Did I miss something? Aren’t you suppose to wet the soil ? Or is that seeds in a dry soil?
@susansawyer2475
@susansawyer2475 Жыл бұрын
@@jennifersteeves5482 they wetted the compost soil before they planted the seeds. The plastic cover helps to conserve moisture. This is a tough plant that grows in it's native area of extremes.

Good to see a video that shows all the stages, not just sowing the seed which is the easy part! I have found that some echinacea varieties (like Green Twister, beautiful) do flower a bit in year one but definitely much stronger and better flowering in year 2.

Thank you very much for this clear & easy to follow tutorial. I really appreciated that it was aimed at a novice or small scale gardener, and that was devoid of pricey ( and perhaps unnecessary?) gadgets like grow lights, heat mats, mini trowels, and the like. Also thank you for mentioning that Echinacea only flowers the subsequent season! I nearly threw mine out, wondering if I had bought duds. All the best & happy gardening. Keep making those videos, so helpful

When they die during winter do you just leave them to do their thing? Or do you need to cover them to avoid frost or cut them back or anything like that? (Sorry very new to gardening was going to do some of these this week) also can they be kept in a large pot/container? How deep should the pot be if so?

I was going to comment this too!😅 Thankyou🙌 I'm going to try & grow mine in pots too! I've done a bit of research, and I think the size pots you choose, depend how big you want the plant to grow in height? And I think the pots need good drainage holes. I'm excited to see mine flower next year, it's an exciting project & something to look forward to!😄 I thought I'd do it now because I'd regret it when it comes round to next year😅

@Noshin Mahmud I started mine in seedling trays & am slightly increasing the pot sizes as time goes on & they get bigger, not sure how big the end pot will be, but going to try different ones out & see what does best, or if putting 2 in a trough will work? Mine grew seedlings within like 2 weeks, and at the point when the stem & leaves got bigger, that's when I moved it to a slightly bigger pot. Hope it goes well for you😊🤞x
