I have just finished laying a herringbone Laminate floor, this video probably saved me half a day of planning and headscratching as it showed each step of the process and how the floor parts come together. Thank you Nick for such an informative video.

Each step of the process, huh. He doesn’t tell you much at all the steps or considerations before even laying it out.

If you take the extra mile to do herringbone instead of normal I would have removed the baseboards first and replaced after floor is laid so the extra trimlines would not have been necessary which i think are "ugly". You go deluxe or you don't. Easy talk by me cos I still have do my own floor. lol

Great work! I've laid regular straight floors a few times but I've never laid herringbone before, so it's incredibly useful for me to see youre systematic approach to the process. I am very jealous of how square your walls are, though... I would never be able to batch out all those edge pieces like that...!

Don't bother mate. I did one earlier this year in a smallish box room/office and it was a total ball ache. It takes twice as long to lay than normal laminate because there's a lot more measuring and cutting to do, plus you get a lot more wastage.

Is it necessary to glue in those last few triangle pieces, and why?
@andrewmaslin9966 Жыл бұрын
@@jessicahall8884I’m sure you’ve had your question answered one way or another, with it being over a year. But with most types of herringbone lvt if you don’t fit the last cuts as you go, and fit all the full planks first, there ends up being both a male and female end on either side of the board, only an expansion gap worth of room to work with and a board you can’t lift to click in once it’s all tied together when you’ve laid most the floor. I made this mistake earlier 😆 very good video of installation tho

Hello I have just watched your video which was very good, we are a distributor of that particular product but we have had problems with crisping, this I believe is when you walk on the floor and it sounds like you are walking on a packet of crisps, the manufacturer advises no more than 3mm underlay and to glue all the short ends, have you ever had any problems regarding this? My herringbone LVT floating flooring is now laid beneath the skirting, (no beading or latex border filler) which I have always preferred - it just looks cleaner finish with the floor going under the skirt and no gap. Although, some people think that this choice can make the job look unfinished.

So, in this video has silicon been used between the finished floor and the skirting boards?

No, there's a small expansion gap by the looks of it and there seems to be a beading attached to the bottom of the skirt (in white, so it's a bit difficult to see).

Is this kronoswiss herringbone? I know somebody who's kronoswiss herringbone clicks when they walk on it, apparently the concrete floor underneath wasn't latexed/levelled beforehand? Would you recommend always levelling the subfloor first? And what underlay would you recommend? The back of the box says atleast 1.5mm which is what they used, a 1.5mm foam DPM underlay, also the instructions on the kronoswiss shows to glue the edges of the planks aswell?

Excellent job. Would you also consider removing the skirting board at the outset to allow for covering up the expansion gap?
@cgale3372 жыл бұрын
Judging by the photos at the end of the video it looks like they installed quarter round or shoe molding afterwards which hides any gaps. If you didn't want to use molding then you would definitely need to make sure the gap is hidden under the baseboard which would indeed require removing boards and reinstalling IF they weren't installed high enough to allow the floor to slide under.
