heart. I highly recommend this film.

I saw this movie at Telluride Film Festival. It was a beautiful movie. Great cinematography and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor was a deadpan perfection as a grandmother. What a bravura performance!

@@vince__2k I might start with his most recent film, Vortex, considering that it's way more tender than Irreversible. If you enjoy the language of Nickel Boys, you might enjoy Enter The Void, since it's probably the best use of POV.

@@Saltpeanutss Nah, it's not Malickian at all. He has never used POV, he generally uses wide angle lenses, he isn't a fan of 4:3 aspect ratio, the acting in his films is far more improvisational, he generally uses choral music, the tone is different, etc. Enter The Void is obviously a darker film but it uses POV for almost the entire duration and it uses it in a very similar manner.

Haven't seen the film, but having read the book, I can say this trailer is somewhat deceptive. The story is *very* disturbing and by no means "inspirational" as this trailer might suggest. Phenomenal novel though. I couldn't recommend it highly enough and the film looks great!

Seeing that this is a film based in a time of segregation, I’m gonna pass, just because I don’t want to experience something traumatic or racist through a 1st person POV when I already deal with those issues on a daily basis… im good thanks though. Enough black trauma for me.👍🏽

I look forward to it. But it will be the storytelling, not the aesthetic that will determine if it's a masterpiece. Based on the trailer, the aesthetic is nothing but a rehash of the current Black artsy aesthetic made popular by Barry Jenkins and Arthur Jafa's disciples: Kahlil Joseph, Terence Nance, and Bradford Young.
