I actually kind of like the idea of deep north being same difficulty as ashlands, because of the way they appear on the map as equal distance from the center. You would have a choice of which biome to go to first. So far we haven't really had a choice of which biom to tackle since they are all sequentially more difficult.

I actually really liked the Mistlands approach to difficulty. Sure, the fog is a bit excessive and the Gjall can become tedious, but the overall design of progression felt very well fleshed out. The sap mechanic and mushroom farming provided a legitimate reason to build there. The dungeons allowed them to have spikes in difficulty that were contained. The Dveger added their own depth to the biome by holding resources you actually need but not being hostile. My hope is that the deep north can have more width like that, perhaps also adding in an outpost/village mechanic and giving you an incentive to engage with all of them.

I love the idea that the deep north will have chill moments. I think the reason why I enjoy the game so much is because of the vibes. There is nothing quite like making a nice base and just looking out to the sunset over the ocean, or looking down upon other biomes from the safety of your mountain castle. Mistlands will never have that vibe since the core mechanic of that zone is the least vibey thing in the entire game. Ashlands is basically hell lmao, so not exactly that one either.
@notyourbusiness3568Күн бұрын
You wouldn't believe what I see from my mistlands tallest rock formation base. There is nothing you can compare with that view, its breathtaking and just beautiful. Not every part of mistlands has mist, also from above, you can see all those parts without mist and other biomes as well, I feel cozy, warm and comfy in that base. Mistlands update was the best update so far imo, but I really liked the idea of gemstones added with Ashlands update and I hope they go more in depth with that, like for example add more of those, create armor variants for the gems as well.

What i want from new zone: Snow giants (that also trow large snowballs when attacking player from range) Ice elementals that can fly and apply cold debuff to player (same as having no cloack) Extremly cold water and wearing too heavy armor can break the ice under you. Smaller and faster boat made out of flametal that can destroy the ice (normal boat gets stuck and takes damage). Ice storms that causes ice spikes to fall (like ones from dragon boss) and players have to seek shelter or heat to not get frozen when its happening.

One interesting approach that could be cool for fleshing out existing biomes is allowing "starred up" variations of older biomes closer to the edge of the map, containing much more abundant amounts of that biome's resources but also having much stronger enemies. Could make collecting resources from the midgame biomes much more engaging when you've progressed beyond it, and also give a lot more utility to high tier weapons that are irrelevant due to damage resistences in their own biome.

Last biome needs to have: - The Dvergr Fortresses that we can hear them brag about - either dungeon or outer world cities. - Jotuun - we see their skeletons and we know they live in this world. Based on their skulls in Mistlands they gotta be huge bulky bois we gonna have to hard prep to challenge. - Cult of the Wolf culmination - The big wolf they threat as a diety - either as side boss, mini boss - asmain boss would'nt fit in and be epic enough imo after Fader. Maybe to obtain some legendary weapon. - The Child that affected Fader - perhaps an npc that spawns in similar way to trader as gives us task, but as we complete them hugin warns us of his deception? culminating with him morphing into some final boss monstrosity dark souls style? - Wild fauna, which we can speculate on: Bears are a meme at this point but polar bears make sense - best meat source. Perhaps Seals or Penguins on shore that arent hostile initially or a challenge, but hard to catch for good food. Mammoths perhaps but i dont see it, they would be a bit clunky. - As for plantables i have legit no clue what could feasibly be grown in deep north other than some mystical fungi idk - A reason we needed to defeat Fader before being able to venture there - Weather condition so harsh only with Fader Loot we could craft smth to resist it? - Every weapon type final chapter. A custom named cool weapons with cool effects. (Not Crystal Sword but Bane of Men - namewise) content before Deep North needs: - Light armor variant for plains - a little more viarety to oceans, perhaps sub-biomes for them. Casual Ocean would spawn all around the world, with parts of it being idk "Dark Ocean" that would start spawning around swamps/plains spawn area with some draugr boats or little island with spanwers and some loot - Ocean travel event - you would get attacked by some flying mobs for a while or entangled by tentacles of a kraken-like creature that u'd have to fight off? - More custom PoI for oceans, whether its little islands or decripit boats. - MORE TWO HANDED AXES AFTER MOUNTAINS - PLEASE

Also, I know that "Valheim" is supposed to be this non-cannonical realm of Yggdrasil, but Irongate could do full priced DLC, where after conquering Valheim you get a recipe that makes a portal that takes you to an entirely "new realm" to start over... once you take the portal there's no going back. Whether it's a "real realm" like Heleheim or Jotunheim, or a new made up realm of their own, with all new biomes, enemies, weapons, etc. They coooould make it its own standalone game too instead of a DLC, and entirely overhaul the game, with new building mechanics on par with something like Enshrouded. I just really hope their next game stays in this "universe".

Well, speculation can start on what Fader dropped, which is the Fader Relic. The difficulty in the Deep North could be piecing together an artifact that could reveal the mysteries of Valheim. There might be minibosses to wrestle the other relics from. I hope the progression would follow a plot, which seemed to start with Fader's story.

@frankgoesdownstairs2 күн бұрын
II loved, absolutely loved Valheim when it launched, and I still do-I have over 900 hours in the game. However, I absolutely hated almost everything about the Mistlands and strongly disliked the Ashlands. In my eyes, both biomes are primarily designed to challenge the player, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but when that challenge makes playing the game annoying, it becomes a problem. Keep in mind that this is subjective, but I think there are many others who feel the same way. The mist in the Mistlands adds a cool atmosphere, but it quickly-almost instantly-makes the biome annoying to traverse. Paired with terrain that’s already difficult to navigate, it turns the whole experience into a pain. No amount of Wisps can change that. The entire biome feels claustrophobic, including the dungeons, and I had no enjoyment whatsoever while playing it. In fact, I got so annoyed that, before finishing the biome, I resorted to using the console to fly around because I couldn’t deal with the mist and terrain any longer. The Ashlands, while far less annoying than the Mistlands, just didn’t appeal to me. It felt barren, boring, and, in my opinion, lacked the charm that the original biomes had. To be fair, coming off the Mistlands experience, I was already annoyed at the game, so I was undoubtedly biased. I really hope the Deep North brings back the charm that originally made Valheim so special. As I said, I love this game for so many reasons-I’ve even made mods for it-but I feel like the developers forgot to make the experience fun in the last two biomes, focusing instead on difficulty. Fingers crossed that my picky little soul will be satisfied when version 1.0 lands.

I agree, Valheim "changed" with the Mislands and Ashlands, it isn't the same and I don't have the same love for those biomes that I do the original 5. I still love this game, and have put more hours in Valhiem than I have any other recent game that I own; but my motivation kind of sizzled out after setting foot in the Mistlands; I was actually excited for the spiderweb world that was the Mistlands before that biome was released, I was a bit saddened that it was changed that much from what the placeholder was. I truly hope too that the devs get back to their roots with the final biome.
