Love the color, wish they'd put more classic colors like this on cars today instead of just on new Mustangs. Too many cars today are all the same dull grey, black, or white and they all look the same. Older cars were more organic, the cars of today are more like a bubble. Such a pleasure to drive my 79 F150.

grey cars and black trucks existed back in the 60's and 70's to, the difference between then and now is not so much the color, but it's the way the color interacts with the body. since most vehicles back then were solid steel bodies, when the paint dries, it becomes a metallic sort of color. well metallic paint doesn't fade or age fast on a steel body, modern vehicles use sheet metal, and the paint they use is matte. so when the paint dries, it has this bright shiny glare from a certain angle. so as the truck ages, the color fades it's original color overtime, especially in states that get alot of sun. however while older cars age better, in order to keep it looking clean for long periods of use, you wanted to avoid getting them wet for too long, or leave them outside in states with climates that get snow. because the paint will start chipping away, i like both for different reasons. i don't think modern trucks look bad, but everything gets boring after awhile if you see the same colors. the reason their were more color options back then, it's because black was sort of seen as a negative, and because a hearse was always black, nobody wanted to be seen in a black car. the classic limos of the 50's and 60's, along with the hearse, they were always black, so regular cars and trucks were often given lighter colors, so seeing red cars, yellow, green, teal blue, orange was quite common. but some trucks in the 70's were white, i don't recall any grey trucks, but it's possible they might exist. but the other reason people like them more, it's because some trucks would have a two tone color scheme. my 78 F250 was like that, Ford brought that two tone color scheme on the early 90's Ford F series, specifically the 93 and 94 model year. but 97 was the last year Ford made a solid, from 98 and after the F Series was all new from the ground up.

I have a 96 F150 (which is the last year of the box style F-Series half ton before the 97 full redesign.)with 202,000 miles on it still going strong and it's a good looking truck it's got the old school look of a traditional pickup but it has power Windows,door locks, aircondition, and remote start.

Oh the nostalgia. My dad had one of these trucks back in the late 70's early 80s. Great truck.I believe his was stick shift, Stick came out through the center floor board. Not on the side of the steering wheel like this truck. Never had any issues with the exception of a small fire. I used to love riding in the cargo are when safety ws not much of a concern for kids or parents. 🤣 He worked on that truck every day until he got it fixed. Traded it in for a 84 Chevy pickup. Good old days.

There's no reason to stop at 1970 when the fifth generation F-Series trucks were from 67-72. On top of that, the 73-79 trucks are every bit as good as the prior generation. Late '77-79 F250/F350 trucks were the best of them all. I prefer the old trucks but if you put an old truck up against a new one, the old truck is going to lose in just about every category. Where the old trucks shine is how well they hold up over the years whereas newer trucks have become disposable.

My first NEW vehicle was a 1970 F100. But I always put a lot of miles on my trucks, so 6 years on I sold it. Inline "6", three on the tree and no PS---PB or air conditioning. The ONLY problem I ever had was the brake light switch fell out of the mounting bracket, killing the battery and leaving me stranded. Considering how I hammered it, that was miraculous. Of course simplicity helped. The single biggest thing I miss about the new ones is ya can't buy one with a stick. I LIKE standards. The manufacturers don't.

@NickMurray10 жыл бұрын
I have driven the RC350 F Sport but no I will not be doing a review on one, I really don't like that much about them so would find it hard to find things to say. MotoMan is correct however the leather work and some of the fittings (not the console or the Nav system which are 10 years behind) are miles ahead of BMW, also the engine sound is very nice. Performance is not on par with BMW or the MB at this price point and I think Lexus is trying too hard to look like an Audi. Over all I think the new MB C class is the current leader in this segment by quite a margin, and I suspect the new Audi A4 next year will step it up as well.
