Well, you're lucky to have gotten so much use out of yours. I'm trying to figure out how to emboss with the folder that came with the machine and my top clear plate broke right in half! I am so disappointed and have no idea what I did wrong.

If the plate broke, it’s likely too much pressure. Never hurts to contact the company just to be sure. If you try again start with less things going through the machine and slowly increase until you get the pressure you want.

so im late viewing this, my gemini is very new to me, I managed to break one of my plates!!!Im very impressed as my big shot is 5 yrs lol NN moving on ..... can yu show me the sandwich for cutting through cardstock and paper together. eg cutting a rectangle from a matted piece of card stock?

I’m in the middle of moving or I would send a pic but the regular sandwich is hard plastic plate, flimsy non- see thru plate, magnetic shim, die face up, cardstock, another clear cutting plate. I hope that helps. Feel free to reach out if you are still having problems.

When I use this sandwich for embossing it’s hard to get started and it makes a horrible noise when coming all the way out. Is this normal)

Yes - it takes some effort to get them started and the plates to make noise. If it sounds like something is cracking then take a layer out and see what it sounds like.

I've had my gemini Jr. for about a year and a half and today I did something dumb. I used the rubber embossing mat as a shim and now it is partially stuck inside the machine. I can still run a sandwich through and cut a die but the mat is caught on something and I can't budge it. It is sticking out the back of the machine. Any advice on what I can do to get it out? (please no shaming. I know I was an idiot)

No judgement, I mess things up all the time. I bet this has happened before- I would contact the company Crafters Companion and see if they can help get it out. I would be scared to keep running it in case it made it even harder to get out. I have never tried anything but going in reverse to try to get something out.

Just a follow up in case anyone else ever has the same issue. I was just able to remove the embossing mat. I unplugged it and decided that it was stuck on something on top of the machine. I lifted up the flap that is in the back and tugged a bit and it started to come out so I tugged a bit harder and the entire mat eventually came out. There are no tears or wrinkles in it and it is still usable (just not in the way I did).

You are very hard on your poor little machine force-feeding it like that if you’re trying to get a rectangular piece of paper why not just use a paper cutter and cut a rectangular piece of paper instead of abusing your machine?

Do you have one of these machines? I use very thick card stock and these machines require you to push the plates to start the automatic pulling through of the plates. It may seem as if I am hard on it but I use it daily and have had it for at least 5 years with no problems. It is a tough machine! I prefer to die cut shapes etc if I have the die because of the precise nature of dies. If you don’t have a die machine, yes you could just use a paper trimmer for simple shapes. Does that answer your question?
