Why would you not channel the stitching so that it will last longer?
@umbertosmith7014Ай бұрын
Black or Brown CXL is so timely and classic...I'm seeing other manufactures with CXL boots and they often show lots of crackling effect/grain break in appearance. So far after the first re-sole my black CXL boots are with rolls and scuffs but no major fibers cracking or wrinkles, just rolls of buttery waxy smooth leather. Horween feels like a better all around leather than Wicket and Craig. I feel like perhaps the stiffness of the veg tan needs to remain in the lasts longer...i've not experienced the toe curling effect in CXL like I have with Wicket and craig. Sometimes the "standard" options IMO can be more practical and just as premium.

They look very comfortable. I've always wanted a nice pair of boots but have not been able to "afford" a good pair. These are probably out of my reach, but I like the lower top.. Some humans, like myself, were built with cankles..😮.. and unnaturally muscular calves..😅 so the low top has to be just right, or it feels like your cankles are being cradled by a gorilla...and I like the tone of the leather and oil, very nice❤
So, how do you give the lower heel of the HNW or Thurmon last more arch support, like the 55 last?
@umbertosmith7014Ай бұрын
They have inserts you can buy...but they work good in non Nicks boots :) The half insert is very good, its more versatile because it doesn't fill a lot of volume in the boot, the full insert might have too much volume. I put the Delta Arch insert in various shoes and boots, its nice to transplant it around.

Trust me I’m not a rich guy and i have 2 pairs. I have one leg shorter than the other so my left boot gets a double midsole and I have very wide feet. My feet measure a 10F which is very wide, a whole day walking and my feet are perfectly comfortable. Put them on a credit card and pay $100 a month. They’ll be paid off by the time you get them and they’ll last you anywhere from 5-10 years or more depending on use. Where as a couple hundred dollar pair of boots you might get a year and done.

I was a Red Wing guy. I work in the construction trailer now, but I still spend an hour or two per day on the work site. My first pair of PNW boots were a pair of Nicks Falcon in Predator Orange. No more Red Wings. I’ve replaced all of them with Nicks, from BuilderPros to Americanas.
@hpkntnw5 ай бұрын
Oh there’s no comparison. I started buying nicer boots with a pair of redwing moc toe boots. They’re tough to break in and once broken in they’re very hard under foot. Almost like walking on concrete all day, the pair of Nicks Moc toes that I just got last week definitely need breaking in but I can already tell they’ll feel great under foot.

Important step is skipped at 07:05... Removing nails and surface scrapping before fixing sole ;-)
@JourneyRanger2 ай бұрын
Nothing was skipped.....nails are necessary for keeping the boots together ;-) They make tough boots made to last for many years. Contact glue, stitching, and nails are all necessary to keep the materials together. These are super common in pnw boots. If you don't want nails, then maybe this brand isn't for you. You don't feel the nails anyway. The boots sit on a last. The last is a foot shaped mold with a metal plate on it. It slides into the boot. The nail is hammered through the materials, hits the metal plate, and curls back into itself into the materials. It makes the letter "J" shape. You should never feel the nails. They are all nubs. They keep the boot materials snug together. Hope this helps!
@yahtadi51522 ай бұрын
@@JourneyRanger this that I don't always get. Sure they hammered those nails into J shape, and users feet are protected by last What happens after years when those lasts break/crack? Will we be standing on J shape nails? Its f dangerous then
@JourneyRanger14 күн бұрын
@@yahtadi5152 The last doesn't protect you. You are mistaken since the last is an object that is used in the boot making process. We don't wear a last. The last is a foot shaped object that helps shape the boots. The boot makers slide it inside the leather uppers. Then the last is removed once the lasting process is done with the nailing of the insoles, midsoles, and rubber outsoles. The nails are hammered down making that "J" shaped otherwise known as the "crimping" of the nails. They curl back into themselves, into the leather materials, securing the materials together so nothing gets pulled apart. The boot makers do a really good job of making sure the nails aren't piercing through the leather insole. There is a leather sock liner that they slide inside of the boots to go over the top of the leather insole for comfort. You can also put foot inserts for more comfort if need be. There's ones made out of leather, foam, and other ones that are synthetic. You meant to ask what happens if either the leather insole, midsole, or the rubber outsoles developed cracks? Well that will only happen after a very long long time. These boots are meant to be built tough and not develop issues right away. The nails won't hurt you. There's lots of reviews on Reddit from customers who will explain how they don't feel the nails at all. Even if there was that rare occurrence if someone did, you can mail them in and Nicks will make it right. They've been around since 1964. They have improved themselves over the years. No one is perfect. Mistakes do happen. On Reddit, I see them helping customers very often. They do have a good reputation of making high quality boots that last for a very long time. Everyone's experience is different. A variety of factors will affect how long the boots will last such as the work environment, weather, how often or little someone takes care of their boots, if they rotate their boots with other boots/footwear, etc. Rotating your footwear means letting your boots rest and then wearing different boots on a different day. This also extends the life of the boots. Cleaning and conditioning them extends their life as well. If people see any kind of issues with their boots such as cracks, you need to send them in right away before the problem gets any worse. Again, cracks shouldn't happen right away. They could happen after a very long time, such as the factors I described above. But I wouldn't over worry with that too much since Nicks Boots builds premium boots with very high quality materials. They're purposely built tough and made to last for many years. They do resoles and rebuilds of their own boots too. They're a very good and reputable company :)! Sorry for the length of my comment. Just helping you to understand more about their boots after learning from their videos :)

Greetings from Turkiye. Having too many stitches does not mean it is solid and good. When it snows, water enters through all the stitch holes. There are many problems during production. It takes time for the glue to reach and use at a distant point. Unnecessary electricity consumption in the base paint. Paints should be done first and brushed together.
