Darrick Thomson works at Elephant Nature Park in Northern Thailand, and is the husband of the park's founder Lek Chailert. He's become part of the family for this group of elephants. Darrick isn't their owner, and they don't run to him like pets. They love him and must see him in need of protection, cause they treat him like they do little calves, that's why they surround him like that. Comparing elephants and dogs is like comparing eagles and doves.

Elephants are the only land mammals than can't "jump," mainly because of their huge weight. Other four-legged creatures can gallop (or run) with all four legs in the air at some point during the "run" cycle -- unlike elephants which must have at least three legs in contact with the ground whether walking or running -- hence, the fast walk.

Слоны-то, просто домашние животные!!! И как с ними жить, если уже они привязались и доверились человеку, они же не смогут жить в дикой природе?! И сколько тогда можно их размножать, если они в безопасности и сытости, и под охраной человека от тигров и львов, конечно, слонов много не бывает, ведь они так долго выращивают детёнышей. Вообще-то зоопарков в мире много и всем такой гигант удобен, только заготовляй траву, как корове. А у нас в Сибири травы много, слоникам хватит, лишь бы аклематизировались к морозам, можно как корову держать в большом, тёплом сарае.
