I've been a Swiftie since I saw her on a talk show performing "Love Story" (Fearless). My daughter was born in 2013. When she was a baby, the song that would snap her from total complete meltdown to happy baby was "Shake It Off". She was 11 months old when it came out. I have a video of her somewhere dancing to the video. Anyway, FF and my now 9 year old daughter and I saw The Eras Tour in Arlington April 2nd. It was her first concert experience. And it was AMAZING.

Long Live is undoubtedly one of the most meaningful songs for Swifties and I genuinely get emotional whenever I listen to it or watch it being performed! Taylor is such a kind and authentic human and always reminds her fans of how much we mean to her and how much she loves and appreciates us. It truly makes you feel like you're a part of something special. Also if you haven't heard it yet, you should totally react to this is me trying from folklore...it makes me tear up every time :,)

She said 'promise me u'll stand by me forever' and that's what most swifties like me did & despite all of her never ending haters, look at the Kingdom we have right now. I've watched her playing in a bar when she was 14 or 15 with maybe around 70 ppl watching..& manage to talk to her..& I told her I truly love her performance & how amazing she was & promised I would buy every album she gonna put out there & she didn't even have an album back then. And to see her filling up some of the biggest stadiums in the world & playing to crowds of 90,000 ppl right now is truly an amazing journey for me. 💟💟

Little cool fun fact, Taylor always takes a moment to acknowledge the entire crew, every dancer and musician who work on her shows, she never says “I” or “me” it’s lays “we” and “us”. No matter how far she’s come it’s never a show that’s just hers, it’s always the efforts of every single person on stage and every person whose helped build it.

I have always said she HAS a wide range BUT she prefers to use her mid to lower range and I wholeheartedly believe this is because even though she could belt out the notes she wants the FANS to be able to sing (or scream) the words to her songs, regardless of if you are a great singer or not. and I can appreciate that, plus I think she feels more comfortable in that range thus making it a surprise whenever she adds the belting notes in her songs and live shows.

Rewatching this video for the millionth time and it never gets old. As I’ve seen scrolling through some of the comments, this really is a throwback to a more younger and “naive” Taylor. Some context I’ve seen sprinkled throughout: -this was a performance at her Speak Now World Tour. SN is 2010, so this would’ve been 2011ish (so pre-all the reputation stuff). -She wrote it for her band and her fans, and it’s incredibly obvious after watching the “Journey to Fearless” documentary about her. Being so young, she went on her first big tour (Fearless), it was the story of her taking risk and being strong and young and putting herself out there, the tour blew up, and she had magical times. -So many lyrics are DIRECT parallels to images shown in the documentary…”crowds in stands went wild” with the tour, reading off names and dancing the night, the end of a decade but start of an age of Taylor, the “for me and you” being so intimate that you FEEL it, “I passed the pictures” (they were on tour for over a year so at the end she made yearbooks for her band and dancers who were her family, and the pictures align with that), the whole “cynics were outraged” about critics not believing she wrote her songs…and her later writing SN as an entirely self-written album which this song is on, her and her band against all odds taking over the world, from baseball caps and ripped up jeans to crowns and ruling the world, confetti falling to the ground, then what really gets me is her and her band being like family (as mentioned in the documentary, even doing stuff like visiting zoos, going to the beach, goofing off, they were a legit family on and off the stage, they went to each others weddings, knew their families, etc…) so the whole “promise me this” with standing by her forever, or if fate steps in and they get separated, if they have kids someday and they point to the pictures (from the yearbooks), please tell them my name and the memories we did and how we overcame everything and ruled the world. This song really is about her fans, and most importantly her band, and the magic they all created. What makes it so special is that by this point she’d already been with her band for like 4-5 years (back in 2011), and you can recognize Paul (guitar) and Amos (bass) and so many players and even her backup singer quartet The Starlights in so many of her videos that you’ve reacted to for live performances, and seeing her at the Eras walking down during the song Fearless with Amos and Paul and her band that have been by her side for years through all the ups and downs, this song just HITS DIFFERENT (no pun intended). Okay that’s my history novel, hope you’re ready for a pop quiz. Next chapter, we’ll be discussing…

