Dude, gotta stop and say thank you for these videos. You helped me get an amazing metal tone with my helix and IR's last year, as a total beginner. And now you're helping me recommend the Pod GO to a friend with very little to spend on a good setup. Thanks a lot. Also, I love your metal tones. Do you happen to have a page where I can just drop a donation your way as a thank you for all the help?

Really thinking hard on this one. My amp is going back to the shop and I'm sick of being without a amp for a month Everytime this 6505+112 shits out on me. Thinking this and a head rush 1x8 should meet my bed room playing needs.

Great video. Is there a way to get a metal sound and a clean sound in the same patch? I can’t imagine snapshots get the high gain amps clean enough? Thanks!
@yoe912 жыл бұрын
Silly question but I'm curious: does the POD GO device change the tone a lot compared to just the Line 6 software on its own as a plugin ?.. that is a GREAT tone here though.
@NickHillMakesMusic2 жыл бұрын
When you say software, are you referring to Helix Native? The POD Go, while not having the same amount of DSP power, uses the same technology as the Helix products so you can get the same sounds.
@yoe912 жыл бұрын
@@NickHillMakesMusic Yeah, the latest Helix Native. I'm getting decent sounds, esp with those quality OwnHammer IR's, but I'm wondering if there isn't just an extra realism generated by the hardware from a physical device like the POD GO. Like just that source tone itself before any EQ/tweaking. I'd imagine that would be more realistic in the POD GO vs pure plugin power, eg Helix Native.
@NickHillMakesMusic2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Think of the plug-in simply using your computer hardware as the DSP hardware/processing power you’d normally use in a hardware POD Go or helix. It’s still computing the same 1’s and 0’s

Hey Nick thanks for the vid. If you were in a local modern metal band, and wanted to run a board like this through a powerstage 170 and into a 2x12, would you choose the POD GO or the HX Stomp? I use a regular rhythm tone, a lead tone with heavy delay and some reverb, and a clean tone.
@NickHillMakesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Icipher4 I honestly think either would work well brother!

have you had any success making a preset that has tones as heavy as your first two metal tones? but also being able to have a clean, decently ambient sound? or would i be looking at two seperate presets in order to make that work?
@vishnugopakumar8807 Жыл бұрын
chances are you won't find an amp/cab combo that can have smooth cleans and can be pushed to distortion. it'll have to be two presets, but you can have 4 snapshots within each one!
@ThePinnacleSFA Жыл бұрын
@@vishnugopakumar8807 i've actually had decent success with a single preset! its definitely still a work in progress, but maybe i'll try to put up a video of it in the next few days here!

So I had a question about these Ownhammer Workhorse IRs, because as I said in a comment on your last video, I'm really interested. How do they differ in your opinion from the Heavy Hitters pack? I have the Heavy Hitters pack, but now started using an IR pack by a new company that I prefer over the Heavy Hitters pack, but I hear the Workhorse pack is like next level compared to the older Ownhammer stuff (not that the old stuff was bad, absolutely not)
@NickHillMakesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Dude... If what you have is working for you.. USE IT. Don't get caught up in Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS). All of these IRs are AWESOME. We have access to hundreds or thousands of cab/speaker/mic options. Use what works for you. That's all I can say and my point is... Don't get caught up in details that derail your creativity or slow you down. Cheers Bro!

Have you tried getting a metal tone going into an amp and cab? I cant seem to get a decent high gain tone and I am at a loss with this.
@NickHillMakesMusic2 жыл бұрын
Like, a real amp and cab WITH Pod Go, HX Stomp or Helix device? Or, a metal tone with an amp and can on its own? The answer would be yes to both.
@anthonyfonzimusic7722 жыл бұрын
@@NickHillMakesMusic Yeah I mean with the Pod go then through a tube amp and cab....You have gotten good gain tones? if so, is there a trick.
@NickHillMakesMusic2 жыл бұрын
If you’re gonna do that, you’ll want to only run the Amp block. Many folks fun it 4-cable method (look it up if you’re not familiar) but you don’t want to run a full patch into the front of the amp as in most cases, you’ll be running as an example.. OD Block> Amp Block> Cab Block then into your real amp which will add its own color, gain, power section color THEN, into a guitar cab. If that’s the scenario, you’re definitely gonna sound like a wet blanket over it all. Cab into a cab won’t sound good at all. There are plenty of videos here on YT to integrate an FX processor into a full rig.
@joe10033 жыл бұрын
ok so what i want to know is this...im using this setting exactly except no ir or cab sim just my 4x12 cab ...now if i wanna match volume to my other presets ..whats the best way...turn down the channel volume ? or what other options do i have ? all my other presets i keep the main volume on the unit at half way but with this preset its at 10 oclock...

Hi Nick! I have autism, and I'm exceptionally sensitive to high end frequencies. I just had to send a Moore GE-200 back because I couldn't get a sound out of it that wasn't painful. Would the Pod Go work for me? I know it has more EQ options like shelfs and high pass/low pass etc. I'm using Sennheiser 598 headphones. Sorry for the big comment, but I'm finding it really hard to get a low-volume rig going, and it's starting to upset me.
@NickHillMakesMusic4 жыл бұрын
I know it the Helix has what called a global EQ where you would be able to roll off the high end on everything. I believe the POD Go has this too. You also may want to research headphones and their frequency responses or curves and find a pair that is more favorable for your hearing needs. I hope that helps.
