Today, we'll take a look at a very lightweight little watch from Mido, with a strong movement, a great case, and some nice little details, the Mido Ocean Star Titanium (Ref M026.430.44.061.00).

Thanks for the review Nick! I've had this exact Mido for about a year and a half. It's not a daily wear, so mine is less scratched than your friend's. The accuracy I get sounds similar to what you found. I wasn't crazy about the colors either, but obviously not a deal breaker. I like that it's a seemingly more obscure member of the Swatch group. Solid case back, no problem in a diver for me. The titanium is light weight and comfortable; the instant micro adjust is a "beautiful thing" and is just so common sense.

It's been a minute since I watched a video, but every time I'm just astounded by how great your reviews are man !!!! ...as usual. and it's a cool watch, I've thought about it but I do prefer the steel. I'm a bigger guy and I like the weight.

I just received the stainless steel version with the blue dial/bezel 4 days ago. At first, I was afraid it looked too large because of the thinner bezel and very open dial, but I’m loving it more and more. The graining on the dial is so attractive, and the bracelet is FANTASTIC, way better than the one on my Speedmaster, and I am not exaggerating! The 80-hour ETA in this thing has only gained 10 seconds in 4 days right out of the box. I hope it keeps this up! If it could be 40 or 41 mm with a bigger luminous pip and slightly easier to screw in crown, this would be close to the perfect dive watch. And I picked mine up for only $600!!!! AWESOME review, Nick!

I just bought one of these, very excited for it to come in the mail. Personally I think the color scheme works with the shade of gray titanium, since it's not too bright of an orange and gives off a sort of industrial look

I've had this watch for a while now and I love it! It keeps great time and it wears very well on the wrist. I have found the color combo is great and goes with just everything I'm wearing. My only two complaints are the bezel is a bit loose and the crown doesn't come out far enough for my liking. Now in defense of the bezel, it is only a 60 click versus the 120 click I have on some of my other divers so I figure that is why it is a bit loose but I can live with it. It's been a hell of a find I I expect it to be one of the watches that will be a mainstay in my collection.

Bought this watch recently. I agree with most of your points. I do like the orange though. One thing to note is, if you plan on wearing this on a NATO strap, don't slide it through - the case back will rip apart your straps like a cheese grater.

An Amazon reviewer liked this watch overall with one exception. He stated in his review that it's impossible to regulate this watch in a shop. You'd need to send it to MIDO for a "laser regulation" in their manufacture.

Have the Omega 300p. Different animal. Just ordered the Mido on a strap. Better than similar priced micro brands. Like the color and different looks. $636 grey can’t wait. Will be a good every day watch with my alpinist and Stowa. I preferred titanium. For the money it’s worth it. I love the color. Different then anything Iown. I’ve read it can be had with COSC. Really not worth the cost. So I adjust the watch now and then. . Half the fun. Btw titanium can be buffed out.Mido is more popular in Latin America and Asia fwiw. And oddly love the color combo, it's different.

I've had mine for almost a year. It is so incredibly comfortable I don't wear any of my other watches anymore. Mine is scratched way worse, including a nick on the bezel. But I wear it for everything, including firefighting, so it's going to look beat up. It's an excellent choice for "only one watch", and I think anyone who's on a tight budget should consider maybe just spending a bit more to get this rather than buying several cheaper watches and rotating through them.

@jamesjoyce2528
@jamesjoyce2528 5 жыл бұрын
Because for a diver watch, water resistance is paramount. A clear/crystal back requires a gasket, meaning it's another water intrusion point. Solid back is far superior for a diver's watch, which should do everything it reasonably can to meet and exceed water resistance specs.
@stefs2512
@stefs2512 5 жыл бұрын
@@jamesjoyce2528 50 bar is perfectly reachable for sapphire backs, and noone even needs 30 bar resistance. So no, sapphire does not interfere with function at all. Its just less lazy.
@Cenicebri0
@Cenicebri0 5 жыл бұрын
That's nonsense James, there are watches out there with 20bar and a clear case back, it is just a preference and it has nothing to do with "superior" design for a diver watch. In fact it is just laziness from watch making companies, there is not a single reason for a modern watch to be under the 20bar spec, it doesn't matter if it is a tool watch or a dress one, they all should come with at least 20bar as a minimum standard, with the exception of mechanical chronograph watches for obvious reasons. Regarding the clear case back thing, as I mentioned it is just a preference of the consumer, so they should offer their models with and without one.

They are garbage watches, pure garbage. If you want something more affordable, check out a Casio Duro, if you want something with sapphire crystal, check out Momentum watches as there are a few models in the $100 range that you can upgrade to sapphire for $20 more. Also, in the watch world, I do not feel this Mido is expensive at all and can be had for around $700 at Jomashop.

@stefs2512

@@edrader i like the look of etas, and lots of people agree but thats subjective. And when its on your wrist you cant look at it, but unlike the starfish on the back of the Mido, flat sapphire doesnt pokr you/imprint on your arm. The leak point thing is kinda bs, there are 500m watches with glass backs that dont have any problems. And if you view watches as tools you should really just buy a quartz watch

You don't want a "clear back" on a diver. A clear back requires yet another gasket for water resistance, and thus represents another water intrusion point, as well as another expense when servicing the watch. Any good diver's watch will have a solid screwdown back. A screwdown back is superior because it ensures even pressure across the entire gasket seal; screwpoints on the back can lead to uneven pressure points, and thus another point of water intrusion. Bottom line, any good diver will have a solid back.