I never saw this live performance or the documentary before and it's so nice to get to watch it alongside a reactor. You're a new reactor to me, this is the 2nd I've watched, and I love your reaction here from slightly under a year ago. Thank you for this! I teared up at the bridge even though I know this song by heart and now this has nothing to do with your reaction but actually I think some of the captions they put for the lyrics were wrong... small things but like "Can you take a moment?" they wrote as "And you take a moment" which just annoys me, or the first line of the song at 8:15 I think it's "I said" not "I say"... if this is the official captions it just drives me bonkers. She actually has the most amazing official lyric videos ever now for her newer albums but even those got a few lyrics wrong but not as many as something like closed captions. Back to reacting to your reaction, I love how genuine and sweet your reactions are, how supportive of Taylor you are, how happy for her, it's such a sweet, comforting thing to watch a reaction from someone who can appreciate the simple wonderfulness of this song. And her performance. And how happy she looks :)

To all of you Swiftie’s here who are saying you’re 1 or 2 or 3 years younger than Taylor, especially if you had been a fan since you first heard Tim McGraw on the radio in 2006. Do you feel an EXTRA special connection to this song because…(depending on whether you’re in the US, like I am, and if you were born in 1992…like I was)…. Long Live was literally written the same month that I graduated high school. I cannot even explain how much I appreciate having this song back then. (…even though Speak Now didn’t come out until I had already graduated and headed off to college), Long Live has always perfectly captured the heartwarming yet deeply painful sense of pride and gratitude I felt during my high school graduation. Class of 2010? It was the end of a decade, but the start of an age. 🫨🫠🤯🥺 and still feel it and tend to cry every single time I hear it. I haven’t ever been to a Taylor swift concert or show of any type, but these videos honestly make me cry like I’m in the crowd lol. 😂😅

I actually first heard of Taylor years ago through Long Live, but the version where she collaborates with the brazilian singer and composer Paula Fernandes. She allowed Paula to rewrite and sing a whole section of the song instead of having a litteral translation and their version eventually became part of the soundtrack of a br soap opera. Their videoclip (m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5bXq56ZdtRpjaM) was also made in a way where it seems they are both live performing together even being a sea away from each other. Which, from a 2013 perspective, was really dope to watch 😂 I was a Paula fan and later on became a Swiftie thanks to this song

The curse of Taylor is all her big hits and singles end up being like the simplistic, catchy songs - i mean she's smart enough to recognize which ones the radios will play, and she's not gonna miss out on that. But as a result her 10 min All too Wells and her Would've could've shoud've's, like all the masterful storytelling songs she has, they're "from the vault", or bonus tracks, and they're outside the public view and only visible to those who go actively looking for them- those already within the fandom. Outside perspective will always kinda stay the same cuz... her hits play off that narrative.

Yes, I've tried explaining that to non-Swifties and it is hard to explain that although Blank Space and Shake It Off are great songs, they are not a true representation of her vast talent for poetry and storytelling. Nor do many realize her intelligence or that she is playing into the media image as a coping mechanism.

At the end there…the guitar player, Paul, is still her guitar player today. She even highlights him in a guitar solo on tour. 😊

This song always makes me think of when I was in high school marching band and we won a field season trophy lol. I've sadly never been to a TSwift concert but I've been a devoted fan since Speak Now. Speak Now and Evermore are my favorite albums, but I listen to them all continuously. Looks like I might not afford the Eras Tour even though I'm finally old enough to make my own money to go to a concert, but hopefully I'll get to hear this song live someday.

