This incredible woman has rescued 200 elephants over the past 20 years. She started her elephant rescue efforts when she was just a young server. Putting aside as much as possible to rescue and take care of her first elephant. Lek is also the founder of Elephant Nature Park and the Save Elephant Foundation.
ENP is an elephant rehabilitation center in Chiang Mai Thailand that takes in abused elephants and gives them a second chance at life. When you visit Thailand, make sure you are supporting the right businesses. Elephant Nature Park is definitely one of them.

If you didn't know already, this trip to Thailand is for an upcoming project by the name of Black Tusk. Black Tusk is going to be a short documentary (25-30 minutes) and it will showcase the abuse elephants in SE Asia face due to the tourism industry and it will promote socially responsible alternatives to Elephant trekking such as Elephant sanctuaries. The idea is, tourists need to co-exist with these beautiful animals instead of exploiting them and we need your help to share this message.

Kamila M. Whenever you see a video put up on KZbin by someone that is on vacation in a country where they allow elephants to be used for tourism, and the tourist is proudly riding on the elephant, PLEASE tell them via comment what was done to that elephant they are on and continues to be done to that magnificent creature so they can say I RODE AN ELEPHANT!! People are ignorant in the torture that elephant went through, goes through, so they can pay money to enjoy a stupid ride which continues to ensure that the elephant is used horribly and their spirit degraded everyday. EDUCATE THEM!!

So beautiful!!! I had chills the whole video!!! When I was 6 my mother brought me to the circus. She had me ride the elephants at the end of the show. As soon as I sat on the elephant. I felt exhaustion and pain all over my body. I had an instant headache. I even said to the guide she is sick and has a fever. I could feel this elephants sadness. I cried silently. The fella that walked the elephant around talked with me and said she has been a little down lately. They offered me another ride and I got upset thinking I was hurting her. I was given the 2nd ride and I just caressed her rubbing her and telling her one day she will be free and feel better. I took all the love I had and energy and passed it to the elephant. A few weeks later in the newspaper was a story that she had passed. She traveled with the circus for a long. They claimed they didn't know the cause of death. But I knew! I balled my eyes out finding she had passed. And they she showed me she was okay! I had a dream and she and I were in fields of green and water all around. She was happy looked healthy and we slept together in a field. I woke up that afternoon from a nap beyond excited that I had seen her! My mom had know since I was very young I have gifts that allow me to see and feel animals and their spirit, and much more but, at this instant it was all about her! We had a little ceremony for her so I could release her soul. - this helped me allow the pain I experienced to be given to the universe. Thank you mom for guiding me through such confusing times of pain and supporting me through my experiences! I wouldn't be who I am without you! RIP 😇

I was so heartbroken a few years ago when I saw a woman who did lots of work for elephants be so uncaring with them. She would rescue and then split up the elephants even though they had been brought up together and would not leave each others sides. She graded the elephants into age, and sent them off into different areas and the elephants would be desolate without their friend. I mean she would even point out how depressed and broken they were without their mate and she did not care. I can see here in the video there are different age ranges all kept together and it's so lovely !!!! ❤ I have never forgotten that pedantic woman from years ago 😧😞

Elephants are so intelligent, family oriented, protectors of the young in their herd, and have incredible memories. They will remember an elephant they haven't seen for years and get so excited to see each other again. These elephants clearly KNOW and UNDERSTAND that THIS LADY LEK saved them from lives of pain and horror. They will never forget her but if any of the men who treated them so cruelly showed up, they better watch out, the elephants will remember them and what they did to them.

I love how people always ask in the comments if she is not afraid that the elephants might crush her by accidentally stepping on her, but what people don't realize is that elephants have extremely sensitive feet, on a flat surface their feet can even sense a tiny grain of rice. Also you will notice the elephant doesn't pick up it's feet more then a few centimeters when it knows the woman is under them it just shuffles it's feet. I just love how protective these elephants are of this woman they always stand over her for protection like they do with a baby elephant.
