Thomas Punt Honesty. I feel like the Krusty Krab is meant to be a metaphor for Nickelodeon, with Spongebob and Squidward representing the cartoons that they air and the people that work on it while Mr. Krabs represents the people behind the network who are pulling the strings. Spongebob represents the people who don’t care that they have no free will and will always follow orders no matter what, while Squidward represents the people who are pissed about their lack of a free will when it comes to creations and only stay with them in order to keep their jobs. Then there’s Mr. Krabs, who is a monster who is in a league of his own. He abuses his employees and takes advantage of them any way he can and manipulated them and their properties giving them no free will of their own and only cares about money and will abuse the people close to them in order to get what they want. You see, Mr. Krabs is a lot like Glen Quagmire and Herbert the Pervert from Family Guy, as in they have a negative trait that defines their whole character. However, they represent how real people are and can be, just exaggerated for comedic purposes. However, unlike those two, who can be seen as “cute” and “funny” in their ways. Mr. Krabs is not like that. He is truly not only the worst character on Spongebob, but one of the worst characters in all of fiction, up there with Brian Griffin and APC Ren Howick. Now I know that in the pre-movie era some people will defend him for things like “Suds,” but even then there are still episodes like “Krabby Land” and “Jellyfish Hunter,” which show him off at his worst like in the Infamous “One Coarse Meal.” Say what you want about Patrick, but he’s like Peter Griffin. He doesn’t seem to know any better and believes he can do whatever the heck he wants with little to no consequences, because there is little to no consequences for anything that he does. Mr. Krabs is a terrible character and an even worse person. I hate Mr. Krabs, but the worst thing about him is that there are real people just like him.

More of a botching of hillenburg's property, Nickelodeon is making an uninspired spin off of hillenburg's most famous and beloved property, even though hillenburg would love for SpongeBob to end off on a good note, now that hillenburg is deceased in fact means they have full control of the IP, which also means they have the full rights to completely mishandle and misuse the property, Nickelodeon does not need to care about the now deceased creator of said property, SpongeBob belongs to Nickelodeon, and Nickelodeon needs to make money off the expensive and time consuming work of 2D animation.

When they announced a spinoff was in the works, a fan left a comment stating they wanted a Young Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy series. It could act as a parody of popular super hero shows such as the classic Batman animated series, with the twist of Spongebob humor. It would only need to borrow Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy from the original series, and the few of their villains introduced in the show, and could then flesh out a whole new set of characters. I would watch the shit out of that. It's pretty sad that the fans usually know how to make a good show better than the showrunners.
@ruyekahatori30735 жыл бұрын
That would be interesting, since its canon there were other superheroes and they can flesh out the villains more, like expand on what Spongebob did, show them as villains but parody it so they also are human (fish? creature?) as well like going to get groceries or just out doing non-evil things

Samurai Jack and Rugrats remind us good revivals can exist. But you see, kids, there is just one thing to make a good revival. You know, it's not that hard. *_Make sure everyone comes back for it._* When you "revive" something, it means everyone returns. If there's a new showrunner, or barely any of the original people, that's called a "reboot" and you can't argue that. Even the voice actors for The Powerpuff Girls were in shambles, one of them in tears, over being replaced. It was not even a financial reason, they said they would have gladly returned to those roles, if I remember right. I love revivals when everyone, at least who are still alive, returns. It means I'm getting more content from a show I already loved, expecting it to mostly be identical and serve as a true continuation. A reboot makes me think "if you are going to change it this much, make a new show" that is always how I will think. New Teen Titans was the Teens Titans GO we all wanted, I'm sure nobody will disagree with me. That is how you could have done a good spin-off series. But, that's a different topic.

Animators don’t get as much respect because in the eyes of corporate people, they see cartoons as products and for profit (obviously). Animation, to me, has always been a free form of expression and to abuse and repress the creative minds is disgusting and discouraging to anyone who wants to pursue a career in animation. I want to be an animator, but I do not want to be owned by a company/corporation who want to deface and defecate my animated characters and cartoons. Free lancing is probably the only way I can truly express myself and there are people who do free lance work to earn money and still keep their creative masterpieces. This is why you see many animation videos on KZbin. Although the platform for animators on KZbin has been less than pleasing, it is still a platform for animators to show their stuff and not be bound by the chains of greedy corporates. I respect animators to the highest degree and for the animators who have been treated unfairly, I say they deserve better. Nickelodeon doesn’t care about their staff and neither does CN or Disney. Animation has become a “joke” where its purpose is to make money. Quantity over quality as some may say. It’s a business practice that gets repetitive and toxic quick because for animators who work at one of those studios, they don’t have a choice. Animation deserves better because, as a medium, it has opened doors to the imagination and has went beyond the boundaries of imagination if that makes any sense.

