I remember when they played at my high school some 21/22 years ago and my art teacher knew I was a bluegrass fan and let me set up an easel in the auditorium while the band set up and did sound check. I got to meet them all by myself and have been a huge fan ever since.

I saw them in 2005 at a small venue in Ohio. The previous year, they sold out major arenas, but we were fortunate enough to get 2nd row center. We had a very small outdoor crowd, and NC was DEFINITELY all about the music, no fluff or pomp. Oh yeah, the seats were for $10 donations going to the local arts council. Best time EVER!

I don't know why. But I am glad there is a place in this world for both Nickel Creek and Lady Gaga, I love both. I play bluegrass in a group and I couldn't care less about being popular. This kind of music isn't about being flash. Anyway, Nickel Creek disbanded. That's a bummer for all of us.

I just feel the need to point out that, while I'm not personally a fan of the Jonas Brothers, they DO in fact write most of their own songs. Again, doesn't mean I actually like them, but you do have to give them props for at least being legitimate. And, yes, Nickel Creek music is FAR superior! :)

Most music you hear comes from bands who largely imitate others. These 4 (and Scott is a major part of their sound) are the definition of innovatiors. Their sound was originated by them, proving occasionally a new age hippie raising can work.

They are Great!! Glad to see they are still together. Except for listening to their past cds, i had kinda written them off, according to rumors but, you know how rumors are. Oh yeah, lets not forget who put them on the map in the beginning and produced their first 2 albums, my girl, Alison Krauss. The group was talented anyway but, im sure her many years in the industry and her ear and demand for perfection was a key. Plus, in the industry, her name, as producer, couldnt have hurt, lol.

They're all doing their own solo things. I think mostly though because Chris (who admittedly is the most talented of the group) has been super busy with a handful of side projects. And yes, I too would pay an exorbitant amount of money to see them live again. They were easily one of the best live bands I've ever heard.

I agree erinae009. I question myself as to Gaga's popularity and find it sad seeing demeaning remarks on the web about Nicklecreek who write their own music, while the media and many people praise pop groups, like the Jonas Brothers, who don't (and perhaps cant) write one note of music or lyrics. On one good note, usually these company manufactured pop stars disappear as fast as they come up.

@erinrae009 My thoughts exactly. Songs with lyrics like "Boom boom pow them chickens jacking my style" are chart-toppers and yet Nickel Creek remains shrouded in obscurity. Personally, I think the chair we're high-fiving them in the face with should be upgraded to a bench. Or perhaps a bleacher...

I totally agree with you. But the reason they were never big is, unfortunately, very simple. 1.) It's hard for country musicians (which Nickel Creek were) to crack into the main music scene. 2.) Nickel Creek is actually good, deep, thoughtful music. They're songs written for people who they know will love their music. Lady Gaga wrote music to make money and be famous.