When I was younger I didn't really think much of her. Sure, I've heard one or two songs of her on the radio, but I just always only thought "yeah it's catchy". I never just sat down and REALLY listened, you know? I think that's most haters problem. They just never really paid attention to what she was actually saying, they just shoved her into a box and were done with it. But the thing is - she just does not have a box. For the longest time I didn't know ANY artists like her. One day I saw a video of a live performance... and down the rabbit hole I went!!! It was such a joy! It's suprising how I discovered her "other" music first and not her heartbreak songs, which she was known for. Something just clicked. It was just soo freacking easy to fall in love with her as an artist and then discover her to be a decent and genuine human being, too. You should definetly check out her live performances (It's always a good time!) and her documentaries ("Miss Americana" and the Reputation Stadium Tour!) It will give you a look into her life and what she went throughout her career. I garantee that you will connect the dots in your head to certain lyrics and you will be amazed. OHH and the behind the scenes videos and her "making of a song" videos! You will love it! But frist and foremost - HAVE FUN and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!

Most people only hear the negative about Taylor, and they never really bothered to really listen to her, to learn anything real about her. It's when you sit down, and learn about her, and see her, and you see her personally, that she's real, that's when they become a fan. Taylor's music will grow on you. You may listen to a album, and not really like it, but then you learn the stories behind each song, the how, and why they were created, and suddenly, you find you like the songs, then you love the songs. Long time ago, I heard about Taylor, and people always said she can't sing, and I agreed, that her voice really wasn't that good, that it didn't really have much range. I didn't dislike her, I just didn't care to listen to her music, because it didn't really stand out to me, because I wasn't really listening to it, wasn't listening to the words. I somehow found myself watch Journey To Fearless, it's a Documentary Concert you can watch on youtube. This video does a great job of showing you who Taylor really is, and getting you to listen to her songs for the first time really, and after watching that video I was a Swiftie! That was around 2010. I went on to watch the Speak Now concert, and knew I made the right decision. Taylor can sing, but she has more a character voice, not really the kind of voice you consider a singers voice. As she got older, her voice has gotten much better. I think that's the reason why you really need to be introduced to her in just the right way, and it just clicks, and you become a fan. You see her in a whole different way.

Imagine sitting there, writing a song for your band and your fans thinking your career may just end after this album. Speak Now was a huge risk and the media was honestly getting onto her about a lot, especially it being after the VMA situation and such. All spotlights were on here and it was her 3rd album which as many know there is a trend between artists where either their 3rd/4th album are considered massive flops and usually bring their career down. Going from fearless to speak now was a huge dynamic shift as sonically they were very different and she took many risks. It paid off though with a Grammy win and nomination and she came out on top above all the naysayers

@@TheNraveles yeah I was thinking that from the start, when she announced how are the surprise songs going to work... but I'm still debating with myself, if it's gonna be the last show of the US leg or last show over all. Like of course it would make most sense if it was last show over all, but WHEN the hell is that going to be? Also being from the US it would maybe make sense if she sang it on the last show of US leg. I don't know,I'm quite torn.

Taylor KNOWS words: in terms of dynasty and noble family, the French legal term for a legitimate claim to a title or throne is "pretendre" (tender, offer legal proof). Taylor is largely self-taught (she had to home school after her first album released, because, touring). She read a lot of history during the long Fearless tour (about a year and a half of touring). A "pretender' is someone with a legitimate claim: so, in English History you have James Stewart (The Old Pretender) and his son, Charles (The Young Pretender). The Stuart dynasty was set aside because it was Catholic, replaced by William of Orange (William III). It does NOT mean fake in that sense. So, in talking about "pretenders" I am pretty sure Taylor is just talking about RIVALS (other artists), and isn't calling them fakes.

There’s been some discussion that she wrote this for her long-time former co-writer and collaborator Nathan Chapman. They co-wrote and co-produced her Grammy Album of the Year and Diamond-selling album Fearless together. This song is seen by some to be about what Taylor and Nathan achieved together, some of the backlash her Grammy win received from music industry and critical snobs, and their legacy together as the creators of that album. I agree with this analysis, as the lyrics are way too specific to just be only about “the fans.”

Yes, I agree she can sang! I think a great deal of criticism comes from either jealousy or the perception that it isn't cool to like Taylor Swift and consider her talented. Like people who think country sucks but never really took the time to listen to it seriously. But who cares she's laughing all the way to the bank.