The Alolan Professor This highly reminds me of the video game industry, as it’s having similar stagnation as the animation industry. With every new game being produced by a corporation on a yearly basis with tons of microtransactions and cut content, with tons of trendchasing and pandering, it really sucks that when something gets popular, it gets corporate and it turns into a shell of its former self. Animation and video games used to have stigmas and other repression, but now that they went mainstream, they got incredibly corporate. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. I actually enjoyed Baby Looney Tunes. I also liked A Pup Named Scooby Doo. However, nowadays, de-aging characters is possibly one of the laziest things a creator can do for a spinoff. Completely ignoring Hillenburg's wish against spinoffs for Spongebob is even worse. A dirty move like this will forever taint any and all potential this show could have.

I think 2D animation can be used to potray different styles very well, check out projects like "Dante's Inferno: Animated Epic" or "Dead Space: Aftermath", where each circle of hell/character's perspective is animated in styles so different, you could think it's two separate shows. I agree that "Wreck it Ralph" benefits from it's style of animation, but in my opinion, rather than because 3D can potray different styles better, it is related more to the fact that video games are associated with detailed 3D these days.

Cobra Bubbles (to Nani): Nani...about your job... [Nani is handed a pink slip...and collapses to the sidewalk in tears] Lilo: Nani? [Stitch growls at the studio's gate] ---- Seeing no shortage of animated characters rebel against their corporate 'masters' and incite a (cartoon) worldwide revolution could provide a far more entertaining alternative to the countless (live-action) remakes being pandered, at the moment. 9_9 After all the baloney that has been piled on Life's (current) sandwich, a squirt of 'Mustard' (in the eyes of so many fools) would be more than welcome. ^_^ Here's hoping...

9:46 This sounds almost EXACTLY like what happened to the Godzilla series in the mid 60s. At the time Toho had almost full control of the filmmakers who worked for them, so when Toho wanted to make Godzilla more kid friendly, director Ishiro Honda had no choice but to do what the studio wanted and had to witness his symbol of nuclear weapons and warfare turn into a goofy humanoid mascot for kids to cheer for. Now to be clear, Honda didn’t mind having Godzilla be the hero, but he thought that it was a stupid idea to make the monsters act more like humans, doing things like dancing around and having a group therapy session. But of course he had to make a living.

If the animation industry is as bad as Mr. Enter says it is here, then Viviziepop should keep “ Hazbin Hotel” and “Helluva Boss” here on KZbin because if she presented the idea of both shows to any network that makes adult cartoons, they’ll change things haphazardly and then they’ll kick Viviziepop off of them the second she complains about it. Heres my own added thoughts: 1. clearly it's disrespecting Hillenburg's desires and it's sick that Nick decided to wait until he died to do this. 2. spongebob as a show where he isnt well defined in age meaning he can do much of anything, as the show has shown isnt gonna work being narrowed down to the same old tired cliche of summercamp. (Disney, Cartoon Network, Nick, etc have all milked any creative ideas out of it in my opinion but thats another whole thing). It's gonna just be another uncreative and lame summercamp show that is gonna try milking off the spongebob juggernaut. (meaning it's just yet Another Summercamp Show just with spongebob smacked over it). A show with a character formerly such as spongebob with it's range will not be able to hold in a such narrowed premise. But if we know enough from TTG, we know Nick will try to milk every ounce out of these spinoffs, even if EVERYONE seems to hate em, they'll likely try to flood the channel with it. (considering their animation side is kiiinda lacking lately since they keep axing everything) this has been my think piece, i would and could ramble on for ages longer but nah

And we can already see this happen. Do you know/remember Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs? Tell me if this sounds familiar: After the success of their second movie, the creators decided to make an animated TV show prequel to the series in a whole new style and keeping the two main characters still around, but not their voice actors, and making them school students and to justify them not knowing each other in the first movie, they had a memory eraser be the answer. It lasted 2 seasons with incredibly negative reviews, with people pointing out it conflicts with the movie's lore badly nor does it try anything original.
