The real truth is this isn’t a Nicki vs. Cardi or anyone issue… it’s a labels/business execs vs. Nicki Minaj issue. Nicki took female rap to the highest heights, & is still the most dominant & successful female rapper of all time. And she’s managed to stay at the top for going on 14 years now. That’s longer than any female rapper in history has ever managed to stay relevant, yet alone at the top of the rap game. Labels & execs don’t like that. They want her gone. Problem is; they haven’t been able to succeed at it - because Nicki has something that can’t ever be taken away, & that’s a loyal & dedicated MASSIVE fanbase. They can try to take away radio play or damage her name in the press, but they can’t take away fans. And that takes me to these females, a lot of them now you see a pattern, they get a buzz, give Nicki praise, ask for a collab almost immediately, and then fall out a few months/year later. Nicki has caught on to that, they are using her. Let’s be honest Meg used her. And it had nothing to do w/ her collaborating WITH Cardi, but more so how she treated Nicki afterwards. Nicki is tired of being used by girls showing fake love, she’s a LEGEND, Nicki is from another entire generation & was a legend before any of these girls ever came on the scene. She wants respect & not to be treated as some “jumping off” point for another girls career who can’t even sell a record or concert tickets like she does . Nicki got the biggest solo hip hop song this year, male or female. And they mad. Bottom line.

Nicki and Meg were last publicly seen during that Billboard Women in Music event which was December of 2019, Nicki had her son 10 months later, so IF that blind item was about Meg, then it took place then when Nicki was trying to get pregnant (which makes sense because she found out she was in February of 2020)

I am one of the people who wishes Nicki would adopt the Beyoncé strategy of not speaking, BUT I understand why she doesn’t. In 2018 the entire industry and culture turned against her. They really tried to get her out of here. One of the main things people said about Nicki during that period was that she wasn’t “hood” enough. And they would say Nicki never responding to anyone or addressing anything was evidence of that. Nicki tried to play female rap like a pop star and it almost ended her. People are always tryna judge Nicki for not acting like her contemporaries(Beyoncé, Rihanna, etc), but fail to realize that they are in very different environments. Pop has always had room for everyone and multiple queens, female rap doesn’t. Female rap has pretty much always only had room for one main girl or 2 main girls going at it. This goes back to Foxy and Kim, and then Kim and Eve. The former started out cool and supporting each other, and 2 seconds later it was diss tracks and shootouts. And yes, there were female rappers before them, but the idea of their being a “Queen of rap”: someone with the ability to not only top the charts, but expand into different genres, fashion, and become something of a superstar wasn’t really a thing until the 90s with Kim and Foxy(in my opinion). And people who say we need to get rid of that model are usually the main ones perpetuating it. You don’t get rid of this “dog eat dog” model by constantly shading other artists under the guise of supporting your fav and then saying “we can have multiple queens of rap” as an excuse. Anyways, Nicki being “classy” didn’t work, and I’m quite sure if she tried to go back to that model her haters and fans would find some way to make it an issue. Another thing the culture did and continue to do is weaponize Nicki’s versatility and superstardom against her. They say that she’s too pop, and that her being able to go into different genres somehow delegitimizes her as a rapper. They’re doing it with Doja now too. I’m pretty sure they did it to Rico Nasty as well, and I’m scared they’re going to do it to Doechii. This is why I don’t think Nicki has had fun with rap in a while. I think she’s been making music for men in an effort to get the “hood vote” or keep the “hood”(men and pick-mes) happy. And I definitely think she’s dumbed down her pen and production for mass appeal as well. Her songs are still good, but they don’t hit like they used to, and I blame the culture for that. I really do wish we could just lay all this shit to rest. It’s boring asl. I would like for Nicki to have fun musically again, and I would love for everyone to just do their own thing without it being drama. Tbh, the fans are the main ones responsible for most of this shit. They were the main ones responsible for the original conflict in 2018 too. Cuz I truly do think both Nicki and Cardi tried to ignore the bullshit and be cool, but the fans and distrust got to them in the end.
