The variation of dumbbells is extremely useful for a small person like me kzbin.infoUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 But the dumbbell size being large it's hard to do certain exercises like deadlift ( I have to have my hands and legs a bit wider to accommodate the size of the DB )Otherwise happy with the purchase. No excuse not to lift weight when it's snowing outside.

@@dylanwaldron9773 It makes a lot of sense when you think about it though. People who work manual labor type of jobs are basically having an almost 8h workout every workday while most people who work in office only have approximately up to 2 hours for working out a day optimistically (unless they do nothing else). That plus the variaty of exercises that come in most of those jobs. For example, in gym you usually lift weights in specific positions, with handles for best grip and they usually are perfectly balanced as well to make it easier (and safer/more healthy).

I'm pretty sure most of the people who successfully completed it just hook-gripped it, which takes no grip strength whatsoever. It's what I do when I do heavy single dumbbell deadlifts. But it does wreak havoc on your thumb if you don't have the callous built up, which is why Payton complained about her thumb hurting

Most people can grip half their weight, that's not even a challenge. It's not a grip test unless you're at or above your own weight. Think about it, anyone that can do a single pull up has the grip strength for half their body weight. It's not a real challenge until you're attempting a one arm pull up, then you're testing your own body weight at grip strength.

I mean, considering how she said her thumb hurt from it, I can imagine she used hook grip. The grip is the hardest part in this lift. If you can regular deadlift a little more than the weight, you can probably do this if you can hold on.

@UCbgIwl3E20eIk5mKzvbm0gg With a hook grip they usually can lift decent weight. After all, olympic lifters always use hook grip and some powerlifters use hook grip deadlifting crazy weights.

It also helped she used her legs to lift while keeping the weight close to her body. most people were not utilizing their legs to lift. They were relying on their back and biceps

For a really good grip strength challenge video try using two original York 45 pound deep dish plates, placed face to face smooth side out, full lift. See how many can do that. From what was said on "The Strongest Man in History" only seven people have ever been able to do it.
