@@vvargreymon_rus That's one of my favorite parts. People make mistakes and ignorant decisions but no one is holding the traditional "idiot ball." A highlight moment for me is when Rhonda mentions there's more creatures and tries to explain it. They just believe her and work together. So many similar low(ish) budget monster movies would (and have, I've seen plenty) milk scenes like that for drama and tension. They'd have in-fighting with the town until the next attack and then they'd work together. With a hold out or two because some* filmmakers believe you "need" a human antagonist to humanize the story. Another one of my favorite movies. I was 19 when this came out and I saw it twice at the theater where I was living at the time. When I first saw it, it made me think of the big bug movies from the 1950's I watched on TV when I was a little boy in the 70's. For me, the best of the big bug films is THEM! from 1954. A truly classic movie with Edmund Gwenn, who played Kris Kringle in the 1948 film Miracle On 34th Street, and James Arness, who would go on to play Marshal Matt Dillon on the long running Western series Gunsmoke. There was also a small scene with a young Leonard Nimoy several years before playing Spock on Star Trek. The character of Mindy in Tremors was played by Ariana Richards, who would go on to play Lex in the original Jurassic Park. What really made Tremors such a great movie for me was, among other things, the characters of Val and Earl and their dynamic. Kevin Bacon and the late Fred Ward, may he rest in peace(I still miss him) were amazing in their respective roles. They really were quite the pair. Thank you for another amazing reaction.

Dirt is in fact a very good bullet stop. Many rural gun ranges use high dirt berms at the far end of the the range for this reason. Similarly, many people who regularly target shoot rurally will have a good dirt berm for additional bullet stop. Also, this is why Burt has a .50 cal anti-tank solid bronze bullet in Tremors 2. Graboids and their permutations start out kinda dumb, but do grow in intelligence as they mature. This resets on each cycle, though. Dumb dirt dragon>smart dirt dragon>dumb graboid>smart graboid>dumb shriekers>smart shriekers>dumb assblasters>smart assblasters>eggs>repeat. The second one at Burt's place didn't know the truck was their transportation. It was just roaming around and happened to nudge the truck in such a way that it set off the alarm, which is why it attacked the truck. Noises = probable food sources.

The survivalists' basement is lined with unreinforced concrete blocks, which is normally fine for most basements, unless you live near a fault line or a powerful, giant, aggressive, burrowing animal hits the blocks from a 90 degree angle. I mean, everyone knows that!! 👀🧠😱

The characters in this series act much more realistically than in other similar movies. They don’t act stupid. They make realistic plans that could very well work but don’t simply because of something they couldn’t really plan for. It’s easy to see why this series became a cult classic. Some of the more recent movies aren’t as good but I still enjoy them to some degree. Also Burt is awesome in all of them.

Now I might not be remembering this correctly, but I could swear that I heard or read an interview with Kevin where he said at first, he hated this movie. He thought it would be his downfall etc. And later, over time, he changed his mind about it, and said the whole experience was one of his best movie making experiences he ever had. And he was grateful that it became a cult classic and has stood the test of time.

You know how they say that sometimes, the second movie is better than the first? Tremors is an exception to that. The first is significantly the best. Both Kevin Bacon and Reba McEntire have some of the best sarcastic comebacks in this whole movie. Side note: The little girl with the pogo stick was played by Ariana Richards, who's best known as Lex Murphy from Jurassic Park.

I agree that the original is best, but I think it's rare people say the sequel is better than the first. Maybe a little more in the last decade, but across all cinema, I think the general consensus is that sequels are usually not as good. But I will say I think part 2 of this particular franchise is very much worth watching. They wait a while to give the reveal. The ideas make sense, even if they don't pan out the way they want. Burt, being Burt is just great.

29:13 *"she making explosion I think"* 😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️ No, that's not what she's doing. That's not what that is. What?! LOL That machine is called a *Case Cleaner/Vibratory Case Polisher/Shell Case Polisher.* One of the steps for reloading cartridges involves brass cartridge case polishing. Polishes to remove *burns, gunpowder marks, and dirt,* while restoring the casing to its pre-fired shine. It's a device that cleans empty, fired casings of ammunition. Agitates empty brass cases in a mildly abrasive medium. And that is not dirt, it is a polishing compound. Perfectionists like *Burt* and *Heather* want their cases sparkling clean before they reload them. If you didn't know, Now you know. Your Welcome. Get educated, Stay educated. 💪🇺🇸💪

The second unit director of Tremors has a KZbin Channel where he posted a bunch of home video his dad filmed during the production of the movie. The Channel is called Real Deal Productions, and he narrates the clips and explains some really fun stuff about how the movie was made. If you enjoyed Tremors, you’ll love his videos.

Underground god-damn monsters! I love Tremors, it's one of my favourite films. The monsters are dangerous but not unstoppable, with both the people and the Graboids learning about each other. It's a battle of wits with the people being pretty smart about it rather than the plot being driven by them being idiots. Also interesting as a rare horror film set almost entirely in bright sunlight. The sequels are great too, definitely worth watching too, and even the TV series is fun, even if it's a bit wackier than the films.

Yesss. One of my favourite films since I was a kid! So glad you reacted to this.
@Fettman898 ай бұрын
Really when you think about it, the way they shot this is brilliant, they took a JAWS approach when shooting where, you get visual cues the monster is there but never really see it beyond glimpses, and having the small tongue ones be the first real look at the monster you get adds some suspense and mystery, like this relatively little thing was holding back a big old truck and pulled an entire car into the ground? Even the POV shots you get is very inspired by JAWS, like that first part where the camera is in a Dutch angle then slowly rolls into position and moves towards Ronda. Or the Construction crew and the Jackhammer is a really good set up too because it shows early on, maybe things don't seem the way they appear as far as the monster being little guys. This was using practical effects too so the big Graboids you saw in camera were actually there in the environment, there were also a few shots that were comped, which is still technically an in camera technique and not CGI, a good scene to go back to and see what I mean is when Burt and Reba were in the rec room and there's a shot where Burt is standing in front of the Graboid coming out of the wall, firing shots into it, and it look a little darker than the other non comped shots, but basically what they did was film the scene with just the Graboid doing it's part, which I believe was a miniature on a miniature sized set of the rec room, then the same scene was filmed with Burt doing his part and they essentially erase the background of the Burt shot, leaving only him, then put it on top of the other shot with just the graboid. This movie is a goldmine for a practical effect lover like myself.

I don’t think they ever say it, but Nestor (the guy who got sucked through the tire) is Melvin’s dad.
@LeGrandSarrazin8 ай бұрын
Yea, it's obvious now as an adult, but as a kid I never knew who Melvin's parents were, or even thought about it. And when he gets sucked under and Melvin starts freaking out, I always just thought he was freaking out in general, lol I think it's funny they never explicitly clarify that, but I guess it fits the backstory that they aren't close and Nestor's seemingly divorced, which is why Melvin's an obnoxious, attention-starved, a-hole and you don't see them together much, if ever. Which, since the movie was meant for adults anyway, as a horror flick, I guess we can let it slide that they don't make it obv enough for a kid to understand.
@NZBigfoot8 ай бұрын
@@LeGrandSarrazinThing is, people never do the maths and realize that from the info they give, Melvin appears to be a kid in a small population town with no parents... which makes no sense, unless Nestor was his dad... but yeah, Melvins freak out and calls for 'do something!' screams familial relation. But yeah, no one seems to spot that, which ive always found strange since I thought it first time I ever saw the movie.

But we think Melvin’s reaction is still understandable. He’s just a teenager, and he’s never seen anybody killed, let alone in such a scary way. It makes him see how much danger they are in."
