Thank you so much for making this video! It was a great help. I got the Wi-Fi extender off of Amazon and the manual gave the wrong web address to type in once I connected to the extender network. That was the one piece that was missing I could not figure out. So now my Wi-Fi extender is all set up and I'm flying! Thank you again!

When I set up my Netgear extender up, I didn't use the Netgear website. I used the AT&T setup. All I did was pressed the WPS on my modem and on the extender and they connected.

Can you do a video using the app. The AC1200 only comes with a little card that tells you to follow the app for installation. Warning to all I had to update my Netgear router software before I could connect the Netgear extender. I think it ends up using the same network name as your router. I do not see "_EXT" anywhere? Also, on the app it says the my R7000 (router) is "connected locally" and 2nd listing the R7000 is "connected via Anywhere Access" - if I tap on the 3 dots it asks if I want to "remove device"

If I use Roku or my downstairs PC, I bring the extender downstairs to get the best signal.

I set mine up through the net gear app and it didn’t give me a new network name it kept the same 2 names. It seems to work but it’s strange how I don’t have “ext” at the end of my wifi name

Thanks, Nick. I just did a walk around tracking signal strength. As soon as I walk into my room the signal goes from 30.4 Mbps to 0.47 Mbps. I also cross under the main HVAC ducts as I enter the room. The signal is being blocked by the ductwork ... I think. Going to order the extender right now.

Keep in mind that extender location is the key to a good solid signal.

Hello Nick is this the best WiFi extender to buy now currently. As you have reviewed the EX6110, n300 & tp link previously I just need to boost the signal to reach the ring outdoor cam Also will this help with microsoft teams calls as sometimes teams disconnects Can I have some devices connected to my normal router and some to the extender or do all devices need to be connected one of these Thanks for your help

Both Netgear and Tp Link are good brands and make many different Extender models. Models with dual bands 2.4ghz and 5ghz are best. Yes, you can connect devices to wifi router or extender.

Good questions. Not easy answers. Extender location is the primary key to getting the best signal quality and most distance out of any extender not just this one. You might experience interference problems, cut offs, signal drops, or no signal at all, for example: thick walls or floors, other electronic equipment or extender might be to far away from router...etc. Test until you find the best sweet spot somewhere mid way between your Primary Router and your Wifi device connecting to the extender, then plug it into an AC outlet and test signal quality. This will give you the best consistently solid and strongest signal quality from this or any other extender to your wifi device.

@@nickscomputerfix Thanks Nick. I was hoping to boost the signal to my workshop about 30m away from the house here in Australia, where I have an old laptop in use via wifi. It is so slow it's frustrating. Did I see you are on 150Mbps? Our home package is for 25Mbps over wireless Broadband from the towers a few Kms away. We are lucky if the signal strength indicators ever get to be green instead of the orange we see all the time from the tower to us. So being able to boost it from the house to the outside would be a real bonus. One day we will get a decent supply which will improve things hopefully. Thanks again.

I have Spectrum internet, after I complete these steps, can I unplug the extender and plug it in anywhere in the house or will I have to complete all the steps again?

With any extender you will need to test best placement location until you find the best sweet spot somewhere mid way between your Primary Router and your Wifi device connecting to the extender. This will give you the best consistently solid speed and strongest signal quality from the extender to your wifi device.

Yes, as long as the extender is connecting to a 2.4 GHz to 2.4GHz or 5GHz to 5Hz and is using the same or supports same encryption protocol. Not all hotspots will be compatible because of new emerging WiFi encryption standards. So it might be hit or miss.

I was able to enter network password, but after that I was not able to advance to enter extender's secure password, as it is open not secured. when i clicked on continue, the web page says not found or some kind. what should I do?

@@nickscomputerfix 1) I did reset. 2) the Netgear EX6150 is right next to my Deco M5 AC1300 router; there is another M5 unit used as extender 40 ft away. I noticed: when Netgear EX6150 is connected, my computer shows my internet connected to Deco M5 is lost/disconnected. Any idea why?

Sorry for the delay reply. So many videos and so many comments to respond to, hope you understand. Suggest you make sure which wifi router you are making a connection to, you have 2 M5 routersif I understand you correctly. It will help if you make sure you are connecting to your Primary wifi M5 router and not the M5 being used as an extender. I have not been able to get the ext wifi network to show up for so long, i have reset it multiple times, and when the green light pops up, the ext network is still not there, i also moved it close to my router and it still didnt work. Any fixes?

After resetting the extender also try powering off and back on your router/modem too.

I only get 90 mbit instead of 250. Although its connected via ethernet cable. I also checked the cables, they are not the problem. Anyone has an idea what the problem might be?

Suggestions: 1) Check your specs for your Ethernet port on your laptop/computer, 10/100/1000 Ethernet port. 2) Check your specs for your Ethernet port on your computer, 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports. The speed on the Netgear Extender is 10/100/1000 Ethernet port.

it fails to find IP address for spectrum router and tmobile router. i've called both companies.. not compatible with spectrum.and only works with ethernet direct connect.

Suggestion: Try resetting extender and go through the setup procedure again as shown in my video. Also, check your wifi password to make sure it's correct when setting up extender to connect to your wifi router.

Make sure to include the Model Number. This was not the device I have despite it being a NETGEAR WiFI Range Extender AC1200.
