For a long time I felt alone. Lots in life went wrong, a divorce, medical issues which led me to being discharged from the Army, family deaths, it all happened it seemed at once. I really had given up, I went through the motions of everyday life, and I just said one day ill just not show up to work and eventually they will find me. It really had gotten to that point. Then one day I met a nurse, who for some reason wanted to get to know me. I tried to push her away but she never gave up and I finally agreed to a date. I fell in love that night, been about 10 years now we have been married. She saved my life and gave me a reason to live. There is someone out there for us all, sometimes even when you give up that person finds you.

For everyone who hates Nickelback. Some words of "wisdom" I guess you could say. You know, so what if most of their songs sound the same, same guitar riff styles, drums, even the voice. It doesn't matter, the reason so many people actually like Nickelback is because nearly all of their songs have a deep meaning, and that's what many people focus on which is the lyrics because that is what matters. Let me mention one more time about nearly all of the songs sounding the "same", I say again, so what? It's their style and it works. It's what made them successful and unlike how many bands fail because they change to a different style all of a sudden like Taylor Swift for example changing from Country to Hip Hop or Pop or whatever, we still don't know the results of how that will go for her in the future but so far in my opinion, Taylor has been a big hit. Why fix what isn't broken? I know you're not asking me but I'm going to tell you anyways. Just like how you hate Nickelback so much, you don't have to listen to it. And you certainly don't have to be here reading this, but you are. So clearly the problem here in this picture, is you, so buzz off and find something more productive to do with your time.

I will admit that the songs that i do like, i like a lot. 'Gotta be somebody' and 'If Today was your last day' are two of my favourite songs.

About the voice, it's a very well known fact that if they had a good female vocalist singing I bet that people such as yourself would like them "better" if anything to a slightly increased degree.A lot of people just simply do not like male vocals because as men reach puberty their voices range are declined significantly and grow deeper, where-as women don't face that kind of problem, all that any woman needs is to learn how to sing without screaming like a banshee. Chad's voice would be better too if he learned to control his voice, it sounds the same in almost every song performed. But he realizes this, he knows this, and this is why he doesn't try to change the pitch in his voice to sound like something different. He knows he doesn't have a "pretty-boy" voice like Aaron Carter or anybody from the Backstreet Boys, he would be committing career suicide if he tried doing that. So here's the thing, remember the vocalist from Slipknot? Cory did all of that with his voice for so long that he had to stop and slow it down, otherwise his career would have stopped. All of that screaming is killing his voice, Chad is different though, he isn't pushing it and even has a back-up vocalist to help him sing, their career is likely to last far longer. Even Aerosmith, hell even Michael Jackson or Elvis, all of them, the greats, none of them tried going outside of that nor did they try their luck, they all had great hits. I believe that Nickelback will be recognized as one of the "greats" as well. But sure, it wouldn't hurt if they'd add a female vocalist, but if they did that then I'm sure you can imagine how dramatic the focus will shift for the band, if anything I think Avril would be good for that spot but she has her own thing too. I'd love to hear more collabs though.

It shouldn't matter. It's unfair. When defending him and stating that liking Nickelback is just his choice, then I was passive aggressively attacked within my peers. When it comes to music, we shouldn't be judged. but we are regardless. Heck, I know there's other music that have, not so good morals, and I know I tend myself to judge people who like songs that focus on drugs, sex and objectification. I'm tired of this. I already am reminded of that in life. Sometimes we need music like Nickelback, to remind us to keep pushing. It's already really hard to live. This one is timeless and holds a lot of meaning for me. When I got divorced, this song helped me get through a lot of hard moments and more than a bit of cynicism. I was all set to be a single parent to my kids, and actually would have been ok being single for the rest of my days had I not run into the one I should have married decades ago. Happily ever after doesn’t always happen the first time, but I am a firm believer in second chances.

There is almost nothing as emotionally painful as loneliness. Hence why we yearn to connect so much through technology. We don't want to be alone. I remember this song spoke to me throughout college. Being a black woman many people assumed and prejudged based on television stereotypes and other things that I have no control over. And I noticed the same happened to most other black girls on my campus. People would bypass us. While other girls got asked out we were ignored. It was very tough. 21st century America and yet so much segregation. While other girls found their husbands by senior year we were focusing extra hard on our books because we know we had to do twice as much to get noticed even half as much. We only had our own backs. And I suspect the same goes on still. It crosses color, creed and gender but loneliness can be debilitating. People don't realize how social exile really makes others feel. There is a reason mammals stare at each other or smile at each other etc. Even the most introverted type wants a friend. Never underestimate the power of a smile and a hello. Show someone you care. Many commit suicide because of rampant loneliness. People just don't realize that it hurts after a while. Be a friend.
