The Nickelodeon higher ups have really gone too far this time. Making a decision about a piece of art right after it's creator has passed, just to milk even more money out of an already spread thin cash cow is such a low and filthy move.

About 6 months before spongebob aired i had a similar undersea idea that came to me while riding the ferry from Spokane to Seattle & in my head i thought. I wonder what all the sea creatures are doing all day underwater in my choldhood mind, and 6 nonths later spongebob WAS that idea except i was going to make my main character a whale. And its funny how nearly 20 years later that idea is fresh in my mind & Spongebob is still a cartoon that is incredibly important to me. Stephen Hillenburg was a man who made cartoons like Spongebob Squarepants because he cared about his work, he put passion and creativity in his creation and hard work. Once he left Nickelodeon decided to keep the show even though he wanted to end it after the first movie and Nickelodeon decided to milk and squeeze the life out of the Spongebob franchise, once he died they decided to do anything they could do now that he died. Even Hillenburg did not like and was scared of how popular Spongebob is and what it has become. It seemed like he hated what his creation had become. Nickelodeon did this to themselves. They refused to take chances on new shows and/or canceled them immediately if they didn't perform as well as Spongebob. They treated creators like crap. They could not see past Spongebob's success and milked it to death. And now that's all they have left. I doubt Nickelodeon will still be around in 10 years and, frankly, they don't deserve to be. Hillenburg wanted to end the series after the movie so that it wouldn't jump the shark. Nick said no and kept milking it. They wouldn't let the series die gracefully. Instead, Nick is hellbent on taking Spongebob with them to the grave.

Plus, Nick has had a terrible track record when it comes to their spin-offs. See Planet Sheen, Sam and Cat, and Angelica & Susie's Pre-School Daze if you want proof of that. Even the two good ones, All Grown Up! and The Legend of Korra, are usually thought up as not being as good as Rugrats and Avatar: The Last Airbender, respectively. I also have confidence that Kamp Koral will fail BIG TIME. Because of this awful track record (not to mention that Kamp Koral was most likely made against Steven Hillenburg's wishes), I've been reluctant to watch The Casagrandes past its first 11-minute episode, even though I want to.

Every spinoff show with younger versions of characters are almost always an atrocity.. Of all the things you could do with a spin-off, let alone for SpongeBob, Nickelodeon choosing to go this route is unfathomable. But to the people upset by for this for the franchise, the show has contemporarily been a heaping pile of garbage anyways so it's not exactly damaging the reputation of the franchise anymore than what's ready been done. And maybe it would work out. Who knows. But with the way Nickelodeon seems to run things... Nickelodeon will inevitably fail to get with the times and fail in the end. Anyone remember when in the 2010s Nickelodeon was SO BAD that they would air nonstop reruns of spongebob? I Guess they couldn’t think of any other good show on at the time so they would just air nonstop spongebob episodes to cover it up.

As someone who's apart of the Thomas the Tank Engine community, the same thing is happening over there. The show has become a 2D animated cartoon, which is exactly what the creator of the franchise, Reverend Wilbert Awdry was against. The owners of the franchise, Mattel, have been disrespectful of Awdry's vision and the franchise's legacy for the past few years.

We all hate it. In the first episode, though, Carly said something that really acts like Thoms is the audience, saying, "You're still number one to me." I feel like this is a metaphor to the audience. That although this is not the thomas we know, Thomas will always be #1 in our hearts. I think that SOMEONE on the Thomas team still knows of the magic that the show once had.

@@CelestinaakaClonaClox9999 You are probably right. I used to hope it wasn't true, but is now impossible to think like that. Mattel truly doesn't care. but the fans do, and we will keep TTTE alive. Hopefully, a good company will swoop up TTTE and revise the series, cancelling the old series and startign a completely new one, that is good in many ways (uses models, (although not the originals because Drayton Manor has them beyond repair, I would be happy to make them for the series), respects the show's legacy, adapts the hwole railway series, returns Boco, Stepney and Duke and others in more original stories other than ones that they are a plot part of (Stories they are featured in the Railway Series and TTTE series), etc.). I pray for it.

I know this is an old comment but this isn’t true. The older episodes are available on DVD and CBS All Access, which gives kids the ability to watch old Spongebob episodes. Especially since many families no longer have cable TV, more kids watch Netflix or steaming services over TV.
